Livewire! 2/24

Madison Brunoehler: From Game Show Live!, this is.....................

Livewire! Yesterday's headlines today. Brought to you by....

USPS drones. Delivering air mail special  as if the mailman didn't show up.

And now from our Game Show Live! Newsroom, here comes Pierre Kelly!

Me: Thank you Madi2theMax, welcome to Livewire!  I'll start with this fun fact: Last year's Academy Awards was 3 hours, 37 minutes. Livewire! plans to be much shorter than that. So skip all the boring montages, put away your dresses and stay out of the red carpet as we step on the 70's inspired shag carpet and award our news........with sass.

Some DWTS couples news for you. Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have revealed they will both be returning to Dancing with the Stars for its upcoming 24th season, which is set to premiere Monday, March 20 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

The couple announced the big news six weeks after welcoming their first child together, son Shai Aleksander, during a Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America

Here's hoping Shai will be on the show in 18 years from now.

An articale in ET shows that Chad Johnson was interested in the "villian" Corinne Olympios by texting and thinks Nick Viall is boring. Really? Well, Nick may have had the last laugh.....

ABC has released the broadcast schedule for the rest of The Bachelor's Season 21 episodes.

Viewers will only see a one-hour episode next week on Monday, February 27 at 8PM ET/PT in which Nick Viall is surprised by his ex-girlfriend and former The Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman, who will offer up "a bombshell suggestion" regarding the Fantasy Suites.

Nick will then send either Corinne OlympiosRaven GatesVanessa Grimaldi or Rachel Lindsay home during a "painful" Rose Ceremony in New York.
The reason for the change in The Bachelor's schedule is that ABC will be airing the first night of its new When We Rise miniseries on February 27 from 9-11PM. (The Bachelor typically airs a two-hour episode every Monday night beginning at 8PM ET/PT).

An eight-part, four-night miniseries, When We Rise will chronicle the real-life personal and political struggles and triumphs of a diverse family of LGBTQ men and women who helped pioneer one of the last legs of the U.S. Civil Rights movement.

Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell will be among those guest-starring on When We Risewhich will star Guy PearceMary-Louise ParkerRachel GriffithsMichael K. WilliamsAustin P. McKenzieEmily SkeggsFiona Dourif, Jonathan Majors, and Ivory Aquino.

Two-hour broadcasts of When We Rise broadcast will air every night next week except for Tuesday, when ABC will air live coverage of President Donald Trump's address to Congress from 9-11PM ET/PT.

I'm guessing if it's the same for DWTS, it'll be a 12-part, 6-night miniseries called "When we Fall" about the XFL's lone season. It starts Anthony Hardy as Jonathan Coachman, Dennis Haskkins as Dick Ebersol and the cheerleaders played by Natasha Martinez, Shelly Martinez, and more among others. Followed by an all-new Match Game PM.

This will make you "Click." This past Sunday Night, Ryan Seacrest's $50 million dollar mansion caught fire. Ryan posted a pic of the aftermath showing some burned out structures, but he added, "Thank god everyone is ok." Our sources say it was an electrical fire off Seacrest's driveway ... which spread to nearby trash cans.
Ryan bought the sprawling Bev Hills estate from Ellen DeGeneres back in 2012 for $49 mil. The 9,200 sq ft home sits on nearly 3 acres, and apparently ... it's mostly intact after the fire. He'll be staying in with Brian his butler.

And right now we have a new segment called.....
List This!

With the Bachelor being the long-running dating show, we list the top 3 dating shows voted by our newsroom.
Number 3:
Dating Naked
Now in its third season, Dating Naked appears on VH1. Hosted by Rocsi Diaz and shot on location in Bora Bora, each episode features two contestants, one man and one woman, who strip down to nothing and go on adventurous blind “dates” with other naked people. Then, each week, the contestants decide if they want to keep “dating” the person or chose to date whoever is next in line. Each season runs for 12 weeks. VHI likes to explain that the show is a “social experiment” that “explores the art of romance, free of preconceived notions, stereotypes – and clothes.” If all goes well, maybe Trisha Hershberger would host it in syndication. I dunno.
Number 2:
Beauty and the Geek
There have been many different versions of the show Beauty and the Geek that have aired all over the world. The American version was produced by Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg, and Nick Santora and aired for fours season on The WB (which then changed over to The CW) from 2005-2008. The show paired “beauties,” women who relied on their looks with “geeks,” men who were super smart, but lacked social graces. By the fourth season, the roles were reversed with beautiful men paired with geeky girls. And Divided host Mike RIchards was there to host it, too.
And the #1 dating show of all-time is......
The granddaddy of all dating shows....

