Opening Theme

Colbi King: From coast to coast and around the world, welcome to....

Now, America's favorite contestant, Pierre Kelly!

Me:Welcome everybody to Game Show Live! where we get lit and get involved. Let's kick it off with......

The  Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.

The two-part "30 for 30" documentary on the seminal 1990s competition show "American Gladiators" has now concluded, wrapping up an epic saga that cut right to the core of the American Dream.

The documentary dove deep into the largely unknown history of the show, which dominated the TV landscape in its initial run in syndication on US television and around the world. It revealed stories of love, lust, betrayal, friendship, injury, agony, and everything in between from the creators of the show and the Gladiators themselves.

So how did a nearly three-hour doc about a show famous for events like jousting with things that looked like huge cotton swabs and rolling around in giant steel balls called Atlaspheres come together? According to the doc's director Ben Berman, he was skeptical when initially approached by Vice about the project but changed his mind once he learned more about the story.

"A little bit into my research, I thought 'I think we can make a documentary about the history of "American Gladiators" as a microcosm to the history of America and the way history is written,'" Berman told Variety. "I thought there was something actually smart we could do with this documentary about what one might perceive as a pretty unintelligent subject matter."

The central figure in the doc is Johnny Ferraro, the co-creator of "American Gladiators." Ferraro's relationship with his fellow co-creator Dan Carr takes up a major portion of the screentime, with Ferraro's version of events not always lining up with the real story. Berman said that he respects Ferraro, and that he is "to some degree the godfather of reality TV." But that doesn't mean Berman didn't recognize when Ferraro was looking to obscure the truth.

I want to thank the newsroom for coming out to Applebee's Cricket Grounds to witness National Game Show Day last Thursday and that weekend afterwards, watch the Pacific Bay Piranahs whoop that thing on the Central City Flash by 6 wickets and 127 runs but......there were 2 irish sisters next to me that got my attention. Not to mention psyching the Flash out. Here they are.

As another victorious Taskmaster champion is crowned, a brand-new bunch of the nation's best and brightest comic minds have been selected by the Taskmaster Greg Davies to compete in a series of his most tricksy tasks yet, while a watchful Little Alex Horne calmly observes and takes notes with admirable efficiency in the 16th series of the BAFTA winning and Emmy nominated global comedy juggernaut.

Simultaneously bringing their A-Game and bracing themselves for the most bizarre show on television are; comedian, performer, and author Julian Clary (Friday Night Live, Channel 4), comedy actor, writer and stand-up Lucy Beaumont (Meet The Richardsons, Dave), multi-award winning stand-up Sam Campbell (Bloods, Sky), presenter, writer and comedian Sue Perkins (Perfectly Legal, Netflix), and actor, writer and director Susan Wokoma (Cheaters, BBC One). All five are vying to win points, prizes, and eternal glory in hope of winning the coveted golden trophy along with bragging rights as the Taskmaster Series 16 Champion.

Elsewhere, it has recently been announced that BAFTA nominated comedian, writer, and actor Rose Matafeo, and critically-acclaimed writer and performer Mike Wozniak have been confirmed to host and star in Channel 4's brand new children-focused entertainment show Junior Taskmaster, with Matafeo assuming the role of the mighty Junior Taskmaster and Wozniak as her loyal Assistant, the show has recently been commissioned following the continuing success of ratings and critical hit Taskmaster.

Taskmaster is produced by Avalon and Executive Producers for the series are Alex Horne, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, James Taylor, Jon Thoday and Andy Devonshire who also acts as Series Director, while Andy Cartwright will also continue as Series Producer. Taskmaster is commissioned for Channel 4 by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, with Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Events.

Charity Lawson is about to have her pick among 25 men as her journey to find love begins on "The Bachelorette."

Lawson — a fan-favorite from Zack Shallcross' season of "The Bachelor" — will star as ABC's leading lady for the next season of "The Bachelorette," as the show hits its milestone 20th season on June 26.

Among Lawson's suitors are two men named Aaron, three named Caleb (one with a "K"), plus a Joe and a Joey. The contestants range from age 24 to 33 and include a firefighter, a pro wrestler, a "world record jumper," a tennis pro, a yacht captain, a Harvard grad student, an attorney and a scientist.

