Now who's The Champ?

America’s Got Talent: The Champions and the second season of American Gods helped drive revenues and profit at Fremantle.
The RTL-owned producer and distribute reported revenue growth of 23.2% in the first half of 2019 to €828M ($747M) from €672M in the same period last year. EBITA was also up significantly from €33M to €52M.
America’s Got Talent: The Champions was a hit on NBC with an average audience of 12.4M viewers resulting in a 12.3 share, 50% higher than the network’s primetime average. Similarly, the 14th season of America’s Got Talent launched in May 2019 performed well, while American Idol was ABC’s number one entertainment series of the 2018/19 season.

Bob Eubanks still has game.
The man who hosted the Newlywed Game for decades is back with a new live show called Hollywood’s Greatest Game Shows, and he's coming to Edmonton.
“We play our version of the Newlywed Game. We call it the Not So Newlywed Game. We also have our version of Card Sharks and we have one called Shake Your Booty. which is just funnier than heck," Eubanks told CTV News Edmonton.
Eubanks was the first host of the Newlywed Game. He says the concept for the show was drawn up on a napkin in 1966, then showcased to American TV executives shortly after.
“This is a true story," said Eubanks. “There was a cute little blond girl and I said, 'What’s your favourite nickname for your husband?' She said, 'Numb nuts,' and the ABC guys went upstairs and bought the show without a pilot!”
Eubanks went on to host the Newlywed Games and other game shows for decades. But while he was doing that he also promoted concerts. His first one was at the Hollywood Bowl in 1964 when he brought in the Beatles.
“The other concert promoter in town passed. He said. 'I’m not paying $25,000 for those for long-haired guys,' recalls Eubanks. “So I borrowed the money on my house and presented the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl.”
Eubanks went on to promote and manage the careers of many artists including Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard and The Everly Brothers. Although Eubanks doesn’t promote concerts  anymore, he does a show where he tells stories about the Beatles while a Fab Four tribute band provides the music.
He also travels North America with his Hollywood’s Greatest Game Shows production, which will be at the River Cree Casino Sep. 7 and 8. He says at age 81 he has no plans to slow down.
“Retirement is not in my vocabulary. My oldest son is 60, my youngest in 16.”

We have a message from REW regarding Tellymime and the network in general.

We'll keep you posted as to when they'll resume once the storm passes.

Scared?

Fremantle is developing an English-language scripted project starring Indonesian magician and illusionist The Sacred Riana after striking a partnership with Indonesian firm Wahana Kreator Nusantara.
The American Gods producer is developing horror anthology The Sacred Riana: Bedtime Stories, an English-language series inspired by folklore and urban legends. The Sacred Riana got to the quarter finals of America’s Got Talent.
The two companies are also adapting a local podcast into a scripted series. Ex Addicts, which is based on the Klub Kecanduan Mantan podcast, is a romantic comedy series centered around the lives of a group of quirky people with one common ailment: they can’t get over their exes. In desperation, they establish a support group to help them in their efforts to move on.
Fremantle’s Asia Pacific CEO Chris Oliver-Taylor said: “The Sacred Riana: Bedtime Stories is an outstanding addition to Fremantle’s global drama slate. The fact that we are developing an international drama for the world stage, led by an Indonesian superstar such as The Sacred Riana, just shows us all how our industry is changing and great content can come from all corners of the world.”
“We are really excited about our partnership with Fremantle and thrilled to be involved with The Sacred Riana: Bedtime Stories”, added Salman Aristo, CEO of Wahana Kreator Nusantara. “Fremantle is an ideal partner to support us in developing the episodic drama, Ex Addicts, based on our Klub Kecanduan Mantan podcast, which was recently released on the Joox music streaming platform.”

Are you hungry to witness a rage-filled chef throw platters of undercooked filet mignons and raw scallops against the wall to express his anger at cowering inept cooks? Yeah, me too. With September just around the corner, it got me thinking about when the premiere of the 19th season of Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” might commence.
Last year, the 18th season kicked off on Sept. 28 and ended on Feb. 8 this year. The theme was “Rookies vs. Veterans,” and the winner was Ariel Fox, who found redemption after coming in third place on Season 6. Fox turned down the job of being executive chef of Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen restaurant at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Instead, she went back to her job as concept executive chef for Dos Caminos, which has five restaurants in and around Manhattan.
Soon after, there was an announcement saying that the cooking competition reality show that began in 2005 was renewed for an 18th and 19th season and, instead of shooting in Los Angeles, the show would be staged at the Las Vegas eatery. At an event there in March, “The Las Vegas News Journal” reported that taping for Season 18 would start last spring.
Some more details can be found at Fandom’s Hell’s Kitchen 19 page — as well as some speculation.  Season 7 runner-up Jay Santos will replace Jocky as the blue team’s sous chef for the blue team for the next two seasons. Among the guest judges are chef Laurent Tourondel of the BLT group, actress Justene Alpert and Olympian speed skater Apolo Ohno.
However, even though fan comments on the page confirm that Season 19’s filming wrapped the first week of May, the Fox schedule that was released in that same month reveals that “WWE Smackdown Live” will premiere on Oct. 4 in “Hell’s Kitchen’s” usual Friday night time slot. Yes, it is hard to wait when our appetite for Ramsay’s dinner service outbursts yearn to be sated. But let’s hope 2020 brings us heaping helpings of  the chef’s “bleeping” takedowns.

