This time around, ABC is not spilling the beans on which star is paired with which pro until the season premiere.
Elsewhere, Bergeron, the longtime host of ABC's Dancing With The Stars, isn't happy with the booking of Sean Spicer,
In a tweet today following the casting announcement, Bergeron wrote that he had hoped the upcoming 28 season "would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably divisive bookings from ANY party affiliations." In fact, Bergeron said he left a lunch with the show's new executive producer (that would be Andrew Llinares) a few months ago and thought they were in agreement. "Subsequently (and rather obviously)," Bergeron continued, "a decision was made to, as we often say in Hollywood, 'go in a different direction."

Bergeron wasn't the only Hollywood figure disappointed with the booking. Bill Prader, executive producer of The Big Bang Theory, tweeted, "Sean Spicer lied repeatedly to the American people and literally defended Hitler. @ABC Network: "Yes, but can he fox trot? Tune in to see!"

For his part, Spicer was enthusiastic. "It's time to have some fun," he tweeted this morning.

All internet freakout-ness aside, it's time for teh Yay & Yawn of August. No freaking out around here, people.

The yay: Celebrity Family Feud. Popular gamer Tyler "Ninja" blevins had a full circle moment this past week when his celebrity family came on the show. Amazing!

The Yawn: Fred Savage. Just when you thought he dealt with........"Child Support........", his new Fox parody talk show "What Just Happened?" sank lower in the ratings week after week when the show first started. That's what just happened. At least a 30-year reunion of "The Wizard" is still in the air.

After this commercial word,  Food Network is getting out its costumes for a scary experience.
You'll see why when Game Show Live returns.

Hey......what's that noise?

Don't laugh.

Rebel Wilson has signed on to host the Australian edition of Amazon's international comedy competition, Last One Laughing.

Wilson is known for her work in the films Bridesmaids, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and the Pitch Perfect franchise.

I got a letter from teh Game Show Live! mailroom and it came from Zachary Corsetti. It says this................

I just went on the website and want to confirm this as the final results for giving out the final Patrick J. Wayne Memorial Dishonour Trophy on Sunday:
  1. The Fall of HQ - Never even understood the app to begin with.
  2. Spin the Wheel (FOX) - I knew this would happen right from the start.
  3. TKO: Total Knock Out (CBS) - I saw this show, and it was enjoyably bad while it lasted. (This coming from someone who loves American Ninja Warrior as much as every conservative pundit on Net Game Central.)
  4. Million Dollar Mile (CBS) - Dodged this one and The Titan Games like a BULLET.
  5. WoF's Delicious Destinations Week (Syndication) - I stopped watching Wheel a while back, so I can't comment.
The main reason why I'm talking to you now is because I was visiting Pierre Kelly's Game Show Live (formerly GSNTheKnow) blog and learned that he does an annual game show lookback blog, with a category for the worst of the year, so I want him to start naming his "Worst Show of the Year Award" after Patrick Wayne starting in 2020. See you round!

Aww......thank you Zachary. It's so great to have a blog where people from everywhere gather around give you a weekly voice of the fan spill the soda on game shows and reality TV from around the world. I'm so both shocked and ecstatic at the same exact time as to why they gave me an award after myself. Of course, my end of year honors has a WTH? Award. The choices you've just seen may change due to the opinion of the newsroom. We have one musical act confirmed and agreed to perform this year. We'll tell you later, but Madison Brunoehler will tell you when you could write to us. Madi?

Madison: To write to Pierre with your questions, comments or just plain fun stuff,  please send it to the email address below or write it via snail mail to:
GAME SHOW LIVE!
1711 ALLY MAQUE DRIVE, Ste. 101
GRIMSBOROUGH
Be sure to include a self addressed Stamped envelope when you write. Back to a man named after.....well........himself, Pierre Kelly!

Me: Thanks Madi. Wonder if you were named after Madison Avenue?

Premiering on Hallmark Drama this holiday season, the five-part weekly series kicks off with a pool of two-person teams, with each consisting of one home baker alongside a different star from "When Calls the Heart."
In each episode, Boyd and Hutchinson will judge as the contestants go spatula-to-spatula in a variety of Christmas cookie and holiday dessert competitions. "Christmas Cookie Matchup" marks the first-ever original content developed for Hallmark Drama since the network launched in 2017.

However, I'm not yet festive, so let's get to a Gamestop game break. Since Labor Day weekend is near, let's test your knowledge on labor unions.

https://youtu.be/DliUjhJcgs4

Jimmy Hoffa was involved in the pension plans of what labor union?

We'll give you teh answer after a Google Play music interlude because as I told you, we have one musical act already in the GSL honors and that is RKVC, our Love Connection dating wranglers trying out Acoustic August. Alright guys, go to it!!!!!!

