Pierre Kelly here stuck at Mermaid Lagoon because a frozen ice storm caused most of the newsroom to not go out and play Mario Kart with actual cars or perhaps Burnout. Instead, we get to report the news fed to us until this ice storm is over in time for Friday's Livewire! if we're back in the office. For now, we're stuck in so let's start with.....

Netflix has been forced to defend the conditions on its upcoming Squid Game: The Challenge reality series following reports of freezing cold temperatures and medical issues during the Red Light, Green Light game.
In amidst UK temperatures that have dropped below freezing during the day, Netflix and producers Studio Lambert and The Garden said "while it was very cold on set – and participants were prepared for that – any claims of serious injury are untrue
"We care deeply about the health and safety of our cast and crew, and invested in all the appropriate safety procedures," added the statemen
According to The Sun, contestants felt unwell and experienced frostbite after playing the game Red Light, Green Light – in which they have to remain motionless to win for hour
All3Media-owned Gogglebox producer Studio Lambert and ITV Studios-backed The Garden are co-producing Squid Game: The Challenge, which is one of Netflix's most eye-catching non-scripted titles in production at the moment – aiming to take advantage of the colossal success of South Korea's Squid Game. A second season of the thriller is also in the offin
With 456 contestants lured from around the world and a $4.56M cash prize, the format recreates real life versions of the games played in Squid Game, albeit without the murderous endings. Other games from the series included Tug of War, Marbles and Hopscotch.

Cheat is a brand new quiz show launching on Netflix which is hosted by former EastEnders star Danny Dyer and Ellie Taylor of Ted Lasso fame. Netflix has been a little bit canny too with the show's title, branding it Ch£at with a pound sign within it! And that's because there's an awful lot of money, or wonga as Danny Dyer might say, to be won!
Cheat arrives on Netflix on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Hopefully, the cash will be flowing to the contestants from the off! The Cheat episodes will be shown in binge-worthy bunches of four...
- Ch£at episodes 1 to 4 launch on March 1.
- Ch£at episodes 5 to 8 launch on March 8.

Hollywood's unions and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers have agreed to extend their Covid protocols through April 1, with only minor changes, including the elimination of pre-employment and weekly Covid testing for some crew members. The protocols will keep in place a mandate that gives employers the limited option to require vaccinations as a condition of employment.
Deadline reported exclusively Thursday that the unions and AMPTP were in talks to extend the protocols, which had been set to expire on January 31.
Unions signing off on the new agreement include the DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Teamsters Local 399, IBEW Local 40, LiUNA! Local 724, OPCMIA Local 755 and UA Local 78.

The Masked Singer UK host Joel Dommett is set to host a "dream" new game show for ITV titled In With A Shout.
Described as a "fast paced game show" in which contestants are challenged to shout at the TV to win a fortune, In With A Shout will launch on ITV1 and ITVX soon, though an exact date is yet to be announced.
"Two families battle against each other in a thrilling game with a uniquely challenging twist," a press release for the new game show reads.
For a chance to win £20,000, contestants are tasked with answering questions hidden in a montage of moving images and must shout out the answers displayed on television screen

Anyone who is learned in the ways of the Force has a shot at becoming a contestant on Wheel of Fortune for a special Star Wars Week event.
The classic word puzzle game show is now accepting applications to appear in a round of Star Wars-themed challenges. Wheel of Fortune's official site provides a form that fans can complete and submit for a "chance to spin and win cash, Disney vacations, and restore order (to the alphabet)."
Wheel of Fortune is searching specifically for major Star Wars fans for the themed week, so this time it's okay to crave excitement and adventure. The application form requests potential contestants upload a video, and offers tips including "We're looking for Star Wars' biggest fans, let us know why that's you," and "If you have any fun Star Wars gear or attire, feel free to wear it." The instructions conclude with an assurance that no level of geekiness is too much: "Don't hold back. Show us your Star Wars fan personality.".
For further encouragement, the page displays a quote from the greatest sage of all time, Master Yoda himself: "Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose." If Star Wars Week includes any other special nods to the franchise, they've been as carefully hidden as the plans to the Death Star.

Last year, I told you what the UK meant to me, but I'm doing it again this year just because the UK had more shows than the USA and one in particular is.....
Before Trump Card took to the airwaves in the US by 1990, Bob's Full House started all this. The first round had 4 corners, then it's on to a straight line and finally it's off to fill the rest of the card all for a chance at the holiday in the bonus game. Bob Monkhouse brought his Comedy to a fast paced quizzer and 4 players were set for battle as opposed to 3 when Trump Card hit the airwaves with Jimmy Cefalo hosting. It even had a computer game based on the show. That's what the UK meant to me. What about you?
