'Mastermind' legend Magnus Magnusson's daughter Sally wants a woman to take over as host.
The Scottish broadcaster's Icelandic-born dad hosted the popular BBC quiz show for 25 years, and she has suggested a female presenter would be a great choice with John Humphrys stepping down after almost two decades.
Speaking to the Sebastian Shakespeare column in the Daily Mail newspaper, she said: "'Mastermind' thrives on the qualities that John and Magnus brought in their different ways – gravitas, kindness and a searching intellectual curiosity – but a woman would bring something new and fresh to the show."
However, she has ruled herself out of following in her father's footsteps.
She explained: "I’m not sure dynasties are always a good idea. But if the 'Mastermind' production team want to get hold of me, they know my number."
Humphrys himself has posed the idea of a female host as he wished his successor all the best.
He said: "When the present series comes to an end in March there will be someone else in the chair. I wish my successor well but I’m not sure I envy them, whoever ‘they’ may be. What are the odds on the first female?”
BBC presenter Samira Ahmed has been linked to the role, and 'The Chase' star Jenny Ryan – who appeared on 'Mastermind' back in 2003 – is one of her many supporters.
She told RadioTimes.com: "From a news broadcast background, I think [Times Radio presenter] Aasmah Mir would be great, as would Samira Ahmed – they both have a great balance of warmth and authority. [Journalist] Betsan Powys is already in charge on 'Mastermind Cymru', so she could easily step in.
“There are dozens of brilliant and well-qualified women I can think of off the top of my head – people who are not only great hosts but have a genuine passion for quizzing and knowledge. I think that’s what is the key to finding the right replacement.”
On Friday, February 12 at 8:00pm ET/PT, The CW will air an encore presentation of the sixth episode of TBS's hour-long extreme talent competition series, "Go-Big Show," starring celebrity judges Snoop Dogg, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles and "The American Nightmare" Cody, and hosted by popular comedian Bert Kreischer.
As many try to figure out what Peyton Manning will do in his post-playing career, here’s the hiding-in-plain-sight reality: He’s doing it.
Manning slowly but surely is building a portfolio of TV programming. Via Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Manning has started Omaha Productions, named for his shotgun-formation catch phrase.
Among other things, Manning will produce programs for other big-name athletes based on his popular Peyton’s Places for ESPN+.
Peyton will next produce other big name athletes’ programs based on the show. He will continue doing another year of the NFL film-breakdown show “Detail” for ESPN+.
As recently noted, he has a deal with NBC to host a resurrected College Bowl, a quiz show for university students.
Marchand’s story contains an intriguing nugget regarding Archie Manning’s close encounter with a TV career. As it turns out, ESPN wanted Archie for NFL PrimeTime, the popular mid-’80s highlight show that became appointment viewing in the days before highlights became instantly available, during the games.
Archie passed on the opportunity. “With three little boys, I wanted my weekends at home,” Archie Manning told Marchand.
Peyton has yet to commit his own football-season weekends to TV. But he’s finding a way to get more and more involved in other types of programming.
Many still think that a network will make him an offer he can’t refuse, and that he’ll enter a prime-time broadcast booth. They’ve definitely offered him jobs. At some point, maybe he’ll accept.
And we check back in with Robin Donna. Robin?
In these desperate times, the virus asked the govenors of all 50 states and the enitre world to stay home. But staying home doesn't mean you're bored and want to watch TV. The stay at home orders forced us all to play Animal Crossing and Jackbox, but trivia nights are what we were missing when everybody remained in the house. Now the feeling of game nights are being brought to you on the internet thanks to this new segment called:

Ken Jennings is making sure Alex Trebek remains a part of “Jeopardy!”
Jennings, who’s been serving as guest host of the popular game since Trebek’s death, signs off each episode with a simple acknowledgment of the longtime “Jeopardy!” host.
After thanking viewers for watching, Jennings has been ending each show by saying, "Thank you, Alex."
Jennings, the legendary contestant who once won 74 consecutive games and was crowned the champion in the “Greatest of All Time” tournament last year, told a fan on Twitter Monday that the show’s executive producer came up with the idea.
“Every single time @KenJennings thanks Alex at the end of @Jeopardy, I get all choked up. I hope he never stops,” author Jessica Brody commented.
"’Thanks, Alex’" was suggested as a sign-off by executive producer Mike Richards, and I'm glad he did. There wouldn't be a show without Alex,” Jennings replied.
Jennings took over the reins from Trebek in January.
"Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex did this job pretty much perfectly for more than 36 years,” he said at the top of his first episode. “And it was even better up close. We were dazzled by his intelligence, his charm, his grace — really, there's no other word for it.

Broadway and chocolate chip cookies with cheddar cheese are two of the clues that reveal this week's "Hustler" as five new contestants come together and collaborate to answer a series of 10 trivia questions worth $10,000 each on the season finale of "The Hustler," hosted by comedian Craig Ferguson. (TV-PG, L)
Hosted by Emmy ® Award-winning host, actor, writer and comedian Craig Ferguson ("The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson"), "The Hustler" breaks the game show mold by featuring one player who secretly already knows the answers. DON'T be fooled. Just because they have a leg up doesn't mean they'll be taking home the prize.
