Me: Welcome to Game Show Live! Let's get right into it with.......
The Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.
American viewers might be surprised to learn that many of the glitziest prime-time game shows they watch every week aren't shot anywhere near Hollywood. They're not even in the United States.
But as major entertainment formats decamp to the UK, Ireland, and Canada to escape California's skyrocketing costs, an unexpected city keeps popping up in industry conversations — Budapest. And it didn't take a producer or economist to say it out loud. It took Rob Lowe.
During a recent episode of his podcast Literally!, Lowe described filming Fox's The Floor at Ardmore Studios in Bray, Ireland — and the math behind why American shows are fleeing the U.S.: "It's cheaper to bring 100 Americans to Ireland than to walk across the lot at Fox," Lowe told his guest, former Parks & Rec co-star Adam Scott.
Then Scott asked the question every line producer has been thinking for the past three years: "Do you think if we shot Parks right now it would be in Budapest?" Lowe didn't even pause: "100 percent we would be. We'd be in Budapest."
What was meant as an aside has become, unintentionally, one of the most honest assessments of the global production economy today. Because when you look at the numbers, Budapest isn't just a punchline. It's the next logical destination.

Starbucks. Try their new Eggnog latte or the new peppermint mocha Frappuccino for a limited time before Rudolph and those reindeers try to ransack the store by the time it closes. Any body know what happened 30 years ago? If you said 2 Memphis stations switch networks............
https://tpirepguide.com/qwizx/gssfx/usa/fk-buzz2.wav
You're on the right track but not it. Here's the real answer.
UPN. The network that was something Paramount wanted to do. That same year......
The WB. All it took was a frog, Warner Bros before Discovery swallowed it up and independent stations to get them. Prior to them both, independent stations only aired syndicated fare, old movies, classic Tv shows and college and pro sports before there was the rise of regional sports networks and ESPN's rise to prominence.
The WB welcomed us with Unhappily Ever After that featured a puppet, 2 Wayans Brothers after In Living Color got the boot from Fox, Steve Harvey years before Family Feud, Reba McEntire who introduced us all to Melissa Peterman before making her a 25 Words or Less mainstay, Buffy The Vampire Slayer who made us known for a musical episode we all remember, Gilmore Girls, Charmed, Smallvlle taken from the Superman franchise, Dawson's Creek who showed us the real purpose of a teen drama and 7th Heaven among others.
UPN on the other hand blessed us with bringing the WWE to network TV every week, XFL football in 2001 (of course I was a Memphis Maniax Fan), Kevin Hill.....which nobody remembers, Roswell which was the only show moved from the WB in TV history, Clueless after a few years on ABC's TGIF lineup, Tyra Banks who helped us find up & coming models in a reality competition, Moesha, Girlfriends, In The House which got picked up from NBC and lots more.
Both of them ran for 2 hours long and no more before the local news was on and by 2006......it was changed. Wonder why? It's this.
Today, it's the CW. By it's launch some shows from both networks stayed there like Supernatural, Beauty and the Geek and others, but new shows came in like Whose Line?, Penn & Teller: Fool us, Masters of illusion and a lot more. Not to mention it's your favorite sports station like college football, NASCAR and WWE NXT. But when you look back 30 years ago, you knew that 2 new networks came in and if go to the Pluto TV app, you knew it was UPN and the WB to bring the memories together.

This......isn't too good.
Guy Fieri is currently recovering from an accident that has forced the production team of his Food Network series Flavor Town Food Fight to get creative.
In a new interview, the TV personality recounted tripping on a stair, which has limited his mobility as he recovers.
"[I] slipped down a set of steps, and one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold. So, you know, it extended me out," Fieri said in an interview with Fox News Digital. "I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself the giveaway point and the doctor said he's never seen — you know, in 20 years — he hasn't seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half. Yeah, it sucked."
Fieri noted that he was rushed to the hospital so his muscles didn't "recede" and said his whole quad muscle "exploded."
The incident occurred while he was also filming his Food Network show, which forced production to get creative and "pivot."
"So, right in the middle of filming that, and we've got everybody in town and all the chefs there and 125 people on set – and everybody's ready to go – and I'm in surgery," he explained. "So, we figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it's been a run, and now I'm up here at the ranch, where it's always about hiking and outdoors, and you know, beautiful."
Fieri says his injury will keep him off his feet for about eight weeks, and he is using a wheelchair and crutches as he recovers.

Lineup Industries' "Beat My Guest", a classic gameshow format featuring five singers, five days, five homes, five of their favourite songs but only one winning singer, has been commissioned in Greece. National broadcaster Skai, and its Greek Cypriot channel partner Sigma TV, have commissioned 120 episodes, to be produced by FOSS Productions.
Ed Louwerse, co-founder of Lineup Industries, said: "'Beat my Guest' is light-hearted, but has competition at its very core which makes it utterly compelling, heart-warming entertainment featuring real people and their passions that never goes out of fashion. Alkistis Marangoudaki and the team at Skai saw the huge potential of the format and we worked together with FOSS to realise a refreshed version for its family audience."
"Beat my Guest" was originally created by Mark van Berkel and co-developed by Reservoir Prod. The family entertainment, access primetime format sees five singers performing a song based on a daily musical theme, such as pop divas, soul and R&B or summer hits with the studio bought into the comfort of their own homes. Each contestant hosts an evening giving them the opportunity to transform their living rooms into the stage and they get to choose the theme.
Alkistis Marangoudaki, Chief Content Officer at Skai said: "We are delighted to bring 'Beat My Guest' to Greek TV. It's a highly entertaining format that celebrates music, personality and the joy of meeting real people into their real homes. We feel that the energy, light-hearted fun and originality of this concept are a perfect match for Skai's audience. We are excited to collaborate with Lineup Industries and FOSS Productions to deliver a vibrant, feel-good show that will quickly become a daily favorite."

