The fate of The World’s Best, CBS’ high-profile entertainment format hosted by James Corden, remains up in the air but if it did get picked up the broadcaster would “tweak the format”.
The global talent competition, which featured RuPaul Charles, Drew Barrymore and Faith Hill as judges, launched after the Super Bowl but struggled to keep hold of much of this audience over its subsequent 11 episodes.
Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, speaking at summer TCA press tour, said that it had not made a decision whether to renew the show, which hails from reality TV heavyweights Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell.
“We really enjoyed the show creatively, we thought it was really well done, we thought James was amazing in it, the acts were fantastic and James got an Emmy nomination for it,” he said.
However, he added if it was to return, it would be a slightly different show. “There were a lot of things we learned over the course of the season and if we were to come back and try it again, we would do some things differently and we’d probably tweak the format a little but we have not made a decision,” he added.
The World’s Best featured acts from every genre imaginable, from every corner of the planet. They not only have to impress American judges, but will also need to break through the “wall of the world,” featuring 50 of the world’s most accomplished experts from every field of entertainment. The winning act will ultimately be crowned The World’s Best.
It is produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television, MGM Television and Fulwell 73 Productions. Executive producing the series are Mike Darnell, Mark Burnett, James Corden, Ben Winston, Brooke Karzen, Dan Sacks, Alison Holloway, James Breen and Barry Poznick.

Former “American Idol” contestant Antonella Barba faces a minimum of 10 years in prison after agreeing to plead guilty to drug possession with intent to distribute in federal court in Virginia.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Barba was arrested last October after police began investigating a man they believed to be the source of drugs in the area. She was found at an apartment connected to the dealer with nearly two pounds of fentanyl in her possession and charged with possession and intent.
She faces a minimum of 10 years in prison up to a life sentence and $10 million in fines.
The Virginian-Pilot reported following her arrest that Barba was carrying enough fentanyl to kill 415,000 people, based on Drug Enforcement Administration statistics.
Barba appeared on the sixth season of “Idol” in 2007 during the show’s Fox run. She reached the top 16 before being eliminated. She also appeared on an episode of “Fear Factor.”

During lunch break yesterday, I drove on down to The Stuhm, Blahnn Inn. But the logo for it got knocked out and with renovations already underway, this went out on Instagram.....

Yep. Here Be Dragons. because the previous name was too tongue in cheek to catch up to many DND streaming fans who watch every week. But on the bill tomorrow......

That's because Hal & Nathan are connected to Swagbucks Live. So drop by Here Be Dragons at 6 pm CDT tomorrow. And while you're there, I'm going to let Lauren Ondracek sing since it's her birthday week. Um......Lauren?

Why High Rollers like Classic Movies

Hollywood stars will be hitting the high seas this fall. The Turner Classic Movies Cruise will set sail from Oct. 22 to 27 and will be decked out with top talent, including "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek.
The cable channel is marking its 25th anniversary this year by offering its first cruise since 2016. Trebek, 78, who hosted movie trivia contests and screenings on the cruise from 2012 to 2016, is coming back despite being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March. He told People magazine in May that he had made remarkable progress since undergoing treatment and the disease was "near remission."
Trebek won't be the only star onboard the Disney Magic for the five-night excursion which sails from New York City to Bermuda. Mitzi Gaynor, who starred opposite Marilyn Monroe in "There's No Business Like Show Business" (1954) and played Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific" (1958), is also slated to appear, along with Cicely Tyson, a best actress Oscar nominee for "Sounder" (1972) and an Emmy winner for "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman" (1974).

And from teh department of confusion....

Comes This.

https://milehighsticking.com/2019/07/28/colorado-avalanche-players-in-insightful-match-game/

The Colorado Avalanche did some different skits throughout the season. Often the main purposes of the videos is for entertainment during TV timeouts or intermission at the games. However, we get to enjoy them at home, too.
One of the skits they recorded this year was the Match Game. The skit was based on a game show that started in the 1960s in which contestants tried to match answers given by celebrity panelists.

The Avalanche version of the game was meant to test two players’ knowledge of each other. (I think they got the Match Game and the Newlywed Game mixed up.)
Now, naturally, players get to know each other really well. But that’s especially true when they’re roommates, such as J.T. Compher and Alexander Kerfoot. You’d think that would give the other two players, Ryan Graves and Mark Barberio, a distinct disadvantage. After all, a kid bouncing up and down from the minors and an oft-scratched grinder might be forgiven for not knowing each other well.

Here's the video to prove it. Sinema:

That however is in the vein of teh Newlywed Game. The real OG Match Game is this.......

See there?

Game shows past and present have civilians who are contestants and what it is turns out to be true. That's why at Game Show Live!, we have created the most efficient card to a deserving contestant. We have created.......The Game Show Live! Players card. Accepted by every game show contestant...........today. WE turn in the card to......

Mariana Villareal.

Mariana Villarreal appears on an episode of the Fox game show "Spin the Wheel."
It's a high stakes game show that gives contestants the chance to win millions of dollars.
Excitement doesn't start with "Spin the Wheel" for Mariana, it all started when she was waitressing in Roswell, Georgia.
She had a regular customer coming, and the more they spoke she found out that he was going through dialysis, and needed a kidney.
After a while of thinking and praying Mariana says she decided to donate one of her kidney's to the gentlemen.
Her take: one lonely circle that says..........um..........zero. But it's priceless that she gets the Game Show Live! Players Card.  Accepted by every game show contestant...........today.

It's time to get your laugh on and your smile on too, because in anticipation of our announcer in your head's birthday next Monday, here's our Match Game mistress of impressionism doing TikTok stuff. Check it.

That's all for now, but remember one thing: Hasn't there been a version of The dating Game with the Women's US soccer team as bachelorettes?

So until next time and all the time.....play on playas.
