Judge For Yourself

Carrie Ann Inaba bares all.

The 49-year-old Dancing with the Stars judge spoke candidly about her health and how the condition affects her sex drive during a Monday appearance on The Talk

"I struggle with some health stuff, and so I have chronic fatigue and it comes, and when it comes in, [sex is] the furthest thing you ever want," Carrie Ann admitted during the CBS  talk show.

"You're just like, 'Leave me alone. Let's talk. Let's read a book together. Let's talk about intimate things. Let's find other ways to bond.' So, like, I've been through periods where it's gone a little dry because my energy -- I just can't do it. Like I want to, but I can't.

Welcome back to Game Show Live!  Later on, We'll show you how to pose like Ariana Grande on a stool.

(song fades out)

Attention, shoppers! Your favorite guilty pleasure will soon be back on the market.

FremantleMedia announced on Friday that it’s bringing back the classic game show Supermarket Sweep, which originally aired on ABC in the mid 1960s. The show has been revived twice since its initial run: first by Lifetime from 1990 to 1995, then by PAX (now Ion Television) from 2000 to 2003.

Though the rules differed with each incarnation, the general premise of Supermarket Sweep involved contestants running through a fake grocery store and performing various tasks — from guessing retail prices to loading their carts with as many (expensive) items as possible. Either way, it always ended in madness. Glorious, glorious madness.

The following is an official statement from Henry Howard, son of the original series’ creator Al Howard:

I’m delighted that FremantleMedia has made the exciting decision to bring back this classic game show, and I look forward to working with their talented teams around the world. In honor of Supermarket Sweep’s return… I believe I’ll go shopping!
It’s not yet known when (or on which network) Supermarket Sweep will return.

Tune in to this.....

CBS is developing a new version of the classic game show Name That Tune, according to a report from Deadline. Casting will begin soon on the reboot, which has the show’s original developers Ralph and Noah Rubenstein onboard as executive producers, along with Fear Factor veteran David Hurwitz.

The original Tune — which debuted on the radio in 1952 and had several TV runs, including a syndicated stint in 1974-81 hosted by Tom Kennedy — tested contestants on their knowledge of popular music by asking them to identify songs played by the show’s orchestra. (Fun fact: Kathie Lee Gifford’s first TV gig was providing vocals for the Name That Tune orchestra in the 1970s.) The show last aired in 1985, but an updated Tune has been attempted (and abandoned) several times in recent years, including a previous attempt by CBS in 2006.

Tune‘s reboot may be spurred by the success of Fox’s Beat Shazam, a similar song-naming game show hosted by Jamie Foxx that debuted this past summer and earned a second-season renewal in July.

Talpa Media’s globetrotting format franchise, The Voice , is getting a new addition in September: The Voice Senior.

At a press gathering in Cannes for parent company ITV, Talpa Global’s managing director Maartin Meijs revealed that the series is slated to launch in August of 2018 on RTL 4 in the Netherlands. Contestants for the latest edition of the franchise will be 65 years of age and older.

The initial four episode run will feature two blind auditions, one “knock-out” episode, and the finale.

The Voice Senior joins The Voice, currently airing in 67 local versions around the world, and The Voice Kids, which has approximately 40 versions globally. Talpa will be shopping the Senior series during MIPCOM.

The company is also stirring up attention for another new format. Lost in Translation, billed by Talpa as “the first ever global reality format,” places 12 contestants on a remote island, splits them into two groups of six, and tasks them with building a boat to get off the island, reach the mainland and find a $1,000,000 treasure.

The twist: each contestant in a group of six has a “language partner” in the other group, but all the other contestants speak different languages.

“The show will keep me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, watching eagerly how these 12 people manage to work together despite the extreme communication and cultural barriers, and I’ll want to know the outcome,” said Talpa Media Group head and format creator John de Mol (pictured) in a statement.

While production hasn’t yet started on the format, the aim is to have local versions for each participant’s home territory.

First Playmania, now this?

“It’s a way to give people a chance to have fun, maybe win, maybe learn something new.” That’s how former Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov describes his new trivia game show app HQ, which feels like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire meets Facebook Live.

At 3pm and 9pm Eastern, thousands of people open up HQ’s iOS app and play along as excitable host Scott Rogowsky asks around a dozen multiple choice questions one at a time. Guess right within 10 seconds, and you move on to the next question — after Scott finishes joking about the answers. Guess wrong, and you can still comment and watch to see which players nail them all and split prize money they cash out on PayPal.

Just a heads up:

And this kiddie story:

FremantleMedia North America (FMNA) is selling a pair of game shows to Universal Kids. The shows are The Noise, a high-tech game that challenges kids to be quiet; and Beat the Clock, a kids’ version of the well-known game show format.

FMNA’s game shows include Family Feud, The Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. The shows for Universal Kids represent FMNA’s first attempt at creating game shows for kids.

