Netflix is bringing the global phenomenon Squid Game to life with the biggest reality competition series ever, Squid Game: The Challenge.
With both the largest cast and lump sum cash prize in reality TV history, 456 real players will enter the game in pursuit of a life-changing reward of $4.56 million. As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions - their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them. The stakes are high, but in this game the worst fate is going home empty-handed.
Recruitment is open now at SquidGameCasting.com. For this round, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world.
"Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang's captivating story and iconic imagery. We're grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment," said Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series. "Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest ever cash prize at the end."
The 10-episode competition series is a co-production between Studio Lambert (The Circle) and The Garden (24 Hours in A&E), part of ITV Studios, and it will be filmed in the UK. Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, and Toni Ireland from Studio Lambert and John Hay, Nicola Hill, and Nicola Brown from The Garden will serve as executive producers.
The scripted drama Squid Game holds the record as Netflix's most popular series of all time, with over 1.65 billion view hours in the first 28 days after its September 2021 premiere. On June 12, 2022, Squid Game was officially renewed for season 2 as Netflix and Director Hwang confirmed they will once again team up for a whole new round.

Five culinary superstars will be sharpening their knives and donning the iconic Iron Chef jackets in Netflix's upcoming revival of the cooking competition series, Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend. Curtis Stone, Dominique Crenn, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, and Gabriela Cámara are set to defend Kitchen Stadium as the new Iron Chefs when the show premieres June 15.
Stone is no stranger to culinary competition shows, having appeared on Take Home Chef, Top Chef Masters, and Top Chef Junior. The Michelin-starred Australian chef is the creative force behind Maude in Beverly Hills, Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant in Hollywood, and Georgie in Dallas.
Crenn has shattered glass ceilings for women in cooking, becoming the first woman in the United States to receive three Michelin stars. A 2016 episode of Netflix's Chef's Table zoomed in on Crenn's distinguished career and namesake restaurant Atelier Crenn.
Samuelsson placed sixth on The Next Iron Chef in 2011 and has served as a judge on shows such as Chopped and Top Chef: Family Style. He also memorably introduced Anthony Bourdain to Ethiopian cuisine in a 2015 episode of Parts Unknown.Chefs once again battle head-to-head in the new series, premiering on Netflix on Wednesday, June 15. Tsai's take on East-West cuisine has led him to opening the restaurants Blue Ginger and Blue Dragon. His series Simply Ming is PBS's longest-running cooking show.
Last but not least, Cámara is the chef behind acclaimed Mexican restaurants Contramar, Entremar, Itacate Del Mar, and Caracol Del Mar. Her work drives sustainability efforts in the restaurant industry.
Alton Brown returns to the kitchen stadium to host with Kristen Kish. Dacascos reprises his role of The Chairman.
Based on Fuji Television Network's format, the series is reborn with a supersized approach. "It's been called the toughest culinary challenge a chef will ever experience. This is where world-class cuisine meets high-octane sports. Five new trailblazing Iron Chefs will welcome brave Challenger Chefs to the reimagined Kitchen Stadium, where they'll face off and be pushed to the limits of endurance and creativity, as they cook up extraordinary culinary creations," Netflix teases of the eight-episode series. "The competition's most successful Challenger will return to battle in a grand finale for the chance to be named the first ever 'Iron Legend.'"
Eytan Keller, Daniel Calin, and Ross Weintraub serve as executive producers for the series produced by Keller Productions, in association with 3 Ball Productions. Netflix will also be releasing Iron Chef Mexico and Iron Chef Brazil this year.

Can this seriously be real?
Today, it was announced that UK comedian Iain Stirling will continue his role as narrator of LOVE ISLAND, this time for Peacock's highly anticipated US adaptation of the global hit phenomenon. The upcoming season will mark the first time Iain lends his iconic voice to the US version of LOVE ISLAND. Peacock's new season premieres July 19th with 6 episode drops per week.
"The moment the decision was made to bring an all-new version of LOVE ISLAND to Peacock, we knew we had to get Iain on board," said Jenny Groom, EVP Entertainment Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal. Groom continued, "Iain embodies everything fans love about the show - humor, irreverence and cheeky fun. LOVE ISLAND would not be the same without him."
BAFTA-winning comedian Iain Stirling is best known as the acclaimed voice of the hit reality show Love Island (ITV2), which is currently on air in the UK with its eighth series, with a run on Hulu to follow. Following his success on Love Island, Iain appeared in series 8 of Taskmaster (C4/Dave), and took on the role of host for ITV2's comedy entertainment show, CelebAbility, which is also currently on air with its sixth series. His first stand-up special Failing Upwards recently launched on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories, while his sitcom, Buffering, a brand-new comedy written, created by and starring Iain debuted on ITV2 in 2021.
Peacock Original LOVE ISLAND, from ITV Entertainment, will be hotter than ever as Islanders couple up in new surroundings to compete in naughtier games and sexier challenges. Throughout their stay, temptations will rise and drama will ensue as Islanders are forced to decide if they want to remain with their current partners or "recouple" with someone new. Islanders will also be at the mercy of viewers at home who vote to determine who gets another shot at love and who leaves the villa heartbroken and empty-handed.
Filming on the California coast, LOVE ISLAND is an unscripted reality romance and competition series where glamorous singles go on a search for love while living together in a beautiful villa.

