Host Ryan Seacrest will announce the “American Idol” Top 20 in a live three-hour episode on Sunday, April 14. The Top 24 Season 22 contestants sang for America’s vote from Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawaii over the past two nights. Grammy winner Tori Kelly and Grammy nominee Jelly Roll mentored the finalists and joined judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on the judges’ panel.
ABC has confirmed more special guests will take the stage next weekend while four contestants are eliminated. Music stars Teddy Swims, Lauren Spencer-Smith and Paul Russell are all slated to perform.
Swims is a vocal powerhouse from Atlanta whose breakout Platinum single “Lose Control” sees his success climbing to new heights, garnering nearly 800 million global streams and reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Spencer-Smith is 2020 “Idol” alum who placed in the Top 20 on Season 18. Since then her debut album “Mirror” was released in 2023 and she has sold out her first headline tour. Russell is a singer, rhymer and multi-instrumentalist who signed to ARISTA Records in 2023. His independent anthem “Hallelujah” generated over 7.3 million Spotify streams and was followed up by the blockbuster single “Lil Boo Thang.”
As the Top 20 contestants for Season 22 are announced they’ll each perform for America’s vote once more. Then, on Monday, April 15, the Top 10 will be revealed before the judges save four more contestants — rounding out the Top 14.
Kelly Clarkson, Peyton Manning and Jimmy Fallon are bringing something new to NBC‘s coverage of the upcoming Paris Olympics this summer.
Clarkson and Manning will join sports commentator Mike Tirico to host the opening ceremony July 26, with Fallon and Tirico set to host the closing ceremony Aug. 11.
Clarkson and Manning first revealed their opening ceremony duties during a March appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The next day, NBCUniversal also announced Today hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb would be part of the opening ceremony coverage, set to take place around the River Seine in Paris, rather than in a sports arena as is traditional.
“I’m so glad we can say it,” Clarkson said at the time. “We’ve been holding this forever.”
Guthrie and Kotb, who have hosted previous Olympics coverage, will be positioned on a Seine bridge to report on the pageantry as the Olympic athletes sail by as part of a 4-mile-long flotilla for a parade of nations. Clarkson, Manning and Tirico will be stationed at the Trocadero near the ceremony’s finish, with views of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower, which will host beach volleyball matches.
In the same late night appearance, Tirico also told Fallon about what viewers can expect: “The opening ceremony is going to be so different and unique. Down the Seine, down the river with the athletes on a boat, so it’s not the stadium where they walk in. It will incorporate Paris. And the Games are going to be amazing, as you know: swimming, gymnastics. … Team USA in track and field could be incredibly strong, the Dream Team, the U.S. soccer team, the women’s basketball team.”
After Fallon said he would be watching from home, Tirico proceeded to ask Fallon if he wanted to host the Olympics closing ceremony with him. “Are you serious? Is this real? I’m in! I’m in!” Fallon responded with excitement.
The following day, Fallon confirmed: “It’s real. It’s happening. I’m headed to Paris.”
Joining Fallon and Tirico for the closing ceremony will be returning trio sports commentator Terry Gannon, 1998 Nagano Olympic figure skating gold medalist Tara Lipinski, and two-time Olympian in figure skating Johnny Weir.
"You're talking about game shows. You're talking about sitcoms. You're talking about music shows that come on. All sorts of things," said state Rep. Scott Fetgatter from Okmulgee.
The vision behind House Bill 3964 is to position Oklahoma as the center of live studio audience television productions.
"What we realized was that we're not as big and don't have as much money as some of these states. So how do we come up with a niche?" Fetgatter said.
Fetgatter, a co-author on the bill, said he believes Oklahoma is in a unique position.
"Nashville couldn't compete with New York. They couldn't compete with California when it came to music. So, they have a niche. They carved out country music," Fetgatter said.
If passed, the bill would create the Filmed in Oklahoma Live Studio Audience Episodic TV Program Revolving Fund. This initiative builds on the Filmed in Oklahoma Act from 2021.

Fetgatter says they're asking for $50 million of state funds. The aim is to incentivize productions to come to Oklahoma.
"Let's go with the live studio audience. Let's be the best in the country at something," Fetgatter said.
Fetgatter said he is confident that there's a huge audience for shows produced in the state.
"All those shows dealt with things that middle-America families deal with on a daily basis," he said.
At the end of March, the bill passed out of the Senate Finance Committee. It is now set to be heard on the Senate floor.

The broadcaster has revealed Joel Dommett and Stephen Mulhern's shows are coming back this month.
Joel, 38, is returning to the ITV1 schedule with his game show In For A Shout.
The new series will kick off on Saturday, April 20th at 6:30pm as a new batch of contestants take part.
In With A Shout sees two families battle it out against each other to win a whopping prize of £20,000.
The contestants are challenged to answer questions that are hidden in a montage of moving snaps.
They have to shout out the answers that are displayed on TV screens to move up the money ladder for every category they answer correctly.
Meanwhile, Stephen Mulhern's In For A Penny will return on the exact same night just beforehand at 6pm.
Known as The Governess, Anne's popularity soared on the show, seeing her land a spot on I'm A Celebrity in 2018.
But now she's got her sights set on new projects and announced that she has been cast in a short film.
She told Daily Star: "I've been asked to be in the film and I've decided to go for it. We're going to be making that in the next few months".
"I don't think I'll be nervous. It's not in front of an audience. If it was, I'd be thinking, 'Oh my God am I going to forget my lines?' But because there won't be an audience watching, I'm not worried."
She's remained tight-lipped about any more details on her project.
But thankfully for Anne's fans, her movie role doesn't mean she'll be stepping down from The Chase.
The quizzer who has been on the show since 2010 said: "I don't have any plans to retire. [The Chase is] the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it.
"It's the best job I've ever had, so I'm happy to keep going as long as they want me for."
Anne recently revealed how she was "told off" by producers after she was nearly poached by rival game show.
Then you know it's time for Livewire! Until next time, play on playas.
