A false fall is in the air and Labor day is getting close but we found one who's feeling the heat and who suffered from extreme heat exhaustion around the afternoon. It's the Yay & Yawn of August.

The Yay: Rupaul's Drag Race.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is back, back, back again — for an 18th season, that is!

MTV and Paramount+ have greenlit the main series and its spinoff RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, for its 18th and 11th seasons, respectively.

The news comes on the heels of the main series receiving 10 fresh Emmy nominations, including nods for outstanding reality competition program and reality competition host for RuPaul Charles.

“We want to express our gratitude to Paramount for their unwavering support of the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise as we celebrate more seasons of spreading joy and laughter,” said Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, World of Wonder co-founders and executive producers.

Season 18 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will return to MTV, where it’s been homed since season 15. No official premiere date has been set yet.

Alongside the main shows, the accompanying backstage series Untucked has also been greenlit for new seasons tied to RuPaul’s Drag Race and All Stars.

Season 17 drew in the highest-rated premiere for the show in seven years, and saw Onya Nurve snatch the crown. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars recently wrapped its milestone 10th season, where Ginger Minj won the competition after her fourth appearance on the show.

The Yawn: Some of you may not like it but a viewer which according to what I saw on Threads asked me to no longer use his real name rather than his instagram name, thank you very much. It is......

The Press Your Luck Big Bucks Bonanza. What the viewer told me it's treating everybody like the golden buzzer on America's Got Talent. Million dollar winners so far: Nothing. But the one good Yay about it is: Customized Prizes for the board. So Jelly. Now, about Bauer radio UK changing up the Make Me A Winner format last year...............

ITV has axed a new show hosted by Doctor Who star David Tennant after fans were left scratching their heads as they struggled to understand the rules.

ITV has confirmed that the David Tennant-fronted program will not be making a comeback for a second run.

The Doctor Who legend stepped into the shoes of The Creator in the eight-episode reality competition, Genius Game, which drew its concept from a South Korean format.

The show featured participants who were selected for their intellect and emotional intelligence, as they battled it out in the ultimate test of endurance. To win, competitors had to take part in a series of groundbreaking challenges all crafted to not only examine their mental sharpness but also prompt them to employ psychological warfare to outsmart their rivals.

However, the format turned out to be "too complicated" for many viewers, leading ITV to decide against commissioning another series, reports the Express.

At the Edinburgh TV Festival, ITV boss Kevin Lygo remarked: "I think it was a good try, but the audience was complicated. But I do know people who were obsessed with it.

"You know, especially young people were obsessed with and couldn't believe we were not going to bring it back. But you know, I think in entertainment we all know how difficult it is to launch a big new show."

The show also saw ratings fall. Around 1.2million viewers had watched the opening instalment, though figures fell to 800,000 for the follow-up episode.

Sony Pictures Television raised a few eyebrows earlier this month when it unveiled a trio of streaming deals for Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune right as it was in the middle of litigation with CBS over the rights to the shows.

The studio struck deals with Peacock, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ to bring the daytime shows to streaming the day after they air, starting with the 2025/26 season.

Keith LeGoy, Chairman, Sony Pictures Television, said that the streaming rights are "completely separate" to its syndicated deals.

"This is completely separate from those. We have a long historic thing with CBS. They are the distributor for syndicated broadcast television," he said at a keynote at the Banff TV Festival. "There is a pending litigation, which I really can't talk too much about, because it's pending litigation. The documents are out there in the public domain, if people really care to read them, but that is pursuing its course and will get resolved in due course. We feel pretty good about our arguments and that we will prevail."

The move came days after three Appeal Court judges from the Second Appellate District ruled that CBS will remain the sole distributor of the rights to these shows.

LeGoy revealed that the streaming rights were not covered by any previous arrangement. He said that when it took the lead on negotiating the last syndication deal with the ABC stations, it specifically carved out the ability to do next day streaming.

"Then, we told, or asked, CBS to mirror that in all of the other syndication deals that they did, so that we could do this without surprising or upsetting any of the syndication partners, who are incredibly important to us; these shows are the number one and number two shows on television in a world where people say that broadcast is [dead], these shows still get 7/8M viewers every single day. What we wanted to do with streaming was to really give ourselves the chance to find a new and different audience. We believe that the syndication audience and the streaming audience don't cross over that much. This is going to be amplifying these shows and broadening their appeal, rather than cannibalizing any existing partnerships," he added.
