Daytime may not be the new primetime, but at a time when linear viewing is shrinking, new research from iSpot.tv shows daytime programming growing and grabbing a bigger share of viewership.
iSpot said that during the 2022-23 television season, the advertising impressions generated by daytime programming grew 1.3% to 860.3 billion.
By contrast, primetime ad impressions dropped 3%.
Daytime programming’s share of all linear impressions hit 17.7%.
“These shifts create new avenues for networks to maximize the value of non-primetime dayparts, while advertisers can locate pockets of broad-reach programming for lower CPMs,” according to the ISpot report.
Most of the growth in daytime is happening on the broadcast networks, with daytime impressions on ABC,CBS and NCU up an average of 9.5%.
The top 10 networks during daytime are CBS, ABC, Fox News Channel, NBC, CNN, Ion, Univision, ESPN, MSNBC and HGTV.
The top 10 network shows in daytime are The Price Is Right, The Young and the Restless, The View, Let’s Make a Deal, General Hospital, GMA3, Friends, The Bold and the Beautiful, Today With Hoda & Jenna and The Talk.
The top syndicated shows were Friends, Dr. Phil, The King of Queens, Tamron Hall and Seinfeld.
Who’s advertising in daytime? The No. 1 brand is Nutrafol, followed by Weight Watchers, Farxiga, GOLO, Chase credit cards, Huggies, Flonase and Hilton Hotels.

QUINCY, Ill. (Court TV) –An Illinois jury convicted a former gameshow contestant of first-degree murder and home invasion for the shooting death of his estranged wife amid bitter divorce proceedings.
The Adams County jury reached its verdict against Timothy Bliefnick Wednesday afternoon after hearing closing arguments and deliberating for several hours. The verdict was read before a packed courtroom of family and supporters of the defendant and the victim, Rebecca “Becky” Bliefnick.
“The judicial process cannot bring her back nor can it heal our wounds, but we are relieved that the verdict delivers justice, and we are thankful for all who made it a reality,” Becky’s sister, Sarah Reilly, told reporters after the verdict.
Bliefnick’s father and brothers declined to comment as they left the courthouse. His lawyer, Casey Schnack, said they were “disappointed” with the jury’s verdict but respected the decision and planned to appeal.
Bliefnick drew gasps from a “Family Feud” audience three years ago when he joked that his biggest mistake on his wedding night was saying “I do.” The comment did not come up in his trial, but marital strife was central to prosecutors’ theory of motive. Bliefnick’s defense maintained he was innocent and that even though there was plenty of evidence of a contested divorce, none of it proved that Bliefnick killed Becky.
Becky’s friends and coworkers testified that she was fearful of Bliefnick and what he might do to her if he didn’t get what he wanted in their divorce. In a Sept. 2021 text message to her sister, Becky said her husband should be the “number one person of interest” if anything happened to her.
The couple was due in court on March 3 for a hearing in their divorce over several contested issues, including:
- Tim wanted more parenting time than Becky.
- Becky thought Tim was hiding assets.
- Tim wanted his father to have unsupervised visits with his sons.
- Becky did not want Tim’s father alone with their sons.
Becky never had her day in court. Her father, William Postle, testified to finding her bullet-ridden body in her Quincy home the afternoon of February 23, 2023, after Bliefnick texted Postle saying he had not heard from Becky all day. Becky had messaged Bliefnick on Feb. 21 asking him to keep their sons an extra day because she wasn’t feeling after undergoing surgery.
Patrick Kielty is the new host of RTÉ's The Late Late Show, succeeding former presenter Ryan Tubridy, the Irish broadcaster has announced.
He is the fourth permanent presenter of the programme - one of the world's longest running late-night talk shows - since 1962.
Kielty said he was "absolutely thrilled" and that it was "a real honour" to take up the role.
The County Down-born comedian has a long career in TV and radio presenting.
Kielty will continue to host his own Saturday radio programme on BBC Radio 5Live while presenting the Late Late.
From 1999 to 2003, he fronted Patrick Kielty Almost Live on BBC One and also co-presented talent show Fame Academy with English presenter Cat Deeley in 2002 and 2003.
The pair later became a couple and married in 2012.
In March, Ryan Tubridy announced he would be stepping down after 14 years at the helm of the Late Late Show.
His final programme will be broadcast on Friday 26 May on RTÉ One, with Kielty expected to be on-air in September.
The mailroom got a ton of mails and emails asking them who are these 2 girlies singing gibberish? Well, to answer that question, the group is Absolute Lilth. They are 3 months old on TikTok but got a ton of praise on the app. If I should see them at their next home game on Juneteenth weekend against the visiting Westview Wingers while trying to scarf down BBQ nachos and a XL ICEE up in the skybox, expect this to happen. Oh yes it will.
