Eventually......

But in the end, Cathy made sure that she's still has life in the tank.

I sense that it's time to survey teh damage of what was left of the tropical storm of news in July with this month's Yay & Yawn.

The yay:  Home Game Entertainment. They went to a Glendale, CA. hotel, threw a party for game show fans, and in 25 hours, raised $6000 for CMN. This was one last hurrah!

The yawn: Out of Tune. Just when the party house got some renovations for season 2......in came the wrecking ball via Instagram post telling them the bad news. Even Cheddar dropped it quietly as did teh app. Lodi Dodi, every day was a party. It was an app that turned boring into extraordinary. May it RIP in teh live mobile trivia app graveyard.

After this commercial word, somebody wanted to HQ out, but they said......nah.

You'll see why when Game Show Live returns.

(fade to break)

Me: Thank you Madi and welcome back.  COuld you believe Summer is almost over with? I know, the kids are getting back in school and one thing that we all like about summer...........Blockbuster movies. Look at the Turbo Grafx-16 Cineplex.....They got Marvel Movies opening up at midnight in South Grimsborough. But the boys at the Loop SHow somewhere in Thrillville have a  say in them.

And now for news about an ongoing virus that just won't definitely kill itself.

Some companies announce subscription products through press releases. Others have them tweeted out by the CEO.
Last month, HQ Words — HQ's third game following HQ Trivia & HQ Sports — tweeted about a future $9.99 per month subscription product. In response, HQ Words players scoffed at the high price. Sources say the external response was just one facet: HQ employees had no idea about the new initiative, leading to confusion internally.
That's just one example of the internal confusion at HQ Trivia, which in October 2017 was heralded as the future of TV.
A few months short of two years later, the company's future is in question, and the company has now turned down a new funding round from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Digiday has learned.
To its credit, HQ did become a viral sensation and made millions of dollars in revenue over the last year, unlike many consumer app startups that leave that for much later in their history. HQ had made $15 million since the company's inception to February, the Wall Street Journal reported at the time. It launched sponsored games with Nike and Warner Brothers and later secured other big-name advertisers like NBC, ABC and CBS. This month, HQ's sponsored show for "The Lego Movie 2" was nominated for an Emmy.
But HQ needs money, not just Emmy nominations. TechCrunch reported in April that HQ was burning through $1 million a month. The games may be free to play — for now — but they're far from free to produce. To keep existing, HQ is looking beyond advertising to monetize its user base with more in-app purchases like gaming apps have done. (For HQ Trivia, extra lives go for $3.99 for one and $9.99 for three.)
An HQ spokesperson told Digiday that the company has made $5 million from in-app purchases alone.
Simultaneously, HQ is working on programmatic advertising, the spokesperson said. HQ also sought to cut costs through layoffs.
On July 1, HQ laid off 20% of its staff, shrinking to under 30 employees. It's another step in low morale that has pushed other HQ employees to voluntarily leave for new positions, including its marketing manager and two brand partnership leads, per LinkedIn. HQ is hiring for engineering roles, according to LinkedIn. All these efforts come as HQ recently turned down a term sheet of new funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The new funds could have helped HQ make some big hires in charge of making more shows or be put toward marketing to boost its declining viewerships. But the deal came with a caveat. In February 2018, HQ raised $15 million at a $100 million post-money valuation, led by Founders Fund with participation from Lightspeed. This round would have been a down round, sources say.

That sucks, isn't it.

While A&E does have Live PD, we found this that made Dan and company proud.

Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee is to front A&E's canine competition series America's Top Dog alongside expert trainer and former Secret Service member Nick White. The pair are to front the series, which sees four police K9 teams, including the dogs from the hit police series Live PD, compete against one civilian team in each episode for the title of Top Dog.
The teams will be tested on their speed, agility, and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on a massive obstacle course including navigating a complex maze for scented items and apprehending and taking down a suspect in a bite suit, among a variety of other challenges. Each week's winning team will receive $10,000 and an additional $5,000 to donate to the animal charity of their choice. In the final week of competition, top competitors will return to the finale course to battle for the title of "America's Top Dog" and an additional $25,000 cash prize.
Menefee, who also hosts wrap-up show The OT, and White, who was a former U.S. Marine, will be joined by sideline reporter Jamie Little, a seasoned motor sports reporter covering the pit road for Fox NASCAR, as well as an animal rescue ambassador who served as a reporter at the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Show.
The series will air this winter on A&E and is produced by MGM's Big Fish Entertainment, which also makes Live PD. Executive producers for Big Fish Entertainment are Dan Cesareo, Lucilla D'Agostino, Jordana Starr and Holly Wofford. Executive producers for A&E Network are Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro, Sean Gottlieb and Brad Holcman , while A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for the show and format. .