The US version of LOVE ISLAND is produced by ITV Entertainment, an ITV America company. David George, Adam Sher, Simon Thomas, Ben Thursby-Palmer, Andy Cadman and Mike Espinosa serve as executive producers, alongside Tom Gould, Richard Cowles, Mike Spencer, Richard Foster and Chet Fenster. The BBC have confirmed the popular quiz show will be back for 12 more 60-minute episodes later in 2022, once again hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who first presented the show last year.
He said: "I'm delighted to be doing another series, partly because it's a fun show and the response has been amazing, but mainly to avoid 'Turns out Romesh was The Weakest Link' headlines."
An all-star line-up of celebrity contestants will attempt to win up to £50,000 for charity by answering general knowledge questions before only two remain and play head-to-head to determine the winner.
Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted at the BBC, said: "Led once again by our ringmaster Romesh, viewers can expect plenty more laughs and almost certainly loads of back stabbing too as the nation's favourite quick fire quiz returns, I can't wait!"
Pete Ogden, Executive Producer BBC Studios, added: "I am so excited to make 'The Weakest Link' again out of Pacific Quay in Glasgow.
"It was wonderful to see the last series land so well with viewers and there's nothing we love more than putting celebrities under pressure and making them vote each other off. "Romesh is a treat to work with and I can't wait to unleash him on another batch of celebrities."
The new series will be once again filmed at BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow, with 'The Weakest Link' returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2022. The celebrity contestants will be confirmed in due course.

Big Time Gaming has just announced the release of a brand-new Who Wants to be a Millionaire style online slot game, featuring a new game mechanic. Millionaire Rush is a MegaClusters title that offers MegaTrail, a new mechanic that includes 12 levels of bonuses that are randomly put into play after each spin. The slot sees the game symbols split and react, which can create up to 100 symbols on the reels.
With the new MegaTrail component mixed in as well, players never know what will appear on the reels. Details of Millionaire Rush Load the game and you enter the studio of the popular television game show. The reels take center stage and include gems in bright colors along with wilds. Spin the game grid, watch as symbols form combinations, and trigger special features. Hear the classic game theme in the background that amps up as you play.
The slot includes the MegaClusters mechanic where winning icons split and react with each combination. The Big Time Gaming title starts with five rows and five columns with each win, an icon in the combination is replaced by four smaller symbols. Wins with the smaller symbols will then collapse and new icons fall into place. Reactions will continue until there are no new wins on the reels.

As it turns out, broadcast television isn't dead after all.
ABC's breakout freshman comedy Abbott Elementary leads all series nominations at the annual Television Critics Association's awards. The comedy created by and starring Quinta Brunson scored five nominations, topping AMC's Better Call Saul, Apple's Severance and Showtime's Yellowjackets — each of which earned four mentions. HBO Max's Hacks, Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, Netflix's Squid Game and HBO's Succession scored three each.
Among all platforms, HBO (12) and HBO Max (nine) combined to lead the pack with 21. Netflix came in second with 13, followed by Apple with 10.enn.
The TCA's program of the year category is dominated by first-year shows and features Abbott Elementary, Severance, Squid Game, The White Lotus and Yellowjackets competing for the coveted prize alongside Better Call Saul, Succession and Hacks.
"The 2022 TCA Awards are an exciting landmark for the organization and its members, as it will be the first time in three years that we are finally able to celebrate together in person," said Melanie McFarland, TCA president and TV critic for Salon. "It's fitting, then, that we should ring in this long-awaited occasion with one of the most competitive, talented, and star-heavy nominee rosters in recent memory. This lineup is a testament to how diverse and innovative the modern television landscape has become. We cannot wait to see who will rise above the rest when the winners are revealed at the 38th annual TCA Awards on Aug. 6."
