Julie Chen Moonves will be out of Big Brother on Thursday night due to Covid, and Jerry O'Connell is stepping in.
The long-time CBS host shared in a statement on social media that she would not be hosting the eviction episode due on Thursday, September 12.
"Friday morning I woke up with a sore throat and went to see my good friend who is an ENT. That night he called to say I have Covid," Chen Moonves said in a statement shared on Instagram. "Thankfully this is only the second time for me and it's been very mild! No fever and just a sore throat."
She continued, "Unfortunately, I am still testing positive as of this morning… despite feeling good, strong, and my cough being gone, I must sit tonight's Big Brother live eviction show out."
Stepping in for hosting duties is The Talk co-host Jerry O'Connell who Chen Moonves thanks "for filling in for me."
"I hope Jerry fits in to my dress, has a ball and tells the houseguests I miss them but will be watching from home," she added.
Chen Moonves ended her statement with a little humor, saying, "See? Chenbot is human after all! Love one another and enjoy tonight's show."
O'Connell made it official flashing the script for Big Brother ahead of stepping in for Chen Moonves on the show.
"Jerry O'Connell here; I'm one of the hosts of The Talk," he said in a video shared on his Instagram. "Tonight, I'm going to be the substitute teacher for Big Brother. Julie Chen Moonves is a little under the weather, we love her."

CBS announced today the 16 trekkers who will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps as they compete on THE SUMMIT, the new strategic high altitude competition series kicking off with the sneak peek series premiere on Sunday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:30 PM, ET; 8:30-10:00 PM, PT) before moving to its regular time slot beginning Wednesday, Oct. 9 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT) following SURVIVOR on the CBS Television Network. An encore of the first episode will air Wednesday, Oct. 2 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT). The show, which is also available to stream on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs), is hosted by actor and New Zealand native Manu Bennett.
These 16 strangers - from a Trader Joe's employee and mother of two, to a 29-year-old trauma nurse, to a 33-year-old Air Force service member - are truly stepping into the unknown, as they did not know what they were signing up for and many of them have no previous climbing or camping experience. The result is a test of their character, both physical and mental, in ways they never imagined possible, as they attempt to reach the peak of a distant, towering mountain. With their backpacks containing an equal share of $1 million, the group must traverse an exhausting distance in just 14 days in order to win the cash they are carrying.
But not everyone will make it, as these strangers must work together to tackle the dangerous terrain, unforgiving Antarctic winds, heart-pounding challenges and gut-wrenching eliminations on their way to the peak.
Tracking them along this journey is the "Mountain's Keeper" who will surprise the trekkers with brutal twists and force decisions that complicate an already grueling ascent. Morals and relationships will be tested when they must decide what to do if someone falls behind, because if the group fails to reach THE SUMMIT in time, all the prize money will be lost.
The contestants competing on the first season of THE SUMMIT vary in age, background, personality and experience, contributing to the differing perspectives and strategies they each bring to their individual game, and adding to the intensity of the all-or-nothing gameplay where the group succeeds or fails as one.
The following are the 16 trekkers competing this fall*:
- Pati Arana (27; Studio City, CA; barber)
- Dennis Cho (29; Indianapolis; trauma nurse)
- Shweta Choudhury (28; Toronto; corporate strategist)
- Robert Culp (42; Bolingbrook, IL; educator)
- Dusty Fisher (28; Boise, ID; real estate agent)
- Jeannie Geyer (46; Mahopac, NY; Trader Joe's employee)
- Geoff Green (28; Sharpsburg, GA; neuroscientist)
- Punkin Jackson (33; Columbus, MS; Air Force)
- Bo Martin (52; Gun Barrel City, TX; teacher/coach)
- Rose Mattie (41; Chandler, AZ; stay-at-home mom)
- Nick Morgan (28; MAdisonville, LA; VP of sales)
- Therron Pittman (29; Van Nuys, CA; server)
- Beckylee Rawls (27; San Diegl; construction manager)
- Tony Reyes (36; Austin; media director)
- Amy Stephens (46; Edisto Island, SC; bank manager)
- Jenny Stirlen (37; Cary, NC; MMA referee)
The following are schedule changes for THE SUMMIT and BIG BROTHER: An encore of THE SUMMIT premiere episode will now air Wednesday, Oct. 2 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT), following the previously scheduled sneak peek premiere airing Sunday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:30 PM, ET/8:30-10:00 PM, PT). THE SUMMIT episode two will now air Wednesday, Oct. 9 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT). The final two episodes will now air Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Wednesday, Dec. 4 (9:30-10:30 PM, ET/PT).
The schedule for BIG BROTHER's final two weeks has also been updated. A two-hour live eviction episode will air Thursday, Oct. 3 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). On Sunday, Oct. 6, BIG BROTHER airs at 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/7:00-8:00 PM, PT (live to both coasts) following the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/5:00-7:00 PM, PT) and the two-hour BIG BROTHER finale will now air Sunday, Oct. 13 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

