And now.....gone.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is out of lifelines, it seems. The syndicated quiz show has been cancelled after a 20-year run that began on ABC, Variety is reporting.
The show debuted in August 1999 in ABC's primetime lineup, hosted by Regis Philbin, and quickly became a pop-culture phenomenon, rocketing to the top of the ratings (it averaged more than 28 million total viewers in its first full season) and eventually expanding to air five nights a week on the network.
But the phenomenon quickly fizzled out, and the series moved from ABC to syndication in 2002, hosted by Meredith Vieira. She was later succeeded by Cedric the Entertainer, Terry Crews and The Bachelor host Chris Harrison, who has emceed Millionaire since 2015.
"After a successful 17-year run, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will not return in national syndication for the 2019-20 season," a show spokesperson tells Variety.
Millionaire — which featured contestants answering multiple-choice trivia questions, aided by a number of "lifelines," in pursuit of a million-dollar prize — was incredibly influential in the game show genre, spawning a host of imitators that copied its cerebral tone and dramatic lighting. It also made the host's usual phrase, "Is that your final answer?" into a pop-culture touchstone.

Now on to news about everybody's favorite binge watching service.

Tan France (Queer Eye) and designer/model Alexa Chung will host Netflix's "Next In Fashion," a competition that pits designers in a battle to become the next big thing. No date has been set for the launch, but season one will have ten episodes.
"Next in Fashion" begins with eighteen designers who face challenges centering on a different trend or design style that has influenced the way the entire world dresses. Judges, including stylist Elizabeth Stewart and Instagram fashion guru Eva Chen are among judges who will evaluate their creations. More guest judges will be announced.
The winner will receive a $250,000 prize and an opportunity to debut their collection with luxury fashion retailer Net-a-Porter.
Next in Fashion is created and produced by theoldschool and is executive produced by Robin Ashbrook and Yasmin Shackleton with co-executive producer Adam Cooper.

Then there's this one.

Nailed It! season 3 launches today and to celebrate, Netflix debuted a special minisode with Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, and Lucy Davis of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on YouTube.
Since they are huge fans of the show, Kiernan, Miranda, and Lucy were tasked with turning Greendale's heartthrobs (Harvey, Nicholas, and the Dark Lord) into edible cakes. This spooky challenge is full of hilarious fails and epic creations - proving that baking can be a witch!
Hosted by Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres, this competition sees home bakers with a terrible track record take a shot at recreating edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize.
It's part competition, part hot mess. Nailed It! is produced by the Magical Elves, with Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Casey Kriley, Patrick J. Doody, Daniel Calin and Gayle Gawlowski serving as executive producers. Jo Sharon serves as co-executive producer.
Nailed It! Season 3 launches globally on Netflix Today, May 17, 2019.

For those 2 or 3 of you wanted to see what the newer Card Sharks set is like, the Perry and Eubanks version had big cards, but in 2019.....

The casino gets......big. Also, PYL. You may think it looks a lot like Whammy! but......

We won't show you because Instagram took it down but you'll see it in the promos real soon. By the way, here's how the new game goes and if you think the classic is just a weekly 30 minute game like The $100,000 Pyramid or Celebrity Family Feud, think again.

According to Joe Van Ginkel, Two rounds, each consisting of a question round (four questions - three spins for the buzz-in, one for multiple choice) and a spin round (four Whammies puts you out of the game; pass your spins to the player in the lead; hitting a Whammy on a passed spin transfers remaining spins to the earned column; player in the lead at the end of the first round goes last in the final round).  But is there a bonus round?

Well, Yep, the endgame coverts PYL into a Deal-or-No-Deal-style one-against-the-house game with all the good and bad that entails, right down to the false-reveal-into-commercial trope, and it takes up the ENTIRE SECOND HALF OF THE SHOW. That's nuts. Oh well, i guess you'll have to wait until June to find that out yourself.

