Me: About time we do this. Welcome to Overtime. More to what you know about the network. The 2014 were out this month and 3 new shows, 2 we talked about, are coming to the network. So let's play what if?
If Skin Wars is a hit:
It would tarnish a reputation for the network. We said it before. Reality shows don't work. DWTS. TAR. Family Trade. All out the door. Skin Wars isn't going to work. Don't even think about watching contestants tackle body paint.
If "It Takes A Church" is a hit:
I'm thinking 2 or 3 seasons would be enough. Bible is a hit among fans who regularly go to church. Why ITAC? Well, I'm guessing it could be a breakout hit like Duck Dynasty but we'll find out.
If Idiot Test is a hit:
Just run 40 in a year. Have a weekly day like Friday or Saturday and run it twice a week like MOAM and see if it's better than the latter. That may get viewers interesting.
Look at the time, kids. It's time to go. Next month, a month of acapella music and more GSN stuff per usual. Play on, playas.

Me: What up my peeps? Welcome to the blog. A chill up in the air means it's time to figure out who ruined the perfect bracket Warren Buffett gave by starting the first period. Hilty, who finally figured out where the lost shaker and salt was in Margaritaville, shake it up, would you?
Family Feud dominated once again, but between 8 & 10 was Sherriwed. Now the very busted brackets.
Lingo returned, but it went a-nowhere tied with MOAM. Super Password supported the double-decker sandwich, and Blockbusters came after. Match game and 100k pyramid was next and Match Game was sandwiched between baggage with a double dose of MOAM to round it out. Hilty, please shake me away.
March does indeed come in like a lion, and it's time to find out who had their one shining moment in the sun, and who was just a dim bulb in a storage closet. It's the Yay & Yawn of March.
The Yay: Bible gets a May premiere date. So excited for that.
The Yawn: MOAM out of here until next summer. It tried to be like Feud, but lack of comedy and clumsy gameplay drove viewers away.
Coming up, one blogger thinks GSN is done with classics. Can this be true? The answer and all that jazz straight ahead.

Corny little poem, isn't it, anyhoodles, Casey Abell who talked about the upfronts which we just covered last week gave us this, Scriptor....
"I don't expect any more really old stuff on the network. Maybe a few more shows from the 1990s and 2000s."
Really, say it ain't so, but Scott Rahner of GSN news states his case:
"No more old stuff? Since when. The morning lineup is doing stronger than ever (PYL, Sale, even Blockbusters) and stronger than some of the more modern shows in the early afternoon (which is why they keep shuffling the noon hour)."
And pretty soon, it was a war of the words. Casey fired back with.....
"Sorry, I just don't see the network picking up much more old stuff. Oldies fans should be happy if they can just keep the timeslots they already have."
In other words, nothing new classic-wise. He continues with.....
"They tried an eight-ep lease of Dating Game and that didn't work out so well. If Chain Reaction can get pulled off the network with 400K averages, I doubt that 200K averages will motivate GSN to buy more thirty-year-old stuff. Sorry, just don't see it happening.
Instead, I think it's more likely that GSN will replace older material with newer shows. It's already happened with the 5:00 PM hour of Shop Til You Drop."
We covered it in the first period. It was dead in the water. Scott continues about Shop's afternoon decline.
"Part of the decline of Shop 'Til You Drop was the two-hour block from 4-6pm (ET). It was too much, where one hour was much more reasonable and easier to sit through. (I also think taking 'Shop' out of the noon hour was an error).
Plus, GSN knows if they drop all pre-1990's, a lot of people will drop their network with no desire to watch anything anymore."
Looks like Scott won the war that time and told us on his blog about it, but Casey fired back with.....
"I'm just saying that fans of the really old shows can hardly expect GSN to give them more room on the network when they don't get very good numbers."
To put it another way, more classics, less viewers. He continues with.....
"Will the network get more eps of some of these shows to run in the mornings? Oh maybe, but I really don't see any expansion of pre-1990 shows on GSN. The numbers just aren't there. Fans of these shows should be happy if they can hold onto the slots they have."
Then he talks about the dead hour.
"Now this is a somewhat unfair comparison because the weekends aren't burdended with the very early 8:00 AM hour. And you could argue that the potential audience on the weekends is bigger because more people are at home. But it's something to think about. Sure, GSN isn't going to score huge numbers in the morning with any shows. But network execs are probably watching the weekend mornings with some interest."
GSN did score numbers when it debuted in '94. From there, he continues.....
"I can easily see the pre-1990 window shrinking to before 10:00 AM on weekdays only. Unless there's dramatic improvement in the numbers for the old shows, I think GSN will look to squeeze out better ratings and demos from weekday mornings."
No. Classics can't end at 10 NYC time. Let it stay where it is or expand it to early afternoons. Last comment.....
"But old game shows are a tiny niche within a niche. Sure, they have a vocal following on the Internet. Just about everything has a vocal following on the Internet. But the old shows are simply not so beloved by GSN's general audience. I'm sorry to point it out, but it's true. That's why I don't expect GSN to start giving the shows more time on the schedule."
Well, after this camraderie Casey gave, I give the war to Scott. He supports classics and so do you.

And the 3rd period begins.
When GSN did his tribute to Jim Lange, it was nothing but a shallow graveyard for him. The network promised to do a Geoff Edwards tribute but nothing happened. Why is this? Many people believe they want to see a tribute to stars who made appearances for games, but the network didn't buy it. That's because when Bill Rafferty passed away, nothing happened. When Dick Clark passed away, there was no $20K pyramid or New $25K pyramid to be shown. It's time we get our act together. If not one show is in tribute of either Bob Barker, Tom Kennedy or Monty Hall, we will be done with it. Understand?
