The Talking Through The Medias opening toss up story.
Talks between SAG-AFTRA and the major studios have broken down, as the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said Wednesday that the gap between the sides is "too great."
In a statement to members after midnight, the union accused the studios of engaging in "bully tactics," and said that the studios had walked away from the bargaining table after refusing to counter the union's latest offer.
The union expressed "profound disappointment" with the latest development, and urged members to show up at picket lines to express their solidarity.
The key stumbling block is a union proposal to share in streaming revenue, which the AMPTP says would cost $800 million a year. SAG-AFTRA said that figure was exaggerated by 60%, and that its proposal would cost the streaming platforms 57 cents per subscriber per year.
"We have negotiated with them in good faith, despite the fact that last week they presented an offer that was, shockingly, worth less than they proposed before the strike began," SAG-AFTRA told the membership. "These companies refuse to protect performers from being replaced by AI, they refuse to increase your wages to keep up with inflation, and they refuse to share a tiny portion of the immense revenue YOUR work generates for them."
SAG-AFTRA wants a share of streaming revenue for all union-covered shows — both made-for-streaming and films and TV shows licensed from other platforms — which would go well beyond the success-based bonus won by the Writers Guild of America.
"SAG-AFTRA's current offer included what it characterized as a viewership bonus that, by itself, would cost more than $800 million per year – which would create an untenable economic burden," the studio group said in a statement. "SAG-AFTRA presented few, if any, moves on the numerous remaining open items."
In its email, however, the union said it had made a "big, meaningful" counters and had completely transformed the revenue share proposal. SAG-AFTRA accused the studios of putting out misleading information in an effort to weaken the resolve of the membership.
"The companies are using the same failed strategy they tried to inflict on the WGA – putting out misleading information in an attempt to fool our members into abandoning our solidarity and putting pressure on our negotiators," the union said. "But, just like the writers, our members are smarter than that and will not be fooled."
SAG-AFTRA is also seeking an 11% increase in minimum rates to keep pace with inflation. The AMPTP is offering the same deal it gave the WGA and the Directors Guild of America — 5%, followed by increases of 4% and 3.5%.
The studios presented their latest offer on Wednesday. In the statement, the AMPTP said, "After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great, and conversations are no longer moving us in a productive direction."
"We hope that SAG-AFTRA will reconsider and return to productive negotiations soon," the AMPTP said.
The AMPTP also spelled out the details of its most recent offer, including increases in rates for guest stars, higher pension and health contribution caps, and agreement to most of the union's demands on self-taped auditions.
The AMPTP also said it has agreed to require consent for the use of artificial intelligence, both for principal and background actors. The union has also sought to require union sign-off on any use of AI, as well as a prohibition on AI training. SAG-AFTRA argued that the AMPTP statement was misleading on AI, and said that the studios are still demanding "'consent' on the first day of employment for use of a performer's digital replica for an entire cinematic universe (or any franchise project)."
The actors strike is now in its 90th day, and is approaching the duration of the 1980 SAG strike, which lasted 95 days.

Jeepers creepers, open up those peepers, uglies! A new horde of drag supermonsters is on the hunt, and EW has the exclusive reveal of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula season 5 cast featuring some of the wildest — and most terrifying — drag artists the reality competition series has ever seen.
Featuring 11 drag entertainers from around the world, the season 5 cast includes artists from Argentina, China, and the United Kingdom, as well as seasoned glitzy stars from the realm of American drag.
Season 5's official synopsis promises to be "the biggest and baddest yet, boasting a brand-new state-of-the-art set, an army of new talented crew members, the most diverse cast in the show's history," and the Boulets taking over as the show's directors for the first time in seven years.
"With season 5, we are beginning a new and innovative new chapter of the show, and we've retooled and updated the format in an incredibly exciting way," Dracmorda Boulet said in a press statement, while Swanthula added: "We're going back to basics with the format, and focusing on the competition element of the show, the incredible artists that we've cast and the out-of-this-world looks they create each week, and, of course, drag artists doing insanely terrifying and shocking physical challenges on TV. This is the best-looking season of the show yet, and I can't wait for fans to see these new competitors."
Since its humble 2016 debut online, The Boulet Brothers' Dragula has evolved into one of the foremost queer competitions on television, thanks to its horrific challenges (in the past, contestants have done everything from eating bugs to shoving metal rods into their skin), as well as its consistently eclectic roster of oddball contestants ranging from ex-RuPaul's Drag Race queen Jade Jolie to winners Vander Von Odd, Biqtch Puddin, Landon Cider, and Dahli.
The Boulet Brothers' Dragula season 5 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 31 on AMC+ and Shudder.

