Parle vous Francais, let's play the Feud!

Canal+ channel C8 in France has picked up FremantleMedia’s classic gameshow format Family Feud, which will air in an access primetime slot on Fridays from next month.
The show, which previously ran in France for 10 years as Une Famille en Or on TF1, will arrive on C8 as Family Battle on September 22.

It will air as part of daily talkshow Touche Pas a Mon Poste (TPMP), whose presenter, Cyril Hanouna, will host.

Originally a feel-good format that commented on other TV shows, TPMP found itself at the centre of controversy last season when it was accused of playing homophobic and humiliating pranks. The channel was fined €3m (US$3.6m) by regulatory body CSA after it received 47,000 complaints about the show.

C8 is appealing against the decision, but has announced TPMP will revert back to its original, less risqué format in the autumn and will now also include gameshow segments.
The channel is looking to develop its schedule in order to grow its reach. It moved into gameshows last year, enjoying success with original format Guess My Age. It also launched original primetime adventure gameshow format Cash Island a week ago.

We probably expect too much from our food shows. It’s not sufficient for a host to mug his way through the pancake palaces and greasy spoons of America — that person must be Guy Fieri, who represents the sentient id of a deep-fat fryer. A host can no longer teach viewers the perfect way to roast a chicken, they must do so while also soothing our various postmillennial neuroses. We aren’t satisfied watching the country’s best young chefs cook incredibly intricate restaurant dishes unless they do it with artificial time constraints against at least a dozen other young chefs.
That is to say, we need our food shows to be about more than food. The Great British Bake Off, which you may know as the Great British Baking Show (its title for American broadcasts on PBS), is the reigning champion of food TV that is about much more than its central, gently unfolding narrative. Look past its unending procession of custard tarts and Swiss rolls and you see that the show’s bucolic tent setting is nothing less than a “symbol of British society today.”

That quote is from Nadiya Hussain, who in addition to being a fantastic cook and the victor of the show’s sixth series — season three, Stateside — is a Muslim woman who sports fashionable hijabs and has become a star in her own right. The marrow of most GBBO assessments is that the show’s light drama functions as a sort of spiritual balm that transcends borders, most notably seen in its sensible approach to issues of diversity and representation.

It is also exceedingly popular: During the show’s previous season, which aired on BBC One, episodes garnered an average of 13.6 million viewers, and more than half the TV-viewing public throughout Britain watched its final episode live. Episodes can cause sheet-pan sales to spike by 800 percent, and one writer took an NSA-level look at social-media accounts to try to determine who would be a finalist in the upcoming season, which debuts in the U.K. this week. The Great British Bake Off, in other words, is required viewing.
So you probably heard, many times, that the show has been ruined by creator Love Productions’ cash-grab-motivated migration from (the relatively staid) BBC One to (the flashier) Channel 4. Only Paul Hollywood, one-fourth of the show’s original hosting team, made the jump to the new show. Beloved hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc are headed into game-show territory, and the even-more-beloved Mary Berry diplomatically stayed behind at BBC to tour “stately” homes and help locate Britain’s Best Cook

One Food Network chef has a challenge.

Alton Brown takes over the Chopped kitchen for this epic five-part tournament, Chopped: Alton's Challenge, premiering Tuesday, October 10th at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network. Four competitors face off each episode to create unique and delicious dishes over three rounds - appetizer, entrée, dessert - utilizing the mystery ingredients with a theme, as they must impress a rotating panel of Chopped and special guest judges, including Alton himself! Ted Allen hosts the edge-of-your-seat competition as Alton influences the mystery baskets and demonstrates the science of some of the ingredients throughout the tournament. Over the course of the tournament the chefs are put to the test with challenges that tap into the science of cooking and the physics of food, with each winner from the four preliminary heats competing in the finale airing Tuesday, November 7th, with a chance to impress Alton and the judges, and go home with a $50,000 grand prize.
Get more insight on the Chopped: Alton's Challenge tournament at FoodNetwork.com/Chopped, to find photo and video highlights, relive top moments, and hear from the winning contenders. Join in on the conversation using #Chopped.

Fuse is ready to take trivia down.

Fuse has ordered “Trivial Takedown,” a U.S. version of British pop culture gameshow “Blink” that the cable net promises will be “the fastest quiz on TV.”
The show pits two celebrity contestants against each other in a head-to-head competition to identify music and pop culture icons. The format comes from British producer and distributor Zig Zag, which did the Fuse deal and is making the U.S. version. Production is underway in L.A.