Time to check the Game Show Live! bulletin board.

An open casting call for renowned CBS game show The Price is Right will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17 in The Shops at Mohegan Sun from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Here's your chance at fame, and maybe big prizes.

For a few days each year, a large horde of Canadians descend on Seattle.
And Ken Jennings, for one, has had enough of it.
The author, podcast host and former 'Jeopardy!' champion took to Twitter to grouse about the mob that crosses the border every year to watch baseball.
"My favorite summer thing in Seattle is when 20,000 surprisingly awful Canadians drive down to watch a Blue Jays game and then the Mariners win," Jennings tweeted late Friday night.
The Major League Baseball schedule typically gives the Toronto Blue Jays one series in Seattle per year. The games often provide the Mariners with some of their largest crowds of the year, as Blue Jays fans from B.C. make the relatively short trip to Seattle and drown out their hometown counterparts.
In 2017, the Seattle Times reported that it was possible more than half of the 40,000 or so fans at T-Mobile Park during that year's series were Blue Jays fans. Toronto players seem to enjoy the unusually boisterous road reception they get there, often commenting that it reminds them of a playoff atmosphere.
The reaction from Seattle has been less favourable. A host with Seattle radio station 710 ESPN referred to Jays fans as "rude house guests" in 2017, arguing that the Canadian invaders are poor hecklers and violate baseball etiquette by directing their ire at the Mariners' fans instead of their players.
It was these sorts of sentiments that Jennings – whose first brush with celebrity involved a still-record 74-show winning streak on 'Jeopardy!' in 2004 – was  channeling when he directed his frustrations toward Twitter.
This year's visit to Seattle by the Blue Jays is taking place this weekend. Seattle did indeed win the first game of the series Friday night, but lost to Toronto Saturday in the first game since Jennings' tweet. The rubber match takes place Sunday.
Jennings' claim that the Mariners often beat the Blue Jays does not stand up based on recent history. Toronto took three out of four games in Seattle in 2018, two out of three in 2017 and two out of three in 2016. Seattle fared much better in the first half of the decade, compiling a 11-4 home record against the Jays between 2011 and 2015.
Jennings, whose tweets generally feature tongue-in-cheek quips and whose podcasts suggest he is generally enthusiastic about Canada, doubled down on his initial message in follow-up tweets, saying Seattleites were "tired" of hosting Canada's "20,000 [expletive]faced transplants named Gord" and arguing that the Mariners' win that night meant Canadians should start to spell "favourite" without the letter "u."
"I'm cyberbullying Canada," he tweeted at one point.
He also questioned why B.C. residents seem to prefer cheering for the Jays to supporting "their regional Cascadia team." Vancouver is located 4,000 kilometres from Toronto and less than 250 kilometres from Seattle.
Canadians responded as Canadians often do when challenged by Americans, touting Canada's health care system and apologizing for the actions of their fellow citizens.
"We don't mind. We probably did something to deserve it. Sorry!!" one user wrote.
Barring surprise playoff runs from Toronto and Seattle – a virtual impossibility, given how far down the standings both teams are – the Blue Jays will next return to Seattle July 24-26, 2020

As expectedArtem Chigvintsev is not returning to “Dancing with the Stars” this season — and neither is reigning champ Sharna Burgess. The two pros were MIA during Wednesday’s cast announcement on “Good Morning America,” and both shared in lengthy Instagram posts shortly afterwards that they were sad and disappointed not to be returning.
“I just want to say how sad it makes me feel not to be part of Season 28 of ‘DWTS,’ Chigvintsev wrote. “It’s been 10 years since I have joined this absolutely, one of a kind, incredible show! It has given me recognition as a dancer, choreographer and a teacher. I have had so many beautiful memories with all of my celebrity partners! They all have shaped me into the person that I am today.”

Chigvintsev’s exclusion was anticipated after he and his girlfriend and Season 25 partner, Nikki Bella, heavily implied as such on Instagram over the weekend after he had a mysterious “bad day” and she spoke of new beginnings professionally and personally.
Burgess’ absence was not hinted at beforehand, but she had been one of the longer-tenured pros of the current crop, having been on every season since Season 16, and she finally got her (controversial) win last season with Bobby Bones.

“As I’m sure you’ve heard, I will not be returning to @dancingabc this season. I am unbelievably sad to not be back!!!” she wrote. “However, what i can whole heartedly tell you is that It’s all good, ALL love and in this moment I can’t help but be grateful for the time and the journey that I’ve had, the people I’ve met, the incredible talent I’ve shared the stage with and the memories I’ve made. To say the least.. it’s been epic. ♥️ and to have finally won still feels as exciting and special as it did the moment @tombergeron said our names.”

MTV nabs America's "Bachelorette" sweetheart Rachel Lindsay and recording artist Travis Mills to host its new docuseries, "MTV's Ghosted: Love Gone Missing" which is set to premiere on Tuesday, September 10 at 9:00PM ET/PT with back-to-back episodes.
In the eight-episode docuseries, Lindsay and Mills help distraught individuals track down and confront a former lover, friend, or family member in an effort to uncover the harsh realities of why they "ghosted" them.
The term "Ghosting," the act of ending a relationship by abruptly cutting off communication without explanation, was born out of the current ever-changing digital landscape. The investigative series explores how social media has connected the world more than ever, while also undercutting our ability to deeply connect and communicate.