So.....this happened.
Former America's Got Talent: Extreme reality show contestant Jonathan Goodwin has filed a lawsuit claiming lax safety standards on the show led to an accident that nearly killed him and left him a paraplegic.
The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Named as defendants were Fremantle Media North America and its production arm, Syco Entertainment, Marathon Productions, and NBCUniversal, among others.
In October 2021, the TV production was at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia. Goodwin was involved in a stunt wherein he was supposed to escape while wearing a straightjacket and suspended 20-40 feet in the air between two cars. The stunt called for him to remove the jacket before the cars hit each other head-on.
Instead, Goodwin was crushed between the two cars as the stunt went wrong, causing an explosion on the set and burning Goodwin. He was rushed to the hospital and production was paused. Goodwin suffered a dislocated spinal cord, internal organ injuries, including the loss of his left kidney, fractures to his legs, ribs and shoulders, and extensive third-degree burns.

Wheel of Fortune's Vanna White is exactly where she wants to be.
After host Pat Sajak announced his departure from the beloved game show in June, speculation began to swirl about his friend and longtime co-host's return. Last month, White came to a deal with Wheel of Fortune to return through the 2025-26 season.
White, 66, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that she found it difficult to read about the negotiations online. "It was because people just have rumors," she says. "Everything is so blown out of proportion, not just with my stuff, with everybody's stuff."
But White considers herself as "a strong person," who wouldn't let the rumors get to her. "I'm not going to do anything I don't want to do or that I don't believe in," she says. "My mother taught me that at a young age and I'm sticking to my guns."
Recently White reported that she believes Maggie Sajak, who is currently serving as the game show's social media correspondent, is ready to step up and handle the puzzle board as her dad Pat Sajak prepares to retire as host after four decades.
"I think she's a good replacement if I can't be there for some reason," Vanna told E! News' Francesca Amiker during an exclusive interview about her Wheel of Fortune-inspired makeup collection with Laura Geller Beauty. "She's been around it her whole life, so I think she can fill in for me for sure."
The 66-year-old also noted that Pat's signature charm has certainly "rubbed off" on Maggie, who turned letters on the puzzle board earlier this year when Vanna was a contestant on an episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
"She's precious, she's beautiful, she's very good," Vanna raved of Maggie. "I think she learned a lot from her father because he's such a good interviewer."
The Vanna Speaks author added, "I think she's good for our show."

We're getting an update on Love Is Blind's latest couplings — and hopefully, no glitches this time.
Netflix has announced a reunion special for the current Season 5 of its hit dating show, which will premiere this Sunday, Oct. 15 at 8/7c on the streamer. However, the reunion will not be filmed and presented live, as Netflix attempted to do last season, leading to a rash of technical issues that left fans unable to view the special.
A new teaser — which you can watch below — pokes fun at the infamous snafu, with a staffer crossing out the word "live" on a sign and a title card telling us: "It's not live… but it is unmissable."
Love Is Blind: The Reunion will be hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey and "will reunite the cast for the first time since their mid-season breakups, 'I Dos,' or 'I Don'ts,'" per the official description. "They'll reflect on their relationships, break down this season's twists and turns, and unveil secrets that have unfolded since the experiment concluded."
Season 5 began with just three couples getting engaged on camera: JP and Taylor, Milton and Lydia, and Izzy and Stacy. We also got plenty of drama from Uche and Aaliyah, who seemed headed for an engagement before she learned of his prior involvement with Lydia and left the show.
The Love Is Blind season finale — which reveals which couples got married or split up — airs this Friday on Netflix.

