In addition to directing Charlie’s Angels, and starring in the film as Bosley, Banks was one of the reboot’s producers and wrote the screenplay. Undoubtedly, the end result isn’t a positive one for those hoping to get a sequel. Even overseas, where the film did better, it only managed $7.8 million in the important market of China. Still, the film has its share of badass moments and even mixed evaluations of the reboot’s merits find positives.

Elizabeth Banks admits that the Charlie’s Angels reboot is a flop, even appearing to joke about it, but says she’s proud of the film nonetheless. Banks directed the reboot, which earned $8 million domestically during its opening weekend. It had been projected to reach slightly above $13 million. Even though the action comedy fared better overseas, earning $19 million, its third place debut on the box office charts has been viewed as a disappointment. Many industry analysts have been discussing possible reasons for the lackluster performance, arriving at similar conclusions. The failure of Charlie’s Angels to ascend has been linked primarily to franchise fatigue, with experts citing it as the latest example of how audiences aren’t that excited to see updated versions of old stories in theaters.
Posting on her Twitter account, Banks acknowledged the negative headlines surrounding the reboot humorously and bluntly. She owned the fact that she is heavily linked to the project, in more ways than one, albeit she was also adamant that she was proud of the film and happy for its existence. Check out the tweet below.
Well, if you’re going to have a flop, make sure your name is on it at least 4x. I’m proud of #CharliesAngels and happy it’s in the world.

ITV is forecasting that revenue at its production arm, ITV Studios, will grow at least 5% in 2019 thanks to a bumper year in the U.S. where it has delivered shows including Love Island for CBS.
In a third-quarter trading update on Tuesday, ITV said that ITV Studios’ total sales should increase to around £1.8BN ($2.3BN) in 2019, with CEO Carolyn McCall highlighting “good growth across the business, particularly from ITV America.”
Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen and TNT drama Snowpiercer were among the other shows she namechecked as she reflected on the performance this year, although it was not all good news. McCall said the “phasing of deliveries” of shows this year will “adversely impact ITV Studios’ performance in 2020.”
ITV Studios’ revenue stood at £1.1BN for the nine months to the end of September, which was up 1% on the same period in 2018, according to the trading update. However, this gain was offset by a decline in advertising revenue, which meant ITV’s overall revenue has fallen for the year to date.
The company’s total external sales stood at £2.2BN for the first nine months of 2019, down 2% year-on-year. Advertising revenue fell 3% to £1.24BN, with ad sales expected to be down 2% for the full 12 months of 2019.
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Beth Mowins, the first female broadcaster to ever call a nationally televised NFL game (ESPN’s season-opening Monday Night Football doubleheader in September 2017) will continue her pioneering ways when she becomes the first person to ever call play-by-play for The Price is Right and its Wheel, star of the showcase showdown.
The popular American gameshow (M-F at 11 a.m.- Noon ET/10-11 a.m. PT on CBS) hosted by Drew Carey invited Mowins to take part in its college rivals special taping, timed to air before college football’s big rivalry weekend when conference or state foes square off for bragging rights.
For Mowins, the decision to expand her play-by-play dossier was an easy one.
“As a kid, whenever you had a sick day or a snow day, this is what you watched in the morning. You’d have your grilled cheese, dip it in your tomato soup, and watch The Price is Right. It’s a dream come true,” she said.
To prepare for her role, Mowins watched prior episodes to practice calling the wheel numbers the way she would call yards for a football game, and researched stats about key rivalry matchups. On the day of taping, with the help of her husband and stepson, she rehearsed on set in real time.
After the taping with a live studio audience, Mowins said the experience of calling the Wheel wasn’t too far off from her day job.
“There was drama, suspense, the thrill of victory. It had it all.”
As for Carey, whose idea it was for a play-by-play caller to join the show, he was pleased.
This weekend, Mowins will be teaming with analyst Anthony Becht and sideline reporter Rocky Boiman to call No. 22 Oklahoma State at West Virginia at Noon ET on Saturday, Nov. 23, on ESPN2.
And this photo proves it.
Michael Strahan is one of the most affable and likable guys on television and he does a nice job with his portfolio of jobs, which is expansive. Let's just get that out of the way right now. But it beggars belief that he could be impervious to the proper pronunciation of Manhattan's Houston Street.
And yet ...
Any tourist learns that it's HOWS-ton by the third day.
Strahan spent his entire 15 year career with the Giants. He used to live in Tribeca, just south of this important East-West thruway. I'm at a loss here.
Live television will bring about slips of the tongues. It is very possible Strahan hasn't been telling cab drivers to take him to Texas' largest city for decades. It's also very possible no one has had the bravery to correct him.
For the last time today, we'd thought we'd bring up the Aces of Improv with.................an opera.