The Dating Game
This was the daily game show that started it all. The Dating Game premiered on ABC on December 20, 1965 and continued on in popularity through 197. A revival series aired in syndication from 1978-1980 and another from 1996-2000. Jim Lange served as the show’s original host but the stars of the show were there single men and women looking to score a chaperoned trip/date. The show featured a male or female contestant seated on one side of a wall and three eligible bachelors or bachelorettes who sat on the other side of the wall. The contestant would ask silly questions to the three and after a short period of time, would have to decide on which they would like to go out on a date with. The show was enormously popular and many TV and movie celebrities appearing on the show (some before they were famous) including John Ritter, Teri Garr, Tom Selleck, Farrah Fawcett and Vyonne “Batgirl” Craig.
And our dishonorable mention:
It Takes a Church
Christian singer Natalie Grant hosted a whole new type of dating show called It Takes a Church that ran on the Game Show Network from June 2014 to March 2015. Each episode featured a single, unsuspecting member of a church who was presented with potential mates chosen by the church’s congregation. The suitors who were not chosen were given free one-year memberships to the dating website Christian Mingle.
And you know what? I want to bring up Nashville singer Mags Duval with a song that's a top 10 hit on the Grimboard charts. Here is....Stay Lonely.

That's all for now, but remember one thing: When doing a rose ceremony, have all ladies grab as many hankerchiefs and Kleenex tissues and paper towels as you can when crying. It makes for great reality television. So until next time and all the on playas.

The White out Blues

Today's blog is dedicated to the memory of Jim Williams, a dear friend of Game Show Garbage. May he rest in peace.

Stephanie Panisello: From Coast to Coast, Shore to Shore, Border to Border and beyond the far reaches of our galaxy's solar system, it's time to go all the way live on....

Now here is America's favorite contestant, Pierre Kelly!!!!!

Me: Thank you Stephanie Panisello, my uber and lyft driver and we got a lift to our destination: Game show Live! As live as it gets, as live as it happens and as live whenever you feel like it.

Today's program is presented this month by Edible Arrangements. What I have is a Berry Chocolate Bouquet dipped Pineapple and Banana. Voted Best arrangement of 2017, this selection has 5 sizes starting at $87 and you can get that on the website or at a store near you. The fare is paid and we're here. Let's start with:

     The Opening Toss-Up story.

Turning 60....and still turning letters, Vanna White made Wheel of Fortune what it was since she came in 1982. She's a knitter, wears fancy dresses and played a greek goddess.....once. One source is Closer magazine says "Age is only a number, It’s really about how you feel.” And it is true.

The TV icon also told the publication that she’s looking to keep the celebration as low-key as possible.
“I’m not one who likes to celebrate my birthday. I never was,” she said. “I remember for my 40th I went to bed early and just watched movies with my kids! So I may go away for the weekend to a spa or resort to just chill. I’m doing nothing; is that terrible?”
One thing that is keeping White busy lately is empty nest syndrome. Her youngest daughter, Gigi Santo Pietro, moved away to attend college in 2015, leaving White unable to cope with her new life.
“I’d go to her room and into her closet to smell her clothes, lie on her bed and cry. I took it hard,” admitted White.

Even though White tried to pose nude for Playboy, but turned it down, she is also involved with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “I’ve gotten more involved with charities, and I like helping other people.” So happy 60th, Vanna. Keep turning them letters.

This Friday on Livewire!,  one DWTS couple sitting in a tree, D-A-N-C-I-N-G.....but there's more to it.  all on Livewire!  Catch it here!

(song stops)
They say it's a thin line between lobe & hate. But in the world of game shows, it's a thin line between.........Yay & Yawn.

The Yay: Rachel Lindsay. She made Bachelorette history and will make it soon.

The Yawn: Nick Cannon leaving AGT. Who will fill Nick's place now that he's gone?

Red light means we must stop for a break. After this, Buzzr goes in a scheduling snafu, but how? That's on the way, but first...

(song fades out)

It's time for a new segment called.......Tenspot.

From  the archives of Buzzr, we give you 10 moments in game show history. Today, the top 10 moments of Tom Poston on Super Password.

Welcome back to Game Show Live! We have a 1990's fashion show all set up in our studio today. Don't miss that, but first....

PYL leaves the 10 eastern slot and Super Password comes in to replace it. What is going on here? Well, it's because they're adding extra SP shows. MG and Feud get slimmed down a lot. No word on when the changes will take place. And there's this if you want to see it.

Million dollars's on MTV.

MTV’s new reality gameshow series Stranded With a Million Dollars (premiering tonight at 10p) sees 10 contestants who are total strangers left on an island with, yup, you guessed it $1million.
Those cast members that manage to survive for 40 days get to keep the cash, but there’s a twist. During their stay they have to buy supplies to keep alive and give themselves shelter.

And these items are seriously expensive, like $10,000 for a machete, $30,000 for a tent, and $1,000 for a bottle of water. So during their time on the island they have to decide between them how best to spend — or save — their cash, so they have as much left over as possible for whoever manages to survive.

What makes it even more difficult is that every purchase needs be made by vote, with a majority needed to go through with it.
There are also ‘Temptations’, where individuals get the chance to use the group’s cash to buy personal things. This is obviously a massive recipe for conflict.

Who knew Alex Trebek had swagga?  This past week on Jeopardy!, a category was called "Let's Rap, Kids!" and this moment was filed under ROFLMAO. Have a look.

Ya heard me?