ANd after that......The Answer: International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Hoffa achieved his goal of unifying all freight drivers under a single collective bargaining agreement, the National Master Freight Agreement, in 1964. Hoffa used the grievance procedures of the agreement, which authorized selective strikes against particular employers, to police the agreement or, if Hoffa thought that it served the union's interest, to drive marginal employers out of the industry. The union won substantial gains for its members, fostering a nostalgic image of the Hoffa era as the golden age for Teamster drivers. Hoffa also succeeded where Tobin had failed, concentrating power at the international level, dominating the conferences which Beck and Dobbs had helped build.
In addition, Hoffa was instrumental in using the assets of the Teamsters' pension plans, particularly the Central States plan, to support Mafia projects, such as the development of Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s. Pension funds were loaned to finance Las Vegas casinos such as the Stardust Resort & Casino, the Fremont Hotel & Casino, the Desert Inn, the Dunes (hotel and casino) (which was controlled by Hoffa's attorney, Morris Shenker), the Four Queens, the Aladdin Hotel & CasinoCircus Circus, and Caesars Palace. The pension fund also made a number of loans to associates and relatives of high-ranking Teamster officials. A close associate of Hoffa during this period was Allen Dorfman. Dorfman owned an insurance agency that provided insurance claims processing to the Teamsters' union, and which was the subject of an investigation by the McClellan Committee. Dorfman also had increasing influence over loans made by the Teamsters' pension fund, and after Hoffa went to prison in 1967, Dorfman had primary control over the fund. Dorfman was murdered in January 1983, shortly after his conviction, along with Teamsters' president Roy Lee Williams, in a bribery case.[150]
Hoffa was, moreover, defiantly unwilling to reform the union or limit his own power in response to the attacks from Robert F. Kennedy, formerly chief counsel to the McClellan Committee, then Attorney General. Kennedy's Department of Justice tried to convict Hoffa for a variety of offenses over the 1960s, finally succeeding on a witness tampering charge in 1964, with key testimony provided by Teamsters business agent Edward Grady Partin of Baton RougeLouisiana. After exhausting his appeals, Hoffa entered prison in 1967.
Hoffa installed Frank Fitzsimmons, an associate from his days in Local 299 in Detroit, to hold his place for him while he served time. Fitzsimmons, however, began to enjoy the exercise of power in Hoffa's absence; in addition, the organized crime figures around him found that he was more pliant than Hoffa had been. While President Nixon's pardon barred Hoffa from resuming any role in the Teamsters until 1980, Hoffa challenged the legality of that condition and planned to run again for presidency of the union, but disappeared in 1975 under mysterious circumstances. He is presumed dead, although his body has never been found.

Can you believe Summer is almost over? Well, our chief mechanic of the PYL Big board Stewdippin has a look at what's to come in the fall.

Here's our last segment. One blog post in Game Show Follies involved NYSI '89. In it, Casey Abell said this:

"Often the rumors start as an "explanation" for why GSN or Buzzr never reran some ancient show. It doesn't seem to dawn on the rumormongers that some old shows don't get TV time because they flopped or they weren't very good (or both). The rumor guys usually think that almost every old game show was some kind of classic, so there has to be an arcane conspiracy theory to explain why the shows never see the light of television.

Now You See It was a pretty good show, in my opinion, but it never drew much of an audience. That's why even Buzzr doesn't rerun the show any more. You don't have to invent rumors to explain it."

But sometimes, you need a second opinon. Here's my opinion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kjFXZIOO2s

When CBS decided to get rid of a hit remake of Card Sharks back in 1989 with another Goodson-Todman Game Now You See It, this was a downer to some game show fans. Most affiliates who had Card Sharks for years decided not to. Why? It was because they think it wanted to have something else on there. Plus, most stations have never heard of Chuck Henry. The gameplay was much different than the 1974 original, but the qualifying round's questions was current events based on what the writers read or watched the news on TV and Chuck's connection to the news world made this show a perfect fit for it. Despite a spacey set and a theme song that should've gotten replaced with an updated version or the NYSI halftime cue as a theme in the first place like it did in international versions, NYSI '89 didn't last that long and Chuck's career as game show host was gone in a wink. But the one question on any fan's mind is..............Did they rerun it? Well, GSN and buzzr had already done did it with the Narz version but not the 1989 version.......yet. because despite rumors that per Chuck's request not to see them as why he embarrased himself and may tarnish his rep as news anchor, our librarian Adam Nedeff tells us that GSN wasn't interested in it despite holding on to the tapes. Guess it was Classic Concentration that easily knocked its head off. Its replacement until moving back to it's original home in 1991: Wheel of Fortune with Bob Goen.
