 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

FOX is announcing summer premiere dates for returning series BEAT SHAZAM, LOVE CONNECTION, MASTERCHEF and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, as well as new series GORDON RAMSAY'S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK.

This summer, Tuesdays are all about music and match-making, with the return of BEAT SHAZAM and LOVE CONNECTION on May 29. Interactive game show BEAT SHAZAM, hosted by Grammy-, Golden Globe- and Academy Award-winning actor and musician Jamie Foxx ("Ray," "Django Unchained"), kicks off the night at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT. Executive-produced by Mark Burnett ("Survivor," "The Voice"), Jeff Apploff ("Don't Forget the Lyrics!"), Barry Poznick ("Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?") and Foxx, along with Rich Riley and Lauren Zalaznick for Shazam, the series pits teams of two against the clock and each other as they attempt to identify the biggest hit songs of all time. In the end, the team with the most money banked will outlast the competition and go against Shazam, the popular song identification app, for the chance to win up to one million dollars. Additionally, actress, model and writer Corinne Foxx, daughter of Jamie Foxx, joins BEAT SHAZAM as the new deejay. Celebrity guests to appear this season include Demi Lovato, Shaquille O'Neal, Smokey Robinson and Michael Bolton, among others.

All-new episodes of LOVE CONNECTION air at 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX. Hosted by Emmy Award winner Andy Cohen ("Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen") and executive-produced by Mike Fleiss ("The Bachelor"), the one-hour series amps up the original hit dating show for today's audiences. Each hour episode features single men and/or women in search of love, as Cohen brings his personal brand of audacious fun to the series.

On Wednesday, May 30, Season Nine of MASTERCHEF debuts with a special two-hour premiere (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The following week, on June 6 (8:00-10 PM ET/PT), another two-hour episode airs. On MASTERCHEF, award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, acclaimed chef Aarón Sánchez and renowned restaurateur Joe Bastianich will put the latest group of contestants through a series of challenging elimination rounds, in order to turn one home cook into a culinary master.

Following MASTERCHEF's time period premiere on Wednesday, June 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), GORDON RAMSAY'S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK debuts (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The brand-new series will feature Ramsay driving to struggling restaurants across the country in his state-of-the-art mobile kitchen and command center, Hell On Wheels. In today's social media-driven world, everyone is an amateur food critic, and restaurants often find themselves one bad review away from shutting their doors. So, for the first time ever, Ramsay will try to bring each of these failing restaurants back from the brink of disaster - all in just 24 hours. First, he'll send in a team to record secret surveillance. Then, he'll go in undercover to see the problems first-hand. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team will transform these restaurants with spectacular renovations, fresh new menus and hope for the future. It all builds to the end of the 24 hours, when grand re-openings of these restaurants will be held for the public.

Hosted by Cat Deeley and featuring Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Vanessa Hudgens as resident judges, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE enters its 15th season on Monday, June 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Highly-skilled dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 will showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, breaking and more. Those who are selected to move on to the SYTYCD studio will work with world-renowned choreographers and compete LIVE each week for America's votes in a variety of styles. Contestants will be eliminated weekly until a winner is named on the season finale.

Searching for something, well.....

Global content company Keshet International has teamed up with independent entertainment studio Youngest Media to produce a new floor game show, The Search.
The format commissioned by Keshet12 and Keshet International will be launched at MIPTV. The studio game show transforms the globally-popular word search puzzle into a physical game wherein contestants' speed and knowledge as well as their ability to work together is put to test.
The show combines all the fun of a word search with a dynamic, interactive experience and comes in 30 minute and 60-minute versions. It's not enough for contestants to know the answer but they must also find it on the massive word search grid on the studio floor, all while the clock counts down and the board keeps shifting and changing.
Keshet International COO and President of Distribution Keren Shahar said, "The Search is a brand new take on the good old fun of the traditional globally-popular word search. It takes the popular pen and paper game and transforms it into a real-life game full of action for all the family. That, coupled with its strong visual element makes it a perfect fit for pretty much any channel. We're delighted to be working with David and Lucas and the talented team at Youngest Media and look forward to launching the show at MIPTV."
Youngest Media Co-Founder David Flynn commented, "It's been an amazing experience bringing this idea to life with the team at Keshet. Like all the best game shows, The Search is simple but instantly engaging and will appeal to all generations. We look forward to bringing this to an audience in Israel and around the world."