The first round of auditions begin on the 16th season of the hit dance competition series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, as highly-skilled dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, breaking and more. Those who are selected to move on to the SYTYCD studio will work with world-renowned choreographers and compete each week for America's votes in a variety of styles. Contestants will be eliminated weekly until a winner is named on the season finale.
Joining Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy at the judging table for auditions are Laurieann Gibson, Lady Gaga's longtime choreographer and creative director, and SYTYCD alum Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval. The new season also features returning host Cat Deeley. See which dancers have what it takes in the all-new "Auditions #1" season premiere episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE airing Monday, June 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

'Memba This?

The series that made some parents blush and their kids beam is coming back to wreak more havoc at the dinner table. Nickelodeon has set 7 p.m. Monday, June 10, for the premiere of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? with new host John Cena.
The game show will relaunch with a week-plus of new episodes through June 19 before settling into its regular 7 p.m. Monday slot on June 24.
You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? follows the original premise of kids helping adult contestants put their knowledge to the test with questions taken directly from an elementary school curriculum. But the new format puts the rotating cast of a dozen brainy grade-schoolers in the center of the action. Grown-up contestants must revisit the classroom to answer six questions on a variety of subjects from the first through fourth grade before moving on to the final round, where they must race against the clock to answer five questions taken from the fifth grade. Each time the contestants answer questions correctly, their bank increases with a possible winning of $100,000.
Newly added elements to the show include an additional "cheat" option and new ways contestants can enlist the help of their grade-school classmates.
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader is executive produced by Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick and wrestler-actor Cena.

The Crystal Maze is returning to TV in 2019 – and Channel 4 has made a few changes.
Host Richard Ayoade is set to return for a brand new run of celebrity episodes later this year.
More importantly, the show is set to debut 'The Eastern Zone', the first new games area since the show's original run in the 1990s.
Alongside the Futuristic, Aztec and Industrial Zones, the Eastern Zone is reportedly influenced by the historic art, architecture and monuments of East Asia. Featuring a lily pond, cherry blossom trees and ornate vases, the zone is made up of five games rooms featuring eight challenging new games for celebrity contestant teams.
While the Futuristic, Aztec and Industrial Zones have bene retained, it appears that the Medieval Zone has been dropped in favor of the new Eastern Zone.
Long-time production designer James Dillon, who has designed every zone since the show's original run in the 1990s, said that it was "very exciting to be asked to design a new zone" for the iconic show. "The challenge, to create a zone referencing such an ancient and beautiful part of the world, and to bring those intense, rich colors and textures to the mix of zones that make up the Maze, has been most enjoyable," he added.

The real live online quiz truth in real live online quiz news, suckers!

HQ Trivia, the live game show app that offers players real cash prizes, is introducing a new way to give players a better chance of taking home money earlier in the game.
Starting Tuesday, players will be able to win cash prizes for answering specific questions correctly. If players manage to score a cash bonus, they can choose to drop out and keep their winnings, or continue playing for a chance at a bigger prize.
Previously, only players who answered every question correctly got a share of the prize money.
HQ has also found a replacement for the recently departed Scott Rogowsky: On Tuesday, HQ will welcome Matt Richards as its full-time host. Richards, an actor and comedian, was previously a part-time host for the show. He also served as the voiceover host of Fuse's "Trivial Takedown".
The first round of HQ Trivia Season 4 starts Tuesday night at 9 p.m., and as always, players can join in using the app on their Android or iOS smartphone.
HQ will survey players to decide on a theme for the game's questions, which will let them focus on topics they prefer.
HQ said that Richards will occasionally share hosting duties with Sharon Carpenter, a British journalist, host, and producer. Comedian Anna Roisman will host HQ Words, a separate game with similarities to "Wheel of Fortune." And actress Lauren Gambino will host HQ Sports during the new season.

