Me:Welcome everybody to Game Show Live! where we get lit and get involved. Let's kick it off with......

The Double Toasted opening toss up story.

The guggenheim Museum.

The Louvre.

The Pink Palace Museum (or the Museum of Science & history-Pink Palace).

Graceland.

The Game Show Museum. Wait a second, the Game Show Museum?

This TV genre suffered a scandal in 1950s that nearly wiped it off screens, but endures as one of the most popular programming types today. Now, the history of these shows finally has a physical home of its own.

What is… the game show?!

The first quiz show launched on radio in 1923; now, nearly 100 years later, the National Archives of Game Show History has launched at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y. Veteran TV producers Bob Boden (“Funny You Should Ask”) and Howard Blumenthal (“Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”) have co-founded the archives and will curate the collection. Boden and Blumenthal are aiming to acquire materials and records from game show professionals, such as producers, performers, directors, designers, writers, executives, and staff members. They’re looking for items like scripts, set designs, props, technical plans, marketing materials, creative plans, production plans, and more. The duo already own a rich personal collection, such as Boden’s vast, colorful stockpile of tickets from game show tapings over the years.

Heavy hitters who have thrown their support behind the effort include “Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time” winner Ken Jennings.

“I’ve often said that game shows, like jazz and comic books, are one of the great American art forms,” he says, “but they have always been considered by many to be a disposable genre. I am delighted by this new effort to take game shows seriously and to archive and preserve their history. I grew up watching game shows as a daily ritual. They’ve shaped who I am as a person, as well as our cultural landscape.”

The only collections-based museum in the world devoted to the history and exploration of play, The Strong is also home to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games, the National Toy Hall of Fame, the World Video Game Hall of Fame, the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play, the Woodbury School, and the American Journal of Play.

“Game shows are a part of American popular culture,” said Christopher Bensch, vice president for collections at The Strong. “Game shows are also a form of play for both the participant and viewer, reaching hundreds of millions of viewers. It’s only natural that the museum at the forefront of preserving play history takes on the challenge of preserving the history of television game shows.”

The Strong also plans to produce new video interviews with some of the creators, producers, hosts, and iconic contestants from game shows. “It is wonderful to hear about the National Archives of Game Show History stepping up to capture and preserve the legacy of game shows,” says legendary host Wink Martindale (“High Rollers,” “Tic Tac Dough”). “Without this initiative, many primary resources relating to these shows, as well as oral histories of their creators and talent, risked being lost forever. I am very excited to see this launch and grow to become the primary destination for game show information in the country.”

And now for a Public Service Announcement.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kind of a slow drag, so we check the Syndicated Scoreboard.

The week beginning with Memorial Day was a session most of syndication would like to forget.

Family Feud was one of the few success stories in the frame ending June 6, holding steady at a 5.4 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating and leading the entire chart for the fourth week in a row. Feud also buried the rival game shows for a seventh straight week. Jeopardy had less buzz, slumping 4% to a 4.9, while Wheel of Fortune faded 2% to a 4.7.

Future guest hosts as the show works out a permanent succession plan include "Today Show" anchor Savannah Guthrie, journalist David Faber, actor LeVar Burton, and sportscaster Joe Buck. The show will make a donation to a charity of each host’s choosing in an amount equal to the contestants’ cumulative winnings during their respective week of episodes.

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA mean not applicable.

GAME SHOWS
- Family Feud (Debmar-Mercury/FMNA) 5.4 NC
- Jeopardy (CMV) 4.9 -7%
- Wheel of Fortune (CMV) 4.7 -2%
- 25 Words or Less (Fox) 0.7 -13%
- Funny You Should Ask (Entertainment Studios) 0.4 NC

And the Jeopardy! guest hosting dance marathon continues.

Monday's episode of Jeopardy! brings a new guest host — Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, who shared Monday morning on the NBC News morning show how she prepared for filling the shoes of the legendary Alex Trebek. Calling the hosting stint one of the most challenging things she has ever done, Guthrie said she "watched a lot of Alex's episodes. If you want to learn how to be good at something, you watch a person who is the absolute best."

"The thing about watching someone host Jeopardy!, when you see Alex Trebek, he made it look easy," she said. "Once they gave me the clues, I read them over and over again and made little notes and practiced my pronunciation with mixed results, let's just say." She also said she gained a whole new appreciation for the type of person Trebek was when the cameras weren't rolling.

"I knew Alex was an icon before I came here and guest-hosted Jeopardy!," Guthrie said. "But what I didn't know or couldn't really feel was how much he is loved and missed in these halls. I'm more in awe of him. I'm in awe of his skill, but I'm mostly in awe of his goodness, and it's so reflected in the people who worked with him."

Just as with previous guest hosts of Jeopardy!, including former Today anchor Katie Couric, Jeopardy! champ Ken Jennings, NFL star Aaron Rodgers, and The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik, Guthrie selected a charity that will benefit from her appearances on the show. The game show will match the cumulative winnings of all the contestants from the episodes she hosts with a donation to The Bowery Mission, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger and homelessness in New York City.

Sure, you can watch United Wrestling Network programs on Saturdays, but..........

There’s Saturday morning cartoons, but for the D.C. area, there’s also “It’s Academic,” which has been showcasing smart kids from local high schools for over 60 years. And with new sponsors, it hopes to keep on doing just that.

D.C. philanthropist David M. Rubenstein is the show’s title sponsor and Virginia-based MITRE is the Platinum sponsor.

“Mr. Rubenstein and MITRE’s sponsorship make possible another season of Washington’s beloved high school quiz television show broadcast on WRC- TV (NBC 4),” a news release said.

The show has been in search of a new sponsor after earlier this year, Giant, which has sponsored the show for more than 50 years, said that it is shifting their sponsorships to food insecurity causes.

Producer Robin Trepanier, whose grandmother started the show in 1961, said the new sponsors align with the show’s mission of educating and investing in young people. “They’re sending a message, too, about how they value education. That’s what we’re all about,” Trepanier said.

Rubenstein said in a statement that he remembered watching the show growing up. “I realized how I had better study harder if I was going to get anywhere. Valuable lesson then and now,” Rubenstein said.

Trepanier said that what’s so nice about the show is how it gives a chance to showcase teenagers who work so hard in school. “Usually those accolades are saved for the athletes, and this shows kids who have worked so hard in school, are so serious about their education. And it’s just wonderful to be able to show them off,” Trepanier said.

While they're looking......I hope, we do a Mistplay Game Break. What is this piece of antique?

Now this was before DVRs, but we'll tell you after a Pandora Song Break from Victoria Bass (last name like the type of fish catch). Instead of going forward into new stuff like Dua Lipa and Silk Sonic, she decided to delve back into when AM Radio ruled the world and this song here is an exmaple of why.
