Madison Brunoehler: From the Game Show Live! newsroom, it's time for.............
Your news......with sass. Presented by Mulan. Why spend $30 on Disney Plus this fall when you can havethe animated classic for less on DVD and Blu-Ray and even streaming services too? Here now is..... Pierre Kelly!
Me: Hi everyone, good afternoon from the Maple Heights area and TGIF! Hope you are well. And if you aren't well, well........
Today is National Water Balloon Day. Legend has it that the first water balloon happened....
“Sally Spectra out!” That’s the message Courtney Hope shared with fans on Monday, revealing that her time on The Bold and the Beautiful has reached an early conclusion.
“An abrupt ending to a monumental journey,” Hope wrote. “The last three years have been amazing, and though I do not know what the future holds this chapter of Sally has sadly come to an end. I love my [B&B] cast and crew and will miss everyone dearly, but await the day we may all play again. Some things are out of our control, and I thank the fans for your support through it all!”
On one hand, Hope’s exit makes sense. As TVLine’s sister site Soaps.com points out, Monday’s episode found Wyatt asking Sally to leave town — or at least leave him and Flo alone — following the reveal that Sally was faking a terminal illness. That said, the site notes that “most fans were looking forward to Sally being redeemed,” making the decision a bit more frustrating.
There’s another “Dancing with the Stars” baby on the way: Witney Carson is expecting her first child with her husband Carson McAllister.
“Baby McAllister coming Jan 2021!!!!! We can’t even contain our excitement and joy right now,” Carson posted on Instagram on Thursday with two shots of her holding a sonogram and pregnancy stick as McAllister hugs her. “We love this little bean so much already and we can’t wait to start this beautiful chapter in our lives!”
The 26-year-old, who won Season 19 with Alfonso Ribeiro, also posted an Instagram Story about the big news, captioning it, “We are beyond excited and so grateful.”
Carson and McAllister have been together for nine years, marrying on New Year’s Day 2016.
Carson’s announcement comes two months after her BFF, and fellow pro and “So You Think You Can Dance” alum Lindsay Arnold revealed that she was pregnant with her first child, due in November (imagine being pregnant at the same time as your BFF!). This means Season 29 of “Dancing” will be down two stalwart female pros this fall.
Sing On! Spain isn’t designed to find the next great pop star. It’s pure karaoke — large screens over the audience scrolls the words for the contestants to see — and pure game show. And Merino is so high energy that he immediately gets the crowd in party mode. The theme for the episode was a beach party, but the songs chosen were just everyday party songs, from “Firework” to a Spanish version of “I Love It” to the classic “Mi Gran Noche.”
The vibe continues with the method the contestants use to sing each song. They take turns singing song segments, and their names come up at random, so they need to be ready. Combine that with the parts they all sing, and it looks more like a fun performance than awkward karaoke. The contestants are into it and they seem to be happy to party even if they don’t win.
A couple of flaws distract from the viewing experience: one is the meter at the bottom that shows if the contestant singing has hit their notes or not. We tended to look at that and the percentages above them and not the performance. Also, it feels like the analysis system favored male voices, not matter whether the original song is sung by a man or woman.
It also feels like the person who put in the most solid performance by ear often didn’t do well with the analysis system, which was reflected when Merino gave his bonus to a contestant that didn’t even come close to winning the round. The voting is a little wobbly, too, as some contestants vote out the weakest singer to help grow the pot of money as much as they can, and others vote for the strongest singer. Perhaps using the computer would be more boring, but the voting often didn’t make any sense. But they somehow got to the two best singers anyway, so what do we know?

In these desperate times, the virus asked the govenors of all 50 states and the enitre world to stay home. But staying home doesn't mean you're bored and want to watch TV. You entertain to a virtual neighborhood and invite those you haven't seen as if you were going out. The stay at home orders forced us all to play Animal Crossing and Jackbox, but trivia nights are what we were missing when everybody remained in the house. Now the feeling of game nights are being brought to you on the internet thanks to this new segment called:
The Quarantine Olympics!
We go to Long Beach, California and a very popular family friendly podcast is going Game Night.....in a way you never thought possible.
