CBS is preparing to set sail with The Real Love Boat by sharing the cold open of its new dating show aboard a Princess Cruises ship. Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell will host the veritable Love Island on the sea adventure that will bring 12 singles together for love on the Lido deck.
Like the dramatized version from the '70s, the unscripted show will feature three key crew members – Captain Paolo Arrigo, Ezra Freeman (Bartender) and Matt Mitcham (Cruise Director) — to serve in matchmaking roles. Even Ted Lange, who played the original bartender Isaac Washington on the drama, makes a special appearance. Jill Whelan, who played Capt. Stubin's daughter Vicki in the original series, will also show up.
A shoe designer, firefighter, nurse, teacher and landscape architect are among the men and women participating. Throughout the season, the singles will embark on destination dates and compete in challenges to test couples' compatibility and chemistry, while earning rewards. New singles come aboard at every port, while those who don't find a match will be left behind.
The series premieres Wednesday, Oct. 5 on the CBS and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
The Real Love Boat is produced by Eureka Productions in association with Buster Productions. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, Eden Gaha and Jay Bienstock serve as executive producers for Eureka. Besides hosting, Romijn and O'Connell perform the vocals for the iconic song featured in the series opening credits.

While Jeopardy! fans may be eager to get back into regular gameplay, ABC is gearing up for the primetime iteration of the adjacent Celebrity Jeopardy! which is set to kick off on Sunday, September 25.
In an exclusive first look at Celebrity Jeopardy! we're giving fans a sneak peek at the key art featuring Bialik who is ready to host the quiz show announced earlier this year. Unlike the syndicated version of the game show though, Celebrity Jeopardy! is delivering a full hour of entertainment with the help of some famous competitors.
Parade is reporting on additional players...
- Jalen Rose
- Ike Barinholtz
- Eddie Huang
- Matt Rogers
- Hasan Minhaj
- Phoebe Robinson
- Andy Richter
- Reggie Watts
- Ego Nwodim
- Joel Kim Booster
- John Michael Higgins
EW is reporting that the game show's host, Mayim Bialik, will welcome Simu Liu, Constance Wu, Iliza Shlesinger, Ray Romano, Aisha Tyler, Patton Oswalt, Michael Cera, B.J. Novak, and Candace Parker as scheduled guest players when the series debuts in September.
"It's the OG Jeopardy, with celebrities," Bialik says in EW's exclusive preview clip below. "Let's hope they've been reading more than screenplays."
In addition, for the first time in the show's history in the US, Celebrity Jeopardy! will include a Triple Jeopardy! Round.
Just like with Jeopardy! and Double Jeopardy!, Triple Jeopardy! contains six new categories with five clues per category. And hidden on the game board are three Daily Doubles.
Celebrity Jeopardy premieres Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, and will be available to stream on Hulu one day after the debut episode airs.

CBS won't be heading back into the Panamanian jungle. Celebrity-competition series Beyond the Edge has been canceled after one season.
The show, which premiered in March 2022 and ran through May, followed Survivor and was in a slot that previously featured Tough as Nails and The Amazing Race, but it struggled to break out.
The series featured nine celebrities who traded their worlds of luxury to live in the dangerous jungles of Panama for two weeks — testing whether they have the grit to withstand torrential downpours, scorching heat and deadly wildlife. There wasn't any judges or eliminations – instead, each celebrity had to rely on their inner fortitude, physical ability and courage and have faith in their teammates to endure in the wild.
For each day they lasted and every challenge they won with their team, the celebrities raised more money for their charities. If a player reached their breaking point, they can ring a bell to signal that they are ready to go home. At the end of the 14 days, the top two earners went head to head in one final adventure.
Celebrity contestants included country singers Lauren Alaina and Craig Morgan; former star athletes Ray Lewis, Mike Singletary and Metta World Peace; supermodel Paulina Porizkova; actress Jodie Sweetin; and reality TV veterans Colton Underwood and Eboni K. Williams. Showtime sports announcer Mauro Ranallo was the host.
The series was produced by Buster Productions in association with eOne's Renegade. David Garfinkle, Jay Renfroe, Jay Bienstock and Greg Goldman were executive producers.

Hulu is getting into the love business with a new unscripted show hosted by Taye Diggs.
Back in the Groove will follow three women in their 40s, stuck in the grind of their everyday lives, who will check into The Groove Hotel, a resort on an island of the Dominican Republic. The goal is to rediscover their youth, live joyously, and hopefully find love with men half their age.
"As the saying goes, you can't fall in love with someone else until you fall in love with yourself!" according to the Hulu announcement. "At the Groove Hotel, these three women will have the opportunity to do both! Whether they find the perfect fling, friendship, true love, or something in between, this is their chance to take charge and break through the double standards older women face every day. And they're going to have a lot of fun doing it!"
The show marks the first unscripted Hulu Original series under the Walt Disney Television Alternative Banner. There will be eight episodes.
The three women are Sparkle, a 43-year-old from Atlanta; Steph, a 41-year-old from Miami, and Brooke, a 42-year-old from Los Angeles.
The series is executive produced by showrunner Elan Gale, Bill Dixon, Sonya Wilkes, Evan Wilkes, Michael Krupat, John Luscombe, Shannon Stoeke and Diggs. Back in the Groove is produced by Walt Disney Television Alternative and Beyond Media Rights Ltd.

And we skip ahead to a Mistplay Game Break . Only blue talk and love doesn't mean we have a question about The Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon was based on a 1908 novel by whom?
Think about after we let the Genie from the Broadway version of Aladdin into the Spotify Soundstage. If you missed Wonderama yesterday, why weren't you here? Here's a highlight of that from Times Square.
And your wish is to tell us the answer which is............
Henry De vere Stacpoole. Haven't heard of the name but sometimes the pseudonym Tyler de Saix.