In Britain, two seasons of “Blink” have aired on free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4. Celebrities and social media influencers confirmed for Season 1 of “Trivial Takedown” include Flula Borg and Mamrie Hart, both of whom have deals with Lionsgate, Frankie Grande, GloZelle, Omarion, Brittany Furlan, Gina Brillon, and Chico Bean.

The U.S. show was ordered before Fuse inked a deal with Complex Networks that will include distributing Fuse-branded content on Complex Networks, but it will be part of that programming. TV airtime for “Trivial Takedown” is to be confirmed, but the expectation is late primetime, or late night.

On linear TV, “Trivial Takedown” will comprise 20 half-hour installments, while Complex Networks will air short-form versions and segments on its digital platforms. Fuse is also working on interactive extensions to the linear show, including a second screen game, with results displayed on an on-screen leaderboard.

The original British version of the show had a retro video-game vibe and was shot against a green screen, while the U.S. format has a dedicated set, which Fuse says help give it a millennial and social media flavor. “We’ll keep some of the look of the U.K. show and the video-game vibe, but created a set for ours; influencers are creating content out of their bedrooms on [their] phones and we wanted to capture that feel,” J-T Ladt, chief content officer for Fuse Media, told Variety.

Ladt, who joined Fuse from Red Bull TV earlier this year, says “Trivial Takedown” is indicative of his vision for attracting millennials to the cable channel. “The tone, pacing, and aesthetics of this show are right for that audience,” he said.
Fuse merged with English-language Latino-oriented channel NuvoTV in 2015. Zig Zag is the London-based indie producer behind Fox reality show “I Wanna Marry Harry.”

Now comes the squad of ladies who can act a line better than any Shakespeare play would........The Dramatic Questioners.

Now we move on to.......

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/blockbredring.wav

Buzz-GSN where we ask you guys on the GSN facebook page everything and anything.

Loretta Kruger kicks it off with.....

"I enjoy watching your channel but you are getting carried away with Family Feud,,,how about switching some of the early versions with versions of Cash Cab..its on too late and we like that show."

But Cash Cab is coming back this fall, can you believe that?   harry Hill is up and he says......

"Thank you for finally going a little forward of (The $25,000 Pyramid) into Fall 1983, but you should've aired these a long time ago, you wasted too many years and you skipped one episode from The Post/Kline Week."

That's much appreciated. Phil Peluso says......

"My sister and I love watching this channel when we are having dinner and we love it. What I don't love , is the sponsors-the drug comapnies that go on with graphic detail-how their drugs can cause Diarreah, vomiting, etc..... while I am trying to eat my dinner. How about putting on companies, like Brillo, Chiquita Banana, Chevrolet...stuff without gross stuff in it?"

I guess that's what GSN does, huh? Eric Denies says.....

"I love GSN, Family Feud is constantly on in our apartment - however whoever green lighted Snap Decision should really regret that decision. This show is absolutely terrible!! Please cancel ASAP!! There is no skill involved whatsoever, based entirely on stereotyping, and the host is awful. Ironically he seems to try to resemble Steve. Sorry for the harsh words, but I think I speak for a lot of viewers."

But it'll be on just fall to Sinclair stations also. Don't worry about it. Kris Camron goes with......

"Dear Game show network. I was just watching a episode of Divided and I must say that I was a little alarmed by a couple of comments made by one of the contestants, who just happened to be black. At the end of this episode, the guy, who just happened to be "white", had kept the group from winning money because he felt he shouldn't choose the last spot. I am offended by the "white male privilege" comment that came from one of the female "black" contestants.. If he would have said anything related to color, it would have been labeled racist. Normally, i do not comment on this stuff, but I think editing should have cut that out. With everything going on in the world today, I would hope you would be more pc. Wont be watching that show again.... — feeling concerned."

Guess it's a case of "All Lives really do Matter", don't it?

Laurie Perper gets the last one:

I" just watched the episode with David. He demanded all or nothing. He was appalling and in this time of hatred and white supremacy, to allow him on the show and then to air the show is disgusting. I liked Divided but I will never watch again."

Yep. Talk about someone who hates it.

On to a question I often ask time and time again:  Can you....Sqramble This?

Hint: In 1977, an NBA team won one in this city. Give it some thought after a Google Play music interlude because all September it's.....