Sixteen chefs well-versed in all things Julia Child are ready to put their expertise to the test in the new five-part tournament Chopped: Julia Child's Kitchen hosted by Ted Allen and premiering Tuesday, November 14th at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network. With passion and creativity, the chefs will face off in four preliminary heats for a spot in the finale where they will have the chance to battle it out for the ultimate gastronomes grand prize - a $25,000 Julia Child-themed trip to France. As they attempt to put an innovative and modern spin on Julia's recipes using mystery basket ingredients inspired by her classic French dishes, the competitors use not only their culinary skills, but also their knowledge of what makes Julia Child so iconic. The chefs must live up to Julia Child's legacy while being judged by a rotating panel of judges including Scott Conant, Susan Feniger, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Nilou Motamed, Michael Voltaggio and, from the Max comedy series Julia, actress and author Isabella Rossellini.
"Julia Child is a true icon and culinary hero who influenced, and continues to influence, generations of cooks," said Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery. "This tournament pays homage to a legend while delivering an exciting twist on a fan-favorite series. The action is elevated by the unique challenges and ingredients deployed in her honor."
Throughout the tournament, inspired by clips from her groundbreaking television series, the chefs mesh their own unique culinary backgrounds with those of Julia Child, all while facing some of the most challenging baskets yet. In one battle, the competitors must use fish heads and brown butter macarons to emulate Julia's Trout Meunière, and in another they must make a dessert with ramen noodles and French whisky. In the appetizer round during the premiere episode, four Julia Child fans must incorporate a blooming onion in an ode to Julia's French Onion Soup. And, in the final round, the two remaining chefs must make sweet desserts with a Bitter Frenchman cocktail. In the episode featuring Rossellini at the judges' table, stars from the Max series Julia including, Brittany Bradford, David Hyde Pierce and Fran Kranz help present the mystery basket ingredients via special messages to the competitors.

2 shows on CBS are in the fall lineup of prime time. One is a mexican game, the other a israeli import. Which one you should watch as an advantage? This is................
Ring the Bell!
https://youtu.be/ea_NEk-VF1g?si=wPhH1bA4un2o_0nH
Loertia Loca has some latin flair all thanks to Jamie Camill and former late night bandleader (who remembers the Magic Hour?) Shielia E., however the team of Raid the Cage has Damon Wayans Jr. and Jeanne Mai Jenkins. The latter of the 2 has game show experience thanks to the first season of Snoop Dogg's Joker's Wild on TBS.
Loteria Loca spices it up with a mexican tradtiion going back 400 years old but Raid the Cage has youth and experience for a favorite in Israel fopr 10 years.
And it looks like......Loteria Loca has loca challenges but only has the value of that challenge but Raid the Cage reverses that with a stunt for bigger prizes. This action is too close to call.
It seems that Loterica Loca has got a top prize of one million dollars with 4 skulls that act like whammies where 3 cuts you in half and a 4th lets you go home broke but Raid the Cage lets you keep all of the prizes for one winner and even more to keep if you break the $50,000 point in the final raid.
Loteria Loca may have all the salsa dancers but what's this.....Raid the Cage tells them the party's over with an Air raid siren red call and here's the cover.....
https://youtu.be/xsIglpzpJTQ?si=Gz0UM2rDPuHFvtun
Raid the Cage wins it in fine fashion. All because of Jeanne Mai Jenkins.

That's it for this week. Today's consolation prize is a gift card to Grover's Chicken Castle. They taste better than KFC but with no grease. I recommend Honey BBQ wings with ranch dipping sauce. They have delivery on a rain proof drone to your house and it's got a dine in area with Cricket on TVs all day. Go there now next to Family Dollar and right across from the K&B drug store.
Colbi: Game Show Live! was presented by Pacific Quay Entertainment, Local Now Productions and Jackbox Media Services which may or may not be reponsible for the litter we made up.