“There’s no form of entertainment that has more widespread appeal than game shows,” said Jennifer Mullin, CEO, FremantleMedia North America. “Universal Kids provided us with the perfect platform to produce game shows that will appeal to children of all ages, as well as their parents. The gameplay in both of these shows is fun, interactive and will have families laughing for hours as they play along and attempt similar challenges at home.”

Universal Kids is part of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. Formerly Sprout, the channel launched in September.

“We’re thrilled to introduce The Noise and Beat the Clock to kids and their families,” said Amy Friedman, senior VP, programming & development at Universal Kids. “Game shows are a great way to bring families together in a fun, playful way, and we couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with the experts at FremantleMedia to bring these shows to life. Families will be on the edge of their seats as they join in on the interactive fun. We also think parents might appreciate The Noise, our attempt to make being quiet really, really fun!”

The Noise, premiering on Universal Kids Monday, October 23 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. Central with back-to-back episodes, is based on a format stemming from FremantleMedia Asia’s partnership with Fuji TV in Japan. Hosted by Faruq Tauheed (BattleBots), kids will be challenged to complete various tasks without making a sound, with the “Noise-O-Meter” constantly listening. The less noise they make, the more points they earn.

FMNA’s Mullin and Joni Day are executive producers and Michael Dietz is the showrunner.

A Noise-O-Meter app on iTunes and Google Play allows families to keep the silent challenge going after the show ends.

Beat the Clock premiered in the 1950s and saw contestants aim to complete tasks before their time runs out. FMNA’s version premieres on Universal Kids in the first quarter of 2018 and sees kids team up with their parents, grandparents and other adult relatives in a race against time. Only one team will make it to the end, where they will compete against “The Big Clock” for the grand prize.

Mullin and Day are executive producers, along with showrunner Noah Bonnett. Beat the Clock is hosted by Paul Costabile (NBC’s New York Live, iHeartRadio).

 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

It's been one week since Monty Hall passed away. So how did they do a tribute? Well, Buzzr was the first to start things out with. Last Tuesday, Buzzr did a tribute to Monty by airing LMAD and BTC' 79. Buzzr also did it that same Saturday. CBS had no choice but to honor him the right way on LMAD on Friday afternoon. GSN decided to run a marathon for the first time in years by running a tribute with LMAD eps on Sunday. What a way to go out on a tribute to TV's Big Dealer. He will be missed.

Here's one:

From Digital Spy
Comedy game show Takeshi's Castle is being rebooted, though it looks like we'll no longer have Craig Charles' dulcet tones to guide us through all the mayhem.

Comedy Central will be showing all-new episodes of the series this autumn, this time with Jonathan Ross providing the commentary.

Shot in Thailand, the show will see 100 members of the public try to tackle a number of ridiculous obstacles as they attempt to storm a castle.

"Takeshi's Castle is the gold standard of physical game shows and we can't wait to bring the delightful mayhem of this show back to the UK with this new series," said Louise Holmes, Vice President, General Manager, Comedy Central UK.

"Jonathan's comedic brilliance will add a fresh level of funny to this well-loved format for both original fans and hopefully, a whole new generation of 'Keshi-heads'."

Takeshi's Castle originally aired in Japan in the late 1980s, before transferring worldwide including the United Kingdom

But what does this remind you of?

MXC or Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. A program which dubs the program and makes it look funny with fake names to avoid....obvious issues. So much fun.

This next story adds a ring to it....

Every major player in the nonscripted space has been trying to make reality TV interactive, to stitch together the AARP-heavy live TV audiences with millennial-friendly multiscreen viewers. Everyone, so far, has failed. (Remember ABC's short-lived Rising Star? Didn't think so.)
5 Gold Rings is Talpa's big interactive play. The trivia show, in which contestants place gold rings over their answers on a giant LED screen while viewers play along at home on their phones, has just been renewed for a second season on Britain's ITV and is also on the air in France and the Netherlands.

"We really focused on embedding interactivity in the initial phase of the content process, so it doesn't come as an afterthought but is truly integrated and feels natural," says Maarten Meijs, managing director of Talpa Global. "There needs to be a level of interactivity and connectivity to reach our viewers where they are."

It's still too early to say whether 5 Gold Rings will be the interactive breakout the market has been waiting for. Compared to Talpa juggernauts like The Voice, it is still a minnow, sold to just a handful of territories. NBC commissioned a U.S. pilot of the format but passed on the series, and Talpa is currently rethinking its American strategy.

"It's a very technical show, and we are attempting to have the exact same game on mobile devices as we have on live TV," says de Mol. "The challenge is to get the viewer to download the app and play along, but the penetration [for the U.K. version] was very high and will hopefully grow in season two."

Interactive or not, Talpa is betting big on a game show revival at this year's MIPCOM, with an array of formats, including The Big Picture, Divided and What Do I Know?, tapping into a new vogue for the genre (think ABC's revivals of Match Game and Pyramid).
"You see that this genre, one of the oldest genres on television, is coming back," says Meijs. "The challenge is always to be original, to add interactive technology components when they make sense and, most of all, to take risks."

Take this if you will.