How did Ryan do on his first week on Wheel?
Seacrest, in. New "Wheel of Fortune" host Ryan Seacrest kicked off his tenure as the new host of the syndicated "Wheel of Fortune" with a healthy boost in the nation's major TV markets. According to early data, Monday's Season 42 premiere averaged a 4.62 household rating in the overnight markets, vs. a 2.94 rating for the Season 41 premiere in 2023.
That reps a 57% increase in households for the syndicated series' premiere across the 44 overnight markets.
More detailed, national ratings for the first full week of "Wheel of Fortune" episodes will be released next week.
"Wheel of Fortune" returned on Monday for its Season 42 with some big changes, including a new set (which, Seacrest noted, came with a lot of lights) and, of course, the biggest change of them all: A new host. That was acknowledged up top, when announcer Jim Thornton opened the show: "And now together for the first time, here are the stars of our show, Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White!"
Following Sajak's retirement, Seacrest thanked the 77-year-old host for his incredible run as a beloved part of American television.
"Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you've created countless wonderful memories for viewers," he said in a post on social media. "You've set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era. Best wishes for all your future endeavors."
In July, Seacrest gave his 7 million Instagram followers a glimpse of his new gig on his first day working on the iconic game show. "A glimpse of my first day at @wheeloffortune, and I'm still spinning with excitement!" he captioned the clip.
Seacrest will be joined by co-host and longtime letter-turner, Vanna White.

Daytime quiz Tenable is facing an uncertain future on ITV, with multiple sources telling TV Zone that the show is unlikely to return any time soon. TV Zone has approached ITV for comment.
Tenable, hosted by Warwick Davis, has aired for seven series on ITV in the 3pm weekday slot. The show has not been in production for two years, with episodes kept on the shelf recently airing on ITV. The broadcaster has given no indication that the show will return and no contestant callout has been issued by the production company.
Over the course of each game, players step up to take on a top ten question which could be anything from the most populated European capital cities, to best-selling Madonna singles or the most common phobias. For every correct answer they find within the top ten, the contestant moves up the money ladder.
Tenable is played by a team of five people – four team mates and one team captain – who know each other well; be it work colleagues, pub quiz teams, friends or families. The aim is for the team captain to get as many teammates through to the final whilst earning as much money as they can. The more players that get through to the final the more chance there is of walking away with a potential jackpot of up to £100,000.

Wheel of Fortune will be back for another series on ITV1 with Graham Norton.
The show launched at the start of 2024 with 5.7 million viewers, making it ITV's biggest entertainment show launch in two years.
With over 16 million viewers reached and 3 million streams, it's no wonder ITV has decided to recommission the iconic game show.
BAFTA award winner Graham Norton is back at the helm as contestants once again spin the giant wheel for a chance at life-changing cash prizes.
The new series will feature a nine new episodes, including a special celebrity Christmas episode.
Produced by Whisper North, part of the Sony Pictures Television-backed Whisper Group, Wheel of Fortune will continue to thrill audiences as contestants pick letters to solve puzzles in a game of both skill and luck.
Graham is excited to return, saying: "I'm thrilled we are coming back for a second series to challenge more contestants to solve more word puzzles and hopefully they come away with even more cash. It's a game of skill and luck, so you just never know which way it will go and I'm excited to see who can hold their nerve against the wheel."

Fremantle UK has announced the merger of labels Thames and Talkback into one single entertainment super-label, known as TalkbackThames.
Thames (launched in 1968) and Talkback (launched in 2000) were first merged in 2003 and operated as talkbackTHAMES. The companies were split and began operating as separate labels from 2012, in a move by then UK CEO Sarah Gaeter. In 2017 former UK CEO (Unscripted) Liam Humphreys announced plans to merge them again, but they continued to operate independently.
The super-label will bring together the best of Thames's talent formats, reality and gameshows, with Talkback's comedy entertainment franchises, creating a portfolio that includes Britain's Got Talent, Too Hot to Handle, Blankety Blank, Family Fortunes, QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Rob Beckett's Smart TV, Battle Camp, Bear Hunt and many more. The merger follows the news of the departure of Talkback Managing Director, Jonno Richards who has made the decision to step down from the role after five years as MD, and nine with the company. The new label will be headed up by current Thames Managing Director, Charlie Irwin.
