The Double Toasted opening toss up story.

For America's Got Talent, returning to production in the midst of a global pandemic means making some major changes — and some significant cuts.

The NBC reality competition series has resumed production on its 15th season, having only completed six audition episodes before temporarily shutting down over the threat of coronavirus in March.

The first thing viewers will notice is the dramatic change of venue. Whereas AGT is traditionally filmed in a lavish Hollywood auditorium, the show is now relocating to an outdoor setup in Simi Valley that's designed to resemble a drive-in movie theater. The judges — Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and newcomer Sofia Vergara — will also sit an appropriate distance from one another. ("Wait until you see the vehicles the judges arrive in," the show's executive producers tell Deadline.)

Another major change is that there will only be one Judge Cuts episode this season (July 28), as opposed to the usual four. NBC is also peppering its schedule with a best-of special (July 21) and an anniversary celebration (Aug. 4) to accommodate the shift in production.

This season's live shows — which will find 44 acts performing across four weeks — are scheduled to begin on Aug. 11. And while producers are hoping to return to the Dolby Theatre, nothing has been nailed down just yet. It's also being discussed how to potentially include a physical or virtual audience in the mix.

Cowell says he's excited about the changes, especially because he feels that the Judge Cuts kill the momentum built by the high-energy Auditions. "I personally now would stick to this new way we've done it not just for the present but for the future," he tells Deadline. "I think it is a better show this year than it has been on previous years."

Additional precautions include regular testing, everyone wearing masks (including all the judges and host Terry Crews) except for when they are talking on camera, contestants and judges handling their own microphones, and a new pod system that will separate different areas of production. People on set were asked to stick to their specific zones and to talk via phone or walkie talkie when communicating with someone in another pod.

Speaking about the new format, Simon explains, "I always felt [like we] dropped in energy on the middle rounds, so I was always keen to change those middle shows. They never quite felt right to me. I personally now would stick to this new way we've done it not just for the present but for the future. I think it is a better show this year than it has been on previous years." .

The Big Brother house is under construction, offering a greenshoot of hope to fans that the CBS reality series will air this summer.

Deadline reports that preliminary production prep has begun on the show's set at CBS' Radford lot in Los Angeles. The production team has received approval to start preparation, meaning that there's a chance that the 22nd season of the John De Mol creation will air this summer.

However, it is still early days for the show's return as producers still need to receive union and guild approval to sign off on principal photography and filming. There is also no word yet on casting.

The teams that have begun work are, as you'd expect, following strict health and safety protocols with crew being tested for COVID-19 and continuing to be tested regularly. They are wearing PPE equipment and observing social distancing as they go about construction.

E!, the global, multi-platform brand for all things pop culture, announced the greenlight of a new special, "Celebrity Game Face," executive produced and hosted by Kevin Hart premiering on Monday, July 6 from 10pm-11:15pm ET/PT.

The special features Hart and his wife Eniko along with couples Terry and Rebecca King Crews, Sarah Hyland and her fiancé Wells Adams, and Joel and Sarah McHale, marking Joel's first appearance back on the network since he hosted "The Soup."

The Harts lead the teams through a hilarious game night full of fun, fresh and wildly unexpected moments, as the celebrities engage in a range of ridiculous physical challenges that viewers can play along at home. The pairs will show off their teenage dance moves in a tik "talk" challenge, feed each other a messy meal with a twist, attempt to interpret what their partners are saying while their mouths are full and race through their homes to find unexpected items to solve riddles. At the end of the night, the couples are awarded money for their charity of choice, but only one team will win the coveted "Hart of a Champion" trophy, which is a gold statue of baby Kevin Hart.

"Celebrity Game Face" is produced by Critical Content and HartBeat Productions with Kevin Hart, Jenny Daly, Tom Forman, Jon Beyer, Bryan Smiley, Mike Stein and Michael Canter serving as Executive Producers.

Channel 4 has announced a new hair-based game show for its E4 social media channels.

Provisionally titled, Keep Your Hair On, the five-minute game show will see contestants go head to head to win the hairstyle of their dreams, but if they lose, they'll end up with the lockdown locks of nightmares.

The format comes from the co-creators of The Chase, Sharp Jack TV.

Those taking part will compete for the chance of getting the hairstyle they have always wanted, but there is twist. They must face a round of amusing general knowledge questions asked by The Mirror.

Elliot Johnson, Joint-MD of Sharp Jack TV, said: "With hair salons across the UK closed, the nation's locks have grown wild and unruly. So what better way to get the ultimate lockdown look than visiting the Keep Your Hair On (w/t), salon - there really is nothing to lose, except your hair, your credibility and that weekend Tinder date!"

Now some news on where DWTS came from.

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 will begin in October, it's been reported. The BBC previously confirmed that this year's Strictly would have a shorter run due to the ongoing health crisis.

"The Strictly Come Dancing team are doing everything they can to bring the nation plenty of Strictly magic later this year," they said. "The safety of our cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us and further updates will be made in due course."

According to The Sun newspaper, the series will launch on October 24 and run for nine weeks - four fewer than usual.

"BBC bosses are doing everything in their power to give the public as much Strictly as they possibly can and safely," a source told the tabloid. They explained: "A heavily reduced schedule gives them a lot longer to pre-record certain segments to minimise risk. "It does mean it will be starting much later in the year, and will finish very close to Christmas with the final currently scheduled for December 19." It's expected that the shorter run will mean fewer celebrities on the line up."

Now a follow along on The Cube.

Phillip Schofield has confirmed the return of The Cube.

The This Morning host took to his Instagram story on Sunday (July 5) to confirm the interactive reality game show will return following its disappearance from screens in 2015, with a post encouraging people to apply for the forthcoming series. "Yes!!!" Phillip wrote. "Game on! Can you Beat the Cube?"

Contestants were forced to compete in a series of challenges while inside a small Perspex cube. It highlighted how even straightforward tasks, like catching, throwing, estimating, memorizing and balancing were more difficult when confined and under pressure in a small area surrounded by a large live studio audience. The producers used state-of-the-art filming techniques to show the anxiety of the contestants, who were playing for the chance to win a top prize of £250,000 (almost $313,000).

Deadline reports that the commercial broadcaster is set to significantly increase the potential prize money in the reboot.

One suggestion is that the show will return in a similar fashion to the reboot of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, which came back for a series of Jeremy Clarkson-hosted specials.