At first they tried Jackbox Games since it was obviously, the most exciting way to cure quaratine boredom, but it wasn't family friendly enough because of.......well, writing. Nonetheless, they would play Animal Crossing or something else. So instead, they decided to do a trivia contest where every Skywalker......yes, Skywalker tries to get grilled all up in here with pop culture questions about different fandoms. Here's an example:
Instead of verbally asking the questions, they decide to act mute and turn on royalty free music so that you can focus on the questions at crowd.live and the code they give you while you compete for ultimate glory and respect. Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones will host the 72nd Emmy Awards nominations ceremony, which will be held Tuesday at 8:30 AM PT/11:30 AM ET as a livestream hosted by the Television Academy.
Jones will be joined by presenters Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany in the livestream, a virtual event this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Television has played an integral role in navigating these unprecedented times and has brought us together as we remain apart,” Frank Scherma, TV chairman and CEO, said Thursday. “We are honored to have these groundbreaking actors, producers and comedians announce this year’s Emmy nominees — whose extraordinary work has been vital to the evolution of the television landscape this season.”
Winners of this year’s Emmy Awards will be unveiled September 20 live on ABC in a ceremony hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel is executive producing the show with Reginald Hudlin.
Jones, an actor and comic, is host of ABC’s game show revival Supermarket Sweep, which cracked the network’s fall schedule and will air Sundays at 8 PM.
Alex Trebek usually asks all the questions, so we turned the tables and asked him one for a change. What would the Jeopardy! clue be for the question, "Who is Alex Trebek?"
"He's the avuncular host of a popular quiz show who has been around, it seems, forever," Trebek replies.
Trebek, who turns 80 on Wednesday, has been hosting Jeopardy! since 1984. When he was offered the position back then, he had no idea he'd stay with the show for the rest of his career. "It was a job," he says.
Trebek has long resisted writing an autobiography. "I always felt that I had nothing particularly relevant to say to our viewers," he explains. "I'm just a quiz show host who's been doing the same job for 36 years."
But in March 2019, Trebek announced that he had stage IV pancreatic cancer. "The outpouring from our viewers after I revealed my diagnosis ... that caught me by surprise and that humbled me a great deal," he says.
The Great British Bake Off is now two weeks back into production and will likely return to television later this year, according to producer Love Productions' parent company Sky Studios.
The baking competition series, which is shown by Channel 4 in the UK and Netflix in the U.S. (where it is known as The Great British Baking Show), was blown off course by the pandemic after it was meant to begin filming in April.
But Sky Studios CEO Gary Davey and chief commercial officer Jane Millichip offered fans some good news on Wednesday, with the former revealing that filming is "going very well."
Cast and crew, including new presenter Matt Lucas, were quarantined in the run-up to the shoot to allow close interaction on-set. There have also been reports that the show has moved to a more COVID-friendly location from its usual Welford Park home..
The stateside tour of British game show Taskmaster turned out to be exceedingly short.
The CW has pulled the series from its Sunday schedule after just a single episode, which drew a very small audience on Aug. 2. Reruns of Supernatural will fill the 9 p.m. Sunday slot for the next few weeks.
Taskmaster, which has run 10 seasons over five years in the U.K., stars comedian Greg Davies, who as Taskmaster assigns simple comedic and bizarre tasks to a group of five regular contestants, usually comics. Series creator Alex Horne acts as Davies' assistant on camera.
The show regularly tops 1 million viewers in the U.K. and won a BAFTA Award for best comedy entertainment program two days before its U.S. debut. Its premiere on The CW, however, drew only 212,000 same day viewers, the smallest audience for a first-run episode of any show on the network in 11 months. (An installment of extreme-sports docuseries Peaking in September 2019 brought in 190,000 people.) Its lead-in, Canadian food competition Fridge Wars, brought in 400,000 viewers with its premiere.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the show may migrate to the network's free streaming platform, CW Seed. It won't return to the on-air schedule.
Taskmaster is one of more than a dozen acquired series The CW is using to fill its schedule in the summer and fall while holding its regular lineup for early 2021. The network put together the makeshift schedule in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic to allow more time for its regular lineup of scripted series — including The Flash, Riverdale and Legacies — to assess how and when to resume filming.
And according to the Taskmaster envelope, it says.....introduce Audriix. That I will. Hit it!
Today I learned that if the CW did an import of Only Connect starring Victoria Coren......would it work?
Time for me to occupy the time clock. But i'll clock in once again when you hear this sound......
Then you know it's time for Livewire! Until next time, play on playas.