Remember Heroes of Cosplay? Well, Syfy is getting back into the cosplay game. The world's most innovative cosplayers go head to head each week in Syfy's new transformation competition series COSPLAY MELEE - an epic showdown of creativity, eye popping costumes and one of a kind characters. Premiering on Tuesday, March 21 at 10/9c, the hour-long battle is hosted by actress and self-described "super fan girl" Yvette Nicole Brown ("The New Edition Story," "Community") and executive produced by Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin of Matador Content ("Lip Sync Battle").
Each week, four world class cosplayers compete to create not only intricate full-body costumes - but fully-formed characters that they must bring to life through their own realistic performance. Guiding and critiquing them are a panel of judges including world class cosplayer LeeAnna Vamp, and A-list costume creator, Christian Beckman ("The Hunger Games," "TRON: Legacy"). At the end of every episode, the winner will walk away with $10,000 ... and the right to claim cosplay supremacy.

"Cosplay is passion, artistry, engineering and theater all rolled into one," said Heather Olander, Senior Vice President, Alternative Development and Production at USA/Syfy. "At the intersection of the maker world and fandom, the incredible artists of COSPLAY MELEE will blow your minds with their transformational creations."

"As a huge fan of the creativity cosplayers bring to their craft, nothing makes me happier than having a front row seat for the amazing creations set to hit the COSPLAY MELEE runway," said host Brown. "These talented artists are going to shine!"
Best known for her roles on NBC's "Community" and having recently starred in "The New Edition Story," Brown began her television career on "Girlfriends" and currently stars as Dani on the reboot of "The Odd Couple." Previous film credits include "Little Black Book," "Tropic Thunder," "Meet Dave," "Dreamgirls" and more. Brown can also be seen peeking through prosthetic makeup as one of the Three Fates in the Percy Jackson sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" and has lent her voice for several characters on the big and small screens, including roles on "Family Guy," "Pound Puppies" and, most recently, "Yellowbird."

Here's a little Mexican flair for you: Celebrated chef and restaurateur Aarón Sánchez will join Chefs Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi as the third judge throughout Season Eight of the hit culinary competition series MASTERCHEF, premiering Summer 2017.

A James Beard Award-winning chef, Sánchez is chef/owner of Mexican restaurant Johnny Sánchez, with locations in New Orleans and Baltimore. He co-starred on "Chopped" and "Chopped Junior," and is the author of two cookbooks - "Simple Food, Big Flavor: Unforgettable Mexican-Inspired Recipes from My Kitchen to Yours" and "La Comida del Barrio." An active philanthropist, Sánchez launched his own charity, the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund, empowering aspiring chefs from the Latin community to attend culinary school. An avid tattoo lover, he also is a partner in the world-famous ink shop "Daredevil Tattoo" in New York City.

Sánchez was a guest judge on Season Seven of MASTERCHEF and also will be featured in upcoming episodes of MASTERCHEF JUNIOR Season Five, airing Thursdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

March 9 has a Primal Scream Fox has on their own. To win the competition, THE EXPERTS will have to drag their partners, KICKING & SCREAMING, to the finish line.

KICKING & SCREAMING is a new competition series that teams 10 expert survivalists with pampered partners to face the toughest challenges of their lives.

From executive producer Matt Kunitz ("Wipeout," "Fear Factor"), in association with Lionsgate Television, and hosted by Hannah Simone (NEW GIRL), the series drops these unlikely duos into a tropical jungle in Fiji, where they must overcome dangerous animals, raging rivers, hunger and extreme weather.

While these no-nonsense survivalists are accustomed to fending for themselves, there's one thing for which none of their previous expeditions has prepared them: their teammates, who think "glamping" is roughing it. Among them are a former beauty pageant winner, a model and a professional gamer. To win the competition, and a cash prize of $500,000, THE EXPERTS will have to drag their partners, KICKING & SCREAMING, to the finish line.

Produced by Pulse Creative's Matt Kunitz, in association with Lionsgate, KICKING & SCREAMING is created by Kunitz, David Shumsky and Mark Harris, and executive-produced by Kunitz and Anthony Dominici. Rebecca Shumsky Quinn developed the project and is a co-executive producer, along with Shumsky and Harris.

most dates end in a disaster. Introducing.....

Relationship Disasters. A month of disastrous TV shows involving dating.
Today's relationship disaster: Mr. Personality. Let's all pretend that Alexa Bliss wants to go on a dream date with a lucha libre wrestler. Mr. personality did just that. Hayley Arp tries to find true love from 20 bachelors. But here's where the line gets drawn from here on out. all 20 bachelors.....are wearing masks. That's right. Each man is disguised throughout the dating process, keeping his looks hidden behind a rather scary-looking mask. While she does not see the appearances of the men she is dating, viewers do. As the series progresses, the woman ultimately narrows her choice to one man. Good thing the loser didn't get slammed by AJ Styles. To make matters worse, it only ran 1 season and lasted only 5 episodes. And to make even matters worse: Monica Lewinsky. Yes, the girl who was involved in Clinton's presidency as host. Mr. Personality may be a wrestler, but on TV, he's a ....