Now we check teh syndicated scoreboard.

udge Judy lit up the Nielsen chart with a 13% leap from the prior frame to a five-week high 6.3 live plus same day national rating and easily overwhelmed all of syndication despite being partially in repeats in the generally buoyant session ending July 14.
In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA mean not applicable.

Ciara is following in the footsteps of her NFL star/former "Kid's Choice Sports Awards" host husband Russell Wilson by joining the Nickelodeon family.
The Grammy winner will be a judge and serve as executive producer, alongside Republic Records, on "America's Most Musical Family," a new musical competition series, the network announced on Thursday.
Ciara will be joined on the judges' panel by David Dobrik and Debbie Gibson, with Nick Lachey to host.
The competition show, which was first announced in February, sees 30 families compete for a recording contract with Republic Records and a $250,000 cash prize.
The 12-episode series begins production this week in Los Angeles and is scheduled to premiere later this fall.
"We are thrilled to welcome Nick Lachey and our incredibly talented judges — Ciara, David Dobrik and Debbie Gibson — to Nickelodeon … Ultimately, this competition for all ages is about celebrating exceptionally talented families. We're in for a spectacular show," Rob Bagshaw, executive vice president of Unscripted Content, said in a statement Thursday.

Fast & Furious 9. Mad Max: Fury Road. The Italian Job. Charlize Theron is no stranger to thrilling audiences with an adrenaline rush of car-focused features. Well, now the Academy Award winner is bringing her real-life need for speed to Netflix's new reality competition series Hyperdrive.
Theron is an executive producer on the streaming series, which launches Aug. 21 and is described by Netflix thusly: "Elite street racers from around the world test their limits in supercharged custom cars on the biggest, baddest automotive obstacle course ever built."

She produces alongside Whalerock Industries executive producer Chris Cowan ("Battlebots").

ITV has reportedly handed Joel Dommett his biggest presenting role to date - by hiring him for The Masked Singer UK.
In May, the broadcaster confirmed it is launching a British adaptation of the global entertainment hit. It sees 12 celebrity contestants sing to the nation in disguise as unique characters, which they must maintain throughout the series. A public vote decides which characters leave the competition. The judging panel then tries to unmask them and reveal their true identities.
The Masked Singer originated in South Korea and was a breakout success in the United States, attracting 14million viewers.
But while you might assume a huge name would host a show with such ratings potential, it seems ITV has other ideas for the UK version.
According to The Sun, bosses are giving comedian Joel Dommett his big break by hiring him for the lucrative job. While Joel is a telly regular, this would be his first major primetime presenting gig on a main channel..

HGTV's September 2019 premiere of A Very Brady Renovation, where the world-famous Brady Bunch house located in Los Angeles is perfectly replicated, is wildly anticipated by HGTV and Brady Bunch fans around the globe. Now, Discovery Channel and Food Network are getting in on the action with special Brady-inspired episodes of Fast N' Loud, Chopped, Worst Cooks in America, The Kitchen and The Pioneer Woman. Various cast members from The Brady Bunch, Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy), will appear in Brady-themed episodes to support the HGTV series and build on the fever-pitch excitement around all things Brady. Discovery Channel and Food Network will premiere their themed episodes in August or September.
They also will cross promote to A Very Brady Renovation on-air beginning in August, as will other networks in the Discovery, Inc. portfolio.
"From the start, we knew that the Brady Bunch house - and The Brady Bunch series - are pop culture phenomena that transcend time, yet evoke a nostalgic feeling about family and home that is completely relevant today," said Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brand officer, Discovery Inc. "We imagined many ways to bring the Brady Bunch lifestyle to life under the Discovery umbrella - from replicating the television house and souping up the family station wagon to inviting cast members to serve as guest judges for '70s-themed food competitions or reminisce about their early years together as TV icons. We've been able to do all of that on HGTV, Food Network and Discovery Channel as only the Discovery family of networks can."

And that's the end of the speed round.