Could famous comedians be about to play some ball on ITV?
Deadline reports that ITV has put in early development a version of Dutch format Let's Play Ball, in which rival teams of comedians go head-to-head in a race to transport a gigantic ball across various terrains. Facing physical puzzles along the way, each episode of the Ninja Warrior-esque format will see the teams navigate varied landscapes. The show can be tailored to each territory by taking advantage of that territory's landmarks, so expect to see the giant ball making its way across Tower Bridge, or maybe rolling up Arthur's Seat.
Produced by Banijay-backed Last One Laughing UK makers Initial and Zeppotron, Let's Play Ball is in early development in the UK and there is no guarantee it will make it to screen. In the U.S., it was taken out to buyers last month by Banijay's Bunim/Murray.
Let's Play Ball is one of the biggest shows to come out of the formats hub of the Netherlands in recent months. That version from Talpa started out on YouTube, where it was hosted by popular YouTubers StukTV and landed more than 1.2 million views. It then broke out on Dutch broadcaster SBS6. Banijay exec James Townley recently told us the distributor is in talks with multiple buyers over international versions of Let's Play Ball.
If Let's Play Ball gets greenlit, it will be the latest in a line of recent shows in which celebrities battle it out in fun settings. ITV is also making The Box, hosted by Gary Lineker, which sees celebs packed in yellow boxes and sent to different locations, where they face physical and mental challenges. Prime Video, meanwhile, is onto its second season of the hit Last One Laughing UK, which also comes from Initial and Zeppotron.

Wisdom of the Crowd, an exciting new quiz-based entertainment show from the makers of The 1% Club, is coming to iPlayer and BBC One. Hosted by comedy superstar John Bishop, in his big return to Saturday nights on the BBC, the show will see bold contestants having to take on the collective knowledge of the crowd.
The producers, Magnum Productions, got the inspiration for the show when they heard about Francis Galton’s scientific discovery from over a century ago when he witnessed a competition to win an ox by guessing its weight. More than 800 people had entered and the scientist looked at all the guesses and what he saw blew his mind: the average guess of everyone put together was so accurate that it was even better than the best individual guess.
He called his discovery Wisdom of the Crowd and the theory transformed the worlds of politics, economics and philosophy. But now this science is about to be put to its most important use yet… in a big-money Saturday night game show on BBC One and iPlayer.
In each show individual contestants take on the might of the Crowd. Who will win the cash prize? The science says the Crowd should win and share the money between them, but will any of our contestants manage to take all the money for themselves by beating Wisdom Of The Crowd?
John Bishop says: "I'm delighted to be back on the BBC on Saturday nights to host Wisdom of the Crowd. This big new entertainment format gives an interesting take on group dynamics - not only testing what the individual contestants know, but also testing what the crowd knows (or what they think they know!) I can’t wait for audiences to see it."
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC says: “We’re delighted that John Bishop is back on the BBC; his quick wit and natural charm make him the perfect host for this fascinating new entertainment quiz show. Wisdom of the Crowd is the perfect game for viewers to play along with at home, and if you like The 1% Club, then you’re in for a treat!”
Wisdom of the Crowd will film in MediaCity, Salford. Transmission details will be announced in due course.
Wisdom of the Crowd (8 x 60) is a Magnum Productions production for iPlayer and BBC One, commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC. The Executive Producers are Andy Auerbach, Clare Barton, Dean Nabarro. The show was created by Dean Nabarro and Andy Auerbach. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Katie Taylor. The format will be distributed globally by BBC Studios.

This year, we welcomed the NBA to Amazon Prime Video, which was a loss to TNT last year and letting NBC welcome back the Association for a triumphant return. But before you even think about watching Thursday Night Football tomorrow (I prefer the Prime Vision version BTW), here are some things that need more improvement on the company. First off:
- Smart search and filtering tools. No more trying to confuse yourself with something you wished you watch. Let Amazon Prime take care of that by looking things up by show or category or genre alone. Next......
- Consistent and higher quality subtitles. They want people to translate everything to English for foreign films done in a foreign language.
- No excessive ads. Let Amazon Prime runs lesser ads like in the UK and ireland.
- Faster app performance. Yes, Faster app performance. No stalling out and buffering stuff. And finally........
- Remove and reduce product placement and pop ups. Just like any 3rd party app, they show you lower ads on your phone and ads for a break. Every game app has ad breaks to distract you from playing. I wished they would remove them so you can keep on playing your tv shows and movies.
Don't forget to email me at kellypierre8@gmail.com, coppockonsports@yahoo.com, Pierre Kelly on FB and @Johnny_Arcade on X which is formerly Twitter. Also I'm on Snapchat as MisterGSN and Instagram as MrJackbox2. We will return next Wednesday, and until we return, Play on playas.
