GTK Overtime #5: The dislike button

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhoEKp11yCI

VO: This is Overtime. More about the network you know & trust. Here now is Pierre Kelly.

Me: Hi everyone, when I posted about why some people hated GSN, it set off a firestorm for the first time in our 3-period era, but of all time as well. Because you are so nice to me, I will give you 3 more things you somewhat dislike about the network. And here we go.

1. Lack of variety

The GSN Fb page gave us a pop quiz question for all to ponder.....

A. Trivia (The Chase usa, The American Bible Challenge, etc.)
B. Survey (Family Feud, etc. )
C. Action (Minute to Win It, etc.)
D. Other

Whoa there, GSN had variety back then. If you chose A, they had Tic Tac dough, The Joker's Wild and Blockbusters. For B: Play The Percentages was one of them back then. C: Beat The Clock and Cram were piped in.  If you chose d: They would've said all of the above to go with it. Nowadays, it not much classic stuff with 3/4 modern thrown in. Can you be like it was back then, network people?

2. No interactive play-at-home stuff.

Where is Playmania? Where is GSN Live? For both, it was good shows, but they slashed them both for internet work. In short, any game you would play on GSN.com. I say we should bring them back.

3. Any classic not on GSN deserves to be on GSN.

I'm talking about Concentration (all versions), Name That Tune, High Rollers and anything else not on GSN over it's almost 19-year run. If you got the rights to it, you might as well ask them. Heck, TPIR hadn't been on since 2000 and we told you this before back then. If you want them all, tell GSN about it.

And with that, it's time to go. See you next week as we close out October with more things to learn about the network. Until then, play on, playas.

Every Dead Body Hurts....sometimes.....

(Listen up. Halloween is a next week and a day away, so get to party city and buy costumes to look the part and be the part. Find one nearest you or at partycity.com. Okay? Okay.)

VO: This is GSN The Know. The most informed and entertained blog in the United States of America. Now, from the WIlton-North building, here is the man about games, Pierre Kelly.

Me: And welcome to it. The weekend on most of the east & central US is about to have an early winter, but fear not GSN is still on in any season. Let's figure out what the never-ending carnival is by having Hilty turn on the juice.....

For the top 10, Family Feud took up the first 3, but Chain Reaction finished in 4th. After Feud in 5th, Catch 21 was next in line in a tie for 6th with Feud taking up the rest of the list. Now the ones who threw up on the roller coaster afterwards.....

$100K Pyramid and Baggage kicked it off first, with MTWI afterwards. With Password Plus and Match game coming in next, a scatterful of Baggage of Family Feud rounded it out. Now the ferris wheel of eyeballs.

This week: 270,000/232,000
Last week: 311,000/252,000

For Prime, the first October week went below 300k while the whole day had viewers down 20k. That ends the first period, Hilty will til-a-whirl out of here.

Just after the break, a halloween edition will return for the first time in years. We'll tell you what it is and why Minute should've been improved. See you in 30 seconds.

(quick fade out)

And back again on the program, because next week will mark the MTWI finale.  With a few more airing, it'll reduce to just Sunday. Why? They don't know, but a source according to the GSNN blogspot page says it may return to 9pm next month. We'll soon see.

As if that wasn't enough, Whammy! will air a special Halloween edition this Sunday at 9am CST. In its comments, one anonymous user said:

"It's nice to see GSN noticing this, now all GSN has to do on weekend mornings is put Woolery Lingo and Russian Roulette back on the schedule to replace Love Triangle and Sherriwed, and my viewership will be secured for mornings."

I agree with you. Cram and Camouflage from 2007 will add in to the mix on weekends if I'm just guessing. Scott Rahner, the blog's owner has the statements. Observe for yourself:

-Match Game has been at 8am & 8:30am since Late 2010
-Either $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid has been at 10:30am since 2010 or even before.
-Super Password at 11am since April 2012
-Catch 21 has aired at 2pm weekdays since 2009/10, with no breaks at all
-Chain Reaction has aired at 3:30pm weekdays since August 2011
-Karn Feud has been In/Out but mostly in weekdays at 4pm & 4:30pm since 2009 but Catch 21 in June-September 2012 and Deal or No Deal in October-November 2012
-Harvey Feud has been at 6pm for a while. I'm guessing June 2012.
-Karn/O'Hurley Feud has aired Monday nights since January 2012.
-Harvey Feud has aired Wednesday nights since March 2012.
-Whammy! at 9:30am since 2009 and at 10:00am since early 2012.
-Newlywed Game on weekend mornings at 11am since at least mid-2009.

The only part of the schedule that has stayed intact completely for over a year now has been post-11pm weeknights and post-11pm Saturday nights (Feud, NG, Baggage, since April 2012 post-DWTS)

In short, Whammy! and Catch 21 have been around for 4 years. The shortest: DOND for 2 months last year.

Let's get to the 2nd intermission presented by swagbucks.com. Svengoolie comes in again with another hit:

And we unmask into the 3rd period.

It seems that Minute to WIn it and Apolo Anton Ohno are dysfunctional. Why is it? It's what "The Pyramid" did last year. When that debuted, it ws a cpoycat of the Clark 1980's edition. As for Minute.......same like it did on NBC. But let's find out what should've fixed it. First, have a bonus stunt for either an extra life or additional money. Second, have someone from the audience partcipate in a stunt for oh......$5000 or $10,000. Third, have one stunt for extra time to use it now or save it for the next one. Finally, have Apolo say it once every first stunt and no more. Because saying it too much is too much.