Here's one last story before the game break.

The nation's top bladesmiths, martial artists and knife experts slice, stab and chop their way through some of the most daunting obstacle courses ever seen in HISTORY's new nonfiction competition series "Forged in Fire: Knife or Death" premiering Tuesday, April 17 at 10PM ET/PT.
Hosted by WWE Hall Of Famer Bill Goldberg, the six episode series features fearless competitors as they race against the clock putting their blades and blade-wielding skills through a grueling gauntlet of challenges such as slicing through flying watermelons, hacking through massive ice blocks and severing various types of ropes, tubes, metals and item-filled crates.
Joining Goldberg as co-host is Special Forces veteran, martial artist and edged weapons expert Tu Lam, along with two-time "Forged in Fire" champion Travis Wuertz as the sideline blade specialist.
In this series, competitors bring their best blades, ranging from America's historical Bowie knife and a Viking Seax, to a medieval sword and a traditional Japanese Katana. Throughout history, the blade and one's ability to wield it meant the difference between life and death and in this series, competitors go back to their roots in using these various knives and swords in a way that showcases what they were initially intended for.
From competitors utilizing ancient martial arts techniques to excel through the obstacle courses, to hand-forging their blades using historical methods of craftsmanship, "Forged in Fire: Knife or Death" stresses the importance of the art of blade wielding as much as it entertains. In two different timed courses - "Knife Fight" and the "Dead Run" - each obstacle challenges competitors to test numerous facets of their blades from strength, durability and sharpness to the speed, precision and overall technique of the blade wielder. After all competitors attempt the first course, "Knife Fight," the top two performers face off in the "Dead Run," an even more rigorous final test of their sharp blades, coordination and minds. The winner of each episode will earn a cash prize and a coveted spot in the season finale where they will compete in the ultimate showdown to be crowned the first ever "Forged in Fire: Knife or Death Champion."
New episodes of HISTORY's hit competition series "Forged in Fire" airs Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT and features world-class bladesmiths competing to create history's most iconic edged weapons.
In 2017, "Forged in Fire" was HISTORY's #2 nonfiction series across key demographics averaging 1.1 million viewers Adults 25-54 and 993,000 viewers Adults 18-49 in Live+7. Additionally, the series averaged 2.0 million Total Viewers in Live+7.
"Forged in Fire: Knife or Death" is produced for HISTORY by Outpost Entertainment. Jodi Flynn, David George, Simon Thomas and Vincent Cariati serve as executive producers for Outpost Entertainment. Jim Pasquarella is the executive producer for HISTORY. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for "Forged in Fire: Knife or Death."

And now, for a Game Show Live! Exclusive!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS6VFMYGAl0

A new program was ready for the 1990-91 season. The show was called Video Power. They were looking for an energetic host to make sure he knows a lot about video games. And.....

johnny Arcade was the one. The first season saw him talk about cheats in the video games, tying in reviews and previews.....and most of the time imitating characters or doing voices. There was a cartoon thrown in, but I won't talk about it. By the time the 1st season ended, the folks down at Saban Productions thought to themselves, why not make him a game show host since he acted nicer and got weirder since the first season?

Well, he had gotten more weirder. He seemed to host about......1/4 of the program but Terry Lee Torok had the other 3/4. He did the play by play and did the last segment from here. Did he have too much sugar in his game show hosting diet before each taping? I'd say yes. But if he did play by play, it would've tanked then and there, because it would be gone by next season. But the 2nd season gameplay scoring had a weirder format and there wasn't a Mario game in sight. Just plenty of Batman copies and games AVGN reviewed before or haven't reviewed as of yet. So I suggest you binge watch the first season of Video Power on Youtube and avoid the 2nd season  AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
