It’s no secret that Josh Duhamel and his childhood friends have competed in a slew of backyard Olympics they dubbed the “Buddy Games” since the mid-90s. Duhamel treasured the concept so much that he first brought it to screens in a 2019 comedy. And now the “Transformers” actor is vowing to “tell the reality” of the games through a CBS reality show.
“One of the things that I hold most dear is my group of buddies — we stay in touch all day, every day, in some form or fashion… and we look forward to seeing each other,” Duhamel told TheWrap ahead of the show’s premiere. “What we wanted to bring to this was to give what we do to the world and bring it to the masses and formalize it in some way, and allow people around the world to watch something that they will see in these groups on TV and hopefully want to be a part of it
While Duhamel’s first “Buddy Games” venture was not unlike his previous scripted ventures, the newest iteration, which premieres Thursday at 9 p.m., plunged him into the world of unMasked Singeraholics Anony-Mousescripted as he took on hosting responsibilities for the first time in his career.
“I’d never hosted anything — I didn’t really know what to do other than I just wanted it to feel real, and I wanted to be as connected and down in the trenches with these people as much as I could,” Duhamel said, adding that he’s still “a big kid in a lot of ways.”
“I didn’t want to ask them to do anything that I wouldn’t do myself so I did dummy tests on all these games beforehand” he added.
Masked Singer-Aholics Anony-Mouse
“The Masked Singer” has officially made it to 10 seasons. On Sunday night, they celebrated in full force with a huge lead-in as the new football season kicks off. Following the start of the NFL’s 104th season, the show aired a special standalone episode with a huge unmasking.
Though this season’s competition hasn’t officially begun — we have to wait a couple more weeks for that — the episode featured performances from “Masked Singer” alums including Michelle Williams, Rumer Willis, Joey Fatone, Bow Wow and others. This time though, they didn’t have to perform in costume. Still, this is “The Masked Singer,” so there was one person under a mask on the night.
Known as Anonymouse, the singer took the stage to sing Heart’s “What About Love?” — a perfect song, considering the giant mouse’s outfit. With a studded leather jacket and combat boots, she rocked out exactly as hard as you’d expect her to because Anonymouse was revealed at the end of the night to be… Demi Lovato!
Granted, most fans picked out her voice immediately just from the preview released ahead of the episode, so it wasn’t a true shock. But the judges were stunned to see Lovato unmasked, as she marks one of the biggest performers to ever appear under one of the show’s trademark costumes.
That said, it’s worth pointing out that Lovato wasn’t technically a competitor for the season. The actual competitions and eliminations begin on Sept. 27. Lovato was simply a one-night only appearance, but she sure did completely commit to the bit. So this episode may be cool for the summer, but later this month “The Masked Singer” will be trying to convince audiences that it’s cool for the fall.

Long-running syndicated comedy talk show Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen is joining the CBS fall late-night lineup for a limited run during the strikes. The show will air nightly with two back-to-back episodes each night beginning Monday, September 18 from 12:37-1:37 AM, ET/PT following repeats of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on the CBS network and streaming on Paramount+. The Late Late Show formerly aired in the timeslot. All late-night shows have been airing repeats since the strikes began.
Comics Unleashed is a true passion for me, simply because this world can never have enough laughter,” said Byron Allen, founder/chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group. “I created this show so that the best comedians can all come together and bring nonstop laughter.”
Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen has been in first-run syndication since its premiere in September 2006 for 18 consecutive seasons and can also be seen on CBS-owned stations in 14 markets. The show is produced by Allen Media Group. Byron Allen, Carolyn Folks and Jennifer Lucas are executive producers.
AFTER the success of The Traitors, ITV2 is developing a quiz named Trivial Deceit, which has distinct echoes of the BBC One hit.
Like the show hosted by Claudia Winkleman, contestants have to deceive their way to a pot of money.
They’re asked trivia questions and, if they don’t know the answer, they have to lie.
The only way they can progress to the next question is if they convince everyone that they have answered correctly.
A TV insider said: “Treachery is now a buzzword among TV execs, thanks to The Traitors.
“They’re looking for almost any way to incorporate it into a format — and it was only a matter of time before a quiz took it on.
“Trivial Deceit is only at the pilot stage, but if it progresses it could be on screens next year.”
ITV was already looking at a similar quiz concept called The Imposter, hosted by Rob Rinder, and Danny Dyer has unveiled quiz show Cheat on Netflix.
Plus, I exclusively revealed in July that C4 was also making a cookery show involving treachery, called Cutthroat Kitchen.
But I think we’re giving too much credit to The Traitors for inspiring telly skullduggery — as anyone who’s viewed a bottom three boardroom knifing on The Apprentice will know.

Before we get out of here, we got a new song from Franki Love which I know you'll enjoy but I want to let you know that we here at Game Show Live! support independent artists through the resources of Youtube, Spotify, Tiktok and more. Our crack newsroom team picked these artists because other mainstream artists make big money doing albums for major labels like Atlantic or Warner Bros., but Game Show Live! is commited to the smaller section of the music industry. If you need a minute of your time, please buy the merch from the artist, share what you heard and attend their shows, join an email list, talk it over with your friends, whatever it is......we're here to give the good word of indie artists and their craft alike. Now on to the song done by Franki Love from her new album.
Then you know it's time for Livewire! Until next time, play on playas.
