Craig Charles has stepped down from his role as a presenter on The Gadget Show.
The former Coronation Street actor revealed he had chosen to quit after five years in the job in order to pursue other ventures.
The actor-turned-presenter had been presenting The Gadget Show alongside Ortis Deley, Jon Bentley and Georgie Barrat.
"I don't think I'll co-present any more Gadget Shows, so that's gone. I like new adventures – I'm always looking forward rather than back," he said (via The Sun).
Explaining his reasons for wanting to explore other work projects, he continued: "When I was in the [I'm a Celebrity] jungle my brother died and it prompted me to leave Coronation Street because it made me realise there were things I wanted to do – which I didn't have time for while I was in Corrie – before it was too late."
Charles added that he's also considering whether or not it's time to "slow down" in terms of work as well.
"Last summer I was doing a show about UFOs for Sky History, The Gadget Show, the first series of Moneybags, my radio Monday to Friday and then gigging all weekend," he said.
"I should slow down."
Call Me Kat loves to give subtle (and not-so-subtle) nods to star Mayim Bialik‘s past TV projects, but when the Fox sitcom kicks off its third season next month, it’ll be paying tribute to her current gig: host of the syndicated game show, Jeopardy!.
After beloved, longtime host Alex Trebek passed away in 2020, a series of guest hosts stepped in (Katie Couric and LeVar Burton among them). But it was Bialik and former Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings who were officially tapped to share hosting duties of the syndicated version, with Bialik helming the primetime-airing Celebrity Jeopardy!, kicking off on ABC on September 25. And while Bialik and Jennings don’t appear together on the game show, Call Me Kat is taking steps to make sure they share some screen time.
In the second season finale of the comedy, Louisville cat cafe owner Kat decided to take some time for herself and head to Paris to see where life would take her. In the Season 3 premiere, we find Kat returning home, and she’s feeling particularly chatty about her travels abroad. Can you guess who is seated next to her on the flight? None other than Jeopardy!‘s winningest contestant, Jennings (playing himself), who is much more interested in catching some sleep on the plane than hearing about Kat’s adventures.
She's still ready for some football
STAMFORD, Conn. - August 15, 2022 - Multi-Platinum, 8-time GRAMMY(R) Award winner Carrie Underwood will star in the show open for NBC's Sunday Night Football for the 10th consecutive season beginning in September on NBC and Peacock.
Underwood performed the show open - featuring an updated rendition of the now-iconic "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" - from The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, home of her ongoing residency, REFLECTION.
For the first time, the show open will highlight the game-day energy around each Sunday Night Football game as a dedicated film crew will capture the atmosphere leading up to kickoff including fans tailgating and prepping for the game, player arrivals, and scenes from the host city.
"Performing the show open for Sunday Night Football for 10 years has been such a joy and privilege for me," said Underwood. "It's always a fun day when we shoot the new open -- our amazing creative team somehow manages to top themselves year after year."
"We are thrilled to mark a decade working with Carrie and are excited to introduce game-day scenes from the host city and stadium into the show open," said Tripp Dixon, creative director of the SNF show open for each of the past 10 years.
The show open for Sunday Night Football, primetime television's No. 1 program for an unprecedented 11 consecutive years, will debut on Sunday, Sept. 11 on NBC and Peacock leading into Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
NBC'S SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IS PRIMETIME TELEVISION'S NO. 1 SHOW FOR RECORD 11 CONSECUTIVE YEARS: NBC's Sunday Night Football finished the 2021-22 TV season as primetime's #1 TV show in all key metrics for an unprecedented 11th consecutive year - adding to its record for the most consecutive years atop the charts (since 1950), based on official live plus same day data provided by Nielsen. Sunday Night Football also ranked as the No. 1 show in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic for the 12th consecutive TV season.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Aug. 10, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- On Aug. 14 and again on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. PST both days in honor of the 45-year anniversary of Elvis Aaron Presley's death on Aug. 16, 1977, KWXY Music Radio out of Palm Springs, CA is set to broadcast and livestream "The Elvis Presley Story" featuring broadcast legend Wink Martindale. The 14-hour program - created by Martindale who was one of Elvis's long-time friends - features rare content and interviews with Presley and others from his inner-circle.
Martindale's "The Elvis Presley Story" explores the career of the world's most iconic entertainer through insightful and engaging interviews from those that knew him best. It is the most comprehensive story on Elvis ever produced, according to Martindale.
Martindale says he became a big fan after listening to the first airing of Presley's single 'That's Alright Mama' on July 8, 1954 after listening to it from inside the station - WHBQ in Memphis where he worked at the time. Shortly thereafter, Martindale had Elvis on his TV show 'Top Ten Dance Hour' which would become The King's first television appearance.
"I was there in the station that night, and that's when I first met Elvis," Martindale said. "He and I became great friends and we remained friends until the day he passed.