And with Confetti and HQ granting you extra lives after 5 days in a row, Ripkord is testing out the waters with a daily login in which you could earn coins and partial lifelines to get out there and get into the party with the RK5 each and every week. Isn't this cool?

This came out of nowhere: Trivaa’s doing a weekly daily game.

Why? Just trying to be another victim of another HQ reject. That's why.

Finally, Cash Quiz Live is moving to 9 CDT. A Half hour early. The reason: Bigger cash prizes. It pays to pay attention.

And that sadly was the real live online quiz truth in real live online quiz news, suckers!!!!!

And now we move ahead to a Gamestop Game Break. Does this Idiotest give you something............something?

We'll give you a Google Play music interlude to ponder on it as Kristina Debarge, related to the classic R&B group DeBarge form the 1980s gives you a song in honor of the last week of school for most of you.........until August or September.

But we say hello to the answer: Safety Razor. That's because her name Sara has the first 2 letters in the product as do the other people. Wonder if my name is synonymous with Pike Place Coffee from Starbucks?

For the 2nd week in a row and because I'm lucky, Let's give a shoutout!

https://youtu.be/TDa03TDFn9A

I'm about to give a shout out to Laura Heywood from New York City. Although she's been in radio longer than Erica Campbell has, she is associated with the arts. In fact, she is associated with the great white way. For instance.....

She went to the Lightning Thief based on a YA novel of the same name.....

Ain't Too Proud, saluting the Rolling Stones, er, Temptations.......

And Be More Chill based on a book of the same name. Plus more that I would bore you to death if I had time. However, you can add one more to the list......

Yep. Being the answer to both Wink Martindale and Cookie Masterson. She's doing Reward the Fan Wednesdays at 5 CDT for the Broadway Series. How well do you know A Chorus Line, Cats, South Pacific, Kiss me Kate and Stomp! amongst other things? Also, she has this....

http://www.lauraheywoodmedia.com/

She's got people of Broadway being grilled under the lightbulb more like Barbara Walters does. Just imagine which young star you'll be knowing about. But she's on Instagram....

https://www.instagram.com/broadwaygirlnyc/

Like we told you earlier, she has a bunch of programs and other....things. She's also on twitter.....

https://twitter.com/BroadwayGirlNYC

And facebook too:

And hey BroadwaygirlNYC, if you ever come to my hometown of Memphis, there may be a Broadway play at the Orpheum theater downtown.

We like cupcakes, but the Food Network wanted a show based around it. Enter.....Cupcake Wars.

Each round takes about a third of the completed episode.
The first round lasts 45 minutes in competition and is focused around taste.[3] Contestants must create a cupcake with unusual ingredients related to a theme – for example, a date-night theme might require contestants to incorporate various aphrodisiacs, such as oystersbasildark chocolate, or champagne.
The second round lasts 75 minutes in competition and is based on both taste and presentation. Contestants must make three different types of cupcakes of their own choice with a unique presentation that relates to the theme.
The third and final round is the most challenging, with the remaining two teams having two hours to make 1,000 cupcakes. This round lasts 2 hours in competition. Each team must feature improved versions of all four cupcakes they made in the first two rounds, and then showcase them on an elaborately constructed display connected to that episode's theme. Both the cupcakes and the display must relate to the theme and the cupcakes might be new or improved. Each team receives the assistance of four baking assistants and one carpenter in completing the round. This is the only round that the judges did not taste the cupcakes at the judges table, instead the judges tasted the cupcakes at the display.[3]

There are three judges in the series, with two of them serving as permanent judges:
Nelson and Bellanger usually give the bakers technical critiques on the methods, amounts, and ingredients they use, while the guest judges' critiques are usually much more subjective, based on whether or not they liked the cupcakes.

The survivor of that gets $10,000 all cash. That's a lot of cupcakes to open a bakery up.

That's it for this week. Today's consolation prize is a response from USPS hoping when will my graduation cap will come in order to practice for a new segment.........maybe I should've tried UPS or FedEx.
