Hello and welcome to a special edition of..........
I'm at the Thornton Mall 4-movie cinema in Pacific Bay which is right inside on the left wing of the mall. What you have just witnessed is the first ever introduction to a brand new weekly web program on Youtube. Carrying over from the seeds of Super Knocked Up comes Super Geeked Up in which Jeff Burns who produced the former hosted a live weekly discussion on nerd issues of the day. This week, we are celebrating a milestone everybody is coming to. We'll get to that in a minute, but let's show some more of the best bits of Super Geeked Up.
We'll get to more memories in a minute, but first, it's...............
The Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.
Sony Pictures Television raised a few eyebrows earlier this month when it unveiled a trio of streaming deals for Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune right as it was in the middle of litigation with CBS over the rights to the shows.
The studio struck deals with Peacock, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ to bring the daytime shows to streaming the day after they air, starting with the 2025/26 season.
Keith LeGoy, Chairman, Sony Pictures Television, said that the streaming rights are "completely separate" to its syndicated deals.
"This is completely separate from those. We have a long historic thing with CBS. They are the distributor for syndicated broadcast television," he said at a keynote at the Banff TV Festival. "There is a pending litigation, which I really can't talk too much about, because it's pending litigation. The documents are out there in the public domain, if people really care to read them, but that is pursuing its course and will get resolved in due course. We feel pretty good about our arguments and that we will prevail."
The move came days after three Appeal Court judges from the Second Appellate District ruled that CBS will remain the sole distributor of the rights to these shows.
LeGoy revealed that the streaming rights were not covered by any previous arrangement. He said that when it took the lead on negotiating the last syndication deal with the ABC stations, it specifically carved out the ability to do next day streaming.
"Then, we told, or asked, CBS to mirror that in all of the other syndication deals that they did, so that we could do this without surprising or upsetting any of the syndication partners, who are incredibly important to us; these shows are the number one and number two shows on television in a world where people say that broadcast is [dead], these shows still get 7/8M viewers every single day. What we wanted to do with streaming was to really give ourselves the chance to find a new and different audience. We believe that the syndication audience and the streaming audience don't cross over that much. This is going to be amplifying these shows and broadening their appeal, rather than cannibalizing any existing partnerships," he added.

Love Island USA Aftersun is back, and it premieres on Saturday, June 7, on Peacock. The companion series to Love Island USA has a new host with Sophie Monk taking over.
Love Island USA Aftersun is a weekly talk show that features the host interviewing the dumped Islanders as they exit the villa as well as feature guests to talk about all the drama on the show.
The first season was hosted by Maura Higgins, a Love Island UK fan-favorite who entered the villa in Season 5 as a bombshell. She made it to the final and placed fourth overall. Higgins had been the social media host for Love Island USA throughout Season 5. The TV personality was also the social host for Love Island Games in 2023 and guest-hosted three episodes.
Meanwhile, Peacock is catching up with the Love Island USA Season 6 Islanders with Love Island: Beyond the Villa set to premiere on Sunday, July 13. Following the premiere, the streamer will drop new episodes every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT beginning July 17.

After more than two years of haggling, Disney has finally closed its deal with Comcast to buy out NBCUniversal's one-third stake in Hulu — and Disney is paying much less than it would have if NBCU had its druthers.
In December 2023, in an initial payment toward the Hulu buyout, Disney agreed to pay $8.61 billion to Comcast. That represented one-third of the $27.5 billion guaranteed floor value for Hulu that was set when the companies entered into their agreement in 2019.
The two sides last year entered into arbitration to determine the final price tag. Now, that number has been calculated: Pursuant to the contractual appraisal process that was completed on June 9, 2025, an additional $438.7 million is payable by Disney to NBCU to purchase NBCU's interest in Hulu, according to a Disney SEC filing Monday. The acquisition of NBCU's interest in Hulu will close on or before July 24, 2025, per the filing.
The total price Disney will have paid for Hulu is approximately $9 billion, implying a valuation of $27 billion overall for the streaming company. If the price had been determined by the bank hired by Comcast to assess the value the Hulu stake, that would have resulted in an additional $5 billion payable by Disney.
"We are pleased this is finally resolved. We have had a productive partnership with NBCUniversal, and we wish them the best of luck," Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement. "Completing the Hulu acquisition paves the way for a deeper and more seamless integration of Hulu's general entertainment content with Disney+ and, soon, with ESPN's direct-to-consumer product, providing an unrivaled value proposition for consumers."
A Comcast spokesperson said in a statement, "Hulu was a great start for us in streaming that generated nearly $10 billion in proceeds for Comcast and created an important audience for NBCUniversal's world-class content. We wish Disney well with Hulu and appreciate the cooperative way our teams managed the partnership."

Let's do some more chasing....in the NZ.
Broadcaster Paul Henry has been named as the host of The Chase New Zealand, a gig which he accepted with "no hesitation".
A special four-episode series of The Chase New Zealand will follow the original format of the popular British game show hosted by Bradley Walsh.
"What kind of crazy fool would turn down an opportunity to host the most popular game show in the world?" Henry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"People might see a slightly different side to me in The Chase, I will really be wanting my teams to win, and I can be enormously charming when I put my mind to it."
TVNZ had not confirmed which Chasers would feature on the show but previously said 16 New Zealanders would take on brains from The Chase Australia for a "substantial cash prize". There were also talks of quiz queen Anne Hegerty, known as 'The Governess' on The Chase UK, signing up for the show.
Henry started his television career as the game show host of Every Second Counts and in 2024 won bronze at the New York Festivals TV and Film Awards for best host for his work on The Traitors NZ.
Henry told Breakfast he thought he was "quite similar" to popular UK host Walsh.
"He is the biggest star but he doesn't behave like he is the biggest star. There's only one Bradley doing one franchise... and he's pretty much nailed it."
The series, commissioned by TVNZ and produced by ITV Studios Australia will be shot in Sydney and become the 22nd adaptation of The Chase format. No air date has been set for the show.