"I'm so fortunate to have witnessed American music history," he said. "And I am thrilled to be able to share 'The Elvis Presley Story' with a new and worldwide audience."
Sporcle, the trivia game that has been an obsession among bored high schoolers, celebrities, and even Jeopardy! contestants for the better part of two decades, is taking over the Washington Hilton for three days in September with the first-ever SporcleCon.
For the uninitiated, Sporcle bills itself as the world’s largest quiz community with more than 4.5 million “mentally stimulating diversions,” with topics ranging from cats to Rob Lowe. Launched in 2007, the game provides prompts — such as, “Can you name the bands and musical acts that start with W?”— and players must type as many answers as possible before the clock runs out (with some hints along the way). Sporcle members can create their own quizzes, and the site boasts a number of contests, discussion boards, and opportunities to collaborate.
It’s no wonder at least a handful of Jeopardy! all-stars have credited the online game with their success. In fact, SporcleCon, which will be held from Sept. 23-25, will be hosted by 12-time Jeopardy! champion Austin Rogers, a bartender and trivia night host in New York who won $400,000 on the game show.
The convention will also offer attendees a chance to audition for Jeopardy!, as the casting crew will be on site during the event’s last day. (Heads up — participants have to pass the Jeopardy! “anytime test” before Aug. 31, as well as a group test over Zoom before auditioning.)
While the company says it hosts more than 500 weekly trivia events across the U.S. each, this is Sporcle’s first tentpole event. TriviaCon, the convention’s first iteration, was supposed to take place in Vegas in 2020 — but, well … we know the end to that story.
The event includes chances to win prizes, nightly performances by soul-pop duo Lawrence, live podcast recordings, and, of course, tons and tons of quizzes.
Upon registering, attendees will choose between five colors, each one representing a different team that will win points for a different charity throughout the weekend; here’s the list of colors and charities.
The live events will be presented like most trivia nights you’ve been to: a host will read question aloud in rounds of increasing difficulty, and there will be a chance to win raffles with raffle prizes or cash — a total of $20,000 in cash and charitable donations will be handed out. For those unable to attend in person, there are opportunities to participate online.
Members of the D.C.-area trivia community will also be present at the convention. District Trivia founder Nick Groves will host a few rounds of trivia, showcasing the new TriviaMatic digital system for quiz hosts. Northern Virginia’s Drink N Think Trivia will bring it’s beer-and-questions style game to the convention, as well. One event invites teams to participate in an embassy-focused scavenger hunt around the neighborhood.
For nostalgic fans of Sporcle, the game’s founder, Matt Ramme, will give a talk on the company’s early years and how he started it.
The event hosts say SporcleCon is for trivia fans of all skill levels, and Metrobar is hosting a pre-convention party for attendees to get to know each other on Thursday, Sept, 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the entire weekend start at $199, while single day tickets start at $99.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Aug. 9, 2022 - NBC and the Television Academy announced jointly today that Kenan Thompson will host the 74th Emmy(R) Awards.
The three-hour, coast-to-coast live telecast from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 12 and begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and will stream live for the first time on Peacock.
"Being a part of this incredible evening where we honor the best of the television community is ridiculously exciting, and to do it on NBC - my longtime network family - makes it even more special," Thompson said. "Like all TV fans, I can't wait to see the stars from my favorite shows."
Jen Neal, Executive Vice President of Live Events for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said, "Kenan is well-regarded as one of funniest, likeable and accomplished performers of the last two decades and his tenure on 'Saturday Night Live' speaks for itself. We know he'll bring an excitement and professionalism to the Emmy Awards that a show of this stature deserves."
Kenan Thompson is an award-winning actor, comedian and producer, best known for his work on "Saturday Night Live." This fall he will enter his 20th season on the iconic late-night series as the longest-running cast member.
A six-time Emmy Award nominee, Thompson received two nominations in 2021 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his comedy series "Kenan" and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for "SNL." He previously received two Emmy nominations in 2018 and 2020 in the supporting actor category for his work on "SNL." Thompson won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics in 2018 for the "SNL" song "Come Back, Barack," and received a nomination in the same category in 2017 for co-writing "Last Christmas" from the popular "Jingle Barack" "SNL" music video. He will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in August.
Thompson has made numerous contributions to "SNL" with his slew of hilarious impressions that include Rev. Al Sharpton, Charles Barkley, Steve Harvey and David Ortiz, and by playing memorable characters such as DJ Dynasty Handbag, the scathingly fierce co-host of "Deep House Dish," "Weekend Update" correspondent Jean K. Jean, "Black Jeopardy" host Darnell Hayes and Diondre Cole, the disruptive singing talk show host on the wildly popular sketch "What Up With That."
He recently appeared in season two of HBO Max's "That Damn Michael Che" and Prime Video's "The Kids in the Hall."
We're getting close to the weekend, so we're going to play this from Emily Henry.
