When LeBron James and Maverick Carter wanted to make The Wall, no one knew it was going to be a life changing game..........until now. NBC has ordered 20 more episodes of its edge-of-your-seat new alternative hit "The Wall," executive produced by NBA superstar LeBron James and Maverick Carter and hosted by Chris Hardwick.
"When we started 'The Wall' we wanted to create something that would get families excited and change peoples' lives. Maverick and I couldn't be more proud of the show's early success and we want to keep building on that," said James. "I want to thank NBC for their partnership, Andrew Glassman for his vision, and all the fans for their support."

"We're thrilled that viewers have become as captivated by 'The Wall' as we are," said Meredith Ahr, President, Universal Television Alternative Studio, NBC Entertainment. "We have been in pursuit of a brand new high-stakes game show for a while and are so happy to have developed it with LeBron James. Every time a player releases a green or red ball, the tension is palpable because each drop can affect the contestants life in the most extraordinary way and that makes for great television."

"A big event, family-friendly game show that can open a night is a wonderful asset joining NBC's powerhouse reality brands such as 'The Voice,' 'America's Got Talent,' 'American Ninja Warrior' and 'Little Big Shots,'" said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. "Chris Hardwick is masterful as he conducts this high-stakes rollercoaster, and the dramatic ride of the contestants ends with a thrilling decision that pays off differently every time and increases viewership significantly across the hour."

Following "Better Late Than Never," "The Wall" marks the second show to launch under the newly formed Universal Television Alternative Studio, which was announced in June.

"The Wall" is also garnering exceptional interest across the globe with top French broadcaster TF1 being the first foreign territory to commission the show and gearing up to produce 40 episodes this spring. Wallflowers rejoice!

But before we surprise you with our Oscar picks, let's talk Buzzr for a minute. On January 30th, Buzzr Bowl will honor a second edition with new episodes of Family Feud featuring the 1989 ones from the Combs version plus Alex Karras on Match Game. It'll be fun. In addition, they will air a series of people who hold...."odd Jobs." Nice. But there is a Top 10 series on Youtube to make you feel like a game show genius. Buzzr in 2017. The year of the Buzzr.

It looks like Sony TV made be in Jeopardy!....(no pun intended) with its studios. As Michael Lynton, the former head of Sony Entertainment, heads for greener pastures at Snap Inc., speculation has been bandied about what might happen to the fate of Sony's entertainment arm, especially Sony Pictures. While some have speculated CBS might be a natural buyer, perhaps the most obvious one of all isn't an old-world media conglomerate, but rather a new one -- YouTube.
The Google-owned video-sharing website and not CBS, Paramount, Fox or any other major conglomerate would make the most sense for Sony Pictures, should the Japanese-based conglomerate want to offload the unit.

Unlike the aforementioned companies, YouTube (via its parent company, Alphabet), has the balance sheet to do such a deal. At the end of the third-quarter, Alphabet had more than $83 billion in cash and cash equivalents, plenty enough to swallow a deal for Sony Pictures, which could go for as much as $20 or $30 billion, depending upon the math.
The Hollywood Reporter has mentioned CBS (as have others) as a potential buyer of Sony Pictures -- owner of the Merv Griffin, Barry-Enright, Stewart & Barris catalogues and majority owner of GSN -- it makes sense. Les Moonves has long wanted to own a movie studio and it's the only major U.S.-based media conglomerate without a significant movie studio (CBS Films is small in comparison to Warner Bros., Universal, 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney [DIS] and Paramount). Don't be surprised if Wheel and J! head to CBS TV city. As far as the ones who hold the defunct companies go.......we don't know.

Time's up. 5.....Golden rings. NBC has greenlighted the pilot 5 Gold Rings, a game show based on a U.K. format from Possessed, part of ITV Studios, and Talpa. The series will be produced by ITV Entertainment.
Played on an interactive LED floor, 5 Gold Rings takes its title from the rings given each player as they answer questions over five levels. Viewers can connect to the game via smartphone, playing along on a mini-version of the LED floor.

“5 Gold Rings taps in to so many of the reasons game shows continue to appeal to US audiences,” said David Eilenberg, President, ITV Entertainment (pictured). “With mind-bending questions, big shiny floor visuals and a ticking clock, this show offers a fantastic dose of fun, excitement and adrenaline for game show fans across the board.”

Maarten Meijs, Managing Director of Talpa Global, noted the game’s global potential. “The unique gameplay combined with impressive and unique visual questions is sure to appeal to the US audience and we’re looking forward to working with ITV Entertainment and NBC to turn 5 Gold Rings into the new hit game show.”

The game “requires pinpoint accuracy as well as critical thinking,” said Glenn Hugill, Managing Director of Possessed, “creating an amazing arena-like atmosphere that’s part big money game-show and part sports. Best of all we have discovered that, across the world, everyone loves the out-and-out fun of the play along.”
5 Gold Rings recently launched in the Netherlands on SBS6 and will air in the U.K. on ITV early this year. Co-created by Possessed and Talpa, it is the first format jointly developed by the two companies. That and a partridge in a pear tree.

Don't tell Sasha Banks this....

Susan Calman is to host a daytime quiz for BBC One, Chortle can reveal.
The Boss requires contestants to cooperate with and betray each other in knockout rounds of strategy and general knowledge.

Twenty 45-minute episodes have been ordered, and auditions are beginning for recordings at the BBC's studios at MediaCity in Salford. The comic has also postponed tour dates in Keswick, Leicester, Durham and Hove next month.

In each episode, one contestant becomes The Boss and must decide which of the other five is best suited to answer a mixture of questions, identifying each’s strengths and weaknesses.

To win the cash prize, The Boss must remain in power. At the end of every round, the other contestants can choose to challenge them in a head-to-head battle that will see one eliminated.

Dan McGolpin, the BBC’s Controller of Daytime, said: ‘It’s great news that Susan Calman is joining our line-up. She will bring her natural wit and charm to new quiz The Boss where she will put aspiring leaders through their paces and pull them up on any shortcomings.’
Calman previously hosted The Lie, a quiz on STV in 2014, and currently asks the questions on kid's show Top Class, which pits teams from UK primary schools against each other. It returns for a second series on CBBC on Wednesday.

Right now, let's question this! The category is.....

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/jfinalj.wav

Disney Movies. The clue is:

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/jfinalj.wav

This Disney Film is given credit for breathing life back into the art of Disney animated feature films after a string of critical or commercial failures produced by Disney that dated back to the early 1970s.

Think about that for one second after this Google Play music interlude from.....Nikki Phillippi. One example of her channel is this.....

And now she will tackle a hillsong classic. Take it, Nikki!

Did you figure it out? The answer, er, question was.....

"What is The Little Mermaid?"

And because I like you so much, here's Erin Robinson of Clevver singing it on her Snapchat from last year.

Now on to more businesss. Divided bowed on GSN, and was the first new show of 2017 for the network. But let's be honest. There are 3 things you should never watch Divided and here's why.

 Number 1....

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/sc-sprintding.wav

Arguments.

Arguments is what our lives go through is we get mad. Because on this show, the more they argue, the less money they'll win. So what?

Number 2....

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/sc-sprintding.wav

Mike Richards.

He wore glasses this time around in his GSN return in addition to making trips go over $10,000 and picking sugar high weirdoes on Price. Drew must be in for the paycheck.

 And Number 3.....

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/sc-sprintding.wav

It may not work unlike the Chase.

The Chase used to be a surefire hit, but GSN made a mistake for replacing it with something else. At least there's Idiotest still around.