Lawson was the fourth runner-up on "The Bachelor" Season 27, being sent home after Shallcross met her family during hometown dates.

Lawson, 27, is a child and family therapist from Columbus, Georgia. She earned her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Auburn University. ABC's bio describes her as "searching for a life partner who loves dogs, thrifting and a good tailgate; but, above all else, is honest, empathetic and values her for who she is." The network says she is "eager to find lasting love" to match her parents, who have been married over 47 years.

One of Netflix's sillier baking shows is returning to us very soon! Is It Cake, Too? will premiere this June, so get ready to watch a brand new group of bakers compete to befuddle and confuse a panel of celebrity judges as they try to guess which objects are real and which are cake.

Is It Cake? premiered in March 2022, and its concept is unique in that it's based on a viral internet trend most commonly seen on TikTok. You might have seen the posts and threads online asking people to figure out if a seemingly ordinary household object is real or cake. It became a running joke that literally anything could be cake.

The show takes that concept and runs wild with it as contestants in season 1 were forced to concoct cake versions of everything from purses to fast food and more. Here's everything we know about the new season of the game show so far.

The new season steps it up with the cash prize as contestants are competing for $100,000 rather than $50,000!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's one for you.......

Channel 4 has recommissioned Chalkboard TV with Motion Content Group to make a six-episode second series of the entertainment quiz show One Question. Claudia Winkleman returns to host the show, with just One Question for game pairs hoping to win £100,000.

One Question is a seemingly simple yet deceptively difficult general knowledge quiz in which pairs of contestants must answer just one question correctly. But that one question comes with 20 possible answers and only one is correct. All the players must do to win £100k ($120,000), is choose which is the correct answer. Eliminate the incorrect answers and they'll be on the path to victory, but if they eliminate the one correct answer it's game over.

On returning to the One Question hot seat, Claudia Winkleman said: "I'm completely obsessed with this show and am so happy we get to do it again. No buzzers, no fancy lighting, no hoo haa. Just one question and I can give our brilliant players 100k. Plus there's sitting down. I'm a big fan of sitting down."

Tom Beck, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4, said: "We had a lot of fun making One Question and it was a joy to see our viewers respond so positively to it. It's brilliant to have the incomparable Claudia Winkleman back to be asking that all important one question."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's time to pack her knives and go for good.

Bravo will need to cook up a new host of Top Chef now that Padma Lakshmi has revealed she is leaving.

Lakshmi, who also exec produces the show, said that she is leaving the cooking show after its 20th season, which is known as Top Chef: World All-Stars. The show, which has its season finale on June 8, has already been renewed for season 21.

"After much soul searching, I have made the difficult decision to leave Top Chef. Having completed a glorious 20th season as host and exec producer, I am extremely proud to have been a part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the worlds of television and food," she wrote on social media.

"After 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working alongside them dearly. I feel it's time to move and need to make space for Taste The Nation, my books and other creative pursuits," she added. "I am deeply thankful to all of you for so many years of love and support."

Top Chef's 20th season was set in London and featured 16 of the greatest competitors from the format's iterations around the globe. Lakshmi hosted alongside head judge Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons. It is produced by Magical Elves.

Elsewhere, Lakshmi also hosts Hulu's Taste The Nation, which just aired its second season.

"Padma Lakshmi leaves behind an incredible legacy on Bravo's Top Chef," and NBCUniversal spokesperson said. "Her impact on the Emmy, James Beard and Critics' Choice Award-winning series is undeniable. We are grateful to Padma for being a consummate host, judge and executive producer, and for bringing her ingenuity and exceptional palate to each episode where she ate every bite of food on the series for over 17 years and 19 seasons. She will always be part of the Top Chef and the NBCUniversal family and has a seat at the judges' table anytime."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But we can't pack up the cutlery set just yet because it's time for a Mistplay Game Break. Let's play First & Last. Earlier, we touched on Taskmaster's new series. The last champion to go all the way was Mae Martin from Canada, but who was the first to win that title?

Think about it as we invite The Nikki Cross Orchest-Ska Band of renown in our Spotify Soundstage.
