Academics and account managers. Ivy League graduates. Teachers. Mild-mannered Philadelphia rideshare driver Ryan Long beat them all during his 16-game winning streak on Jeopardy! with a combination of luck, strategic betting, and mastery of certain categories.
But Long's journey on the popular game show ended Monday night when he finished in third place behind National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Ahasic and actress Stephanie Garrison.
Long, 39, closed the gap with Ahasic entering Final Jeopardy, trailing by $3,400 and facing the following Greek Mythology clue: Of the Argonauts seeking the Golden Fleece, these two from the same family were from Sparta according to Homer. Long answered "Who are Agamemnon and Menelaus?", which was incorrect, leaving him with just $1. Ahasic answered correctly with "Who are Castor and Pollux," winning the game and unseating Long with a final score of $18,401.
Long ends his Jeopardy! run with the ninth-most consecutive wins in the show's history, dating back to 2003 when a five-game cap was lifted. Overall, he'll take home $300,400 before taxes — $299,400 in winnings, and $1,000 for finishing third Monday.
Long shared an emotional message on Twitter Monday evening, gushing over his time on the trivia show and looking forward to the future.
"So many feelings … I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'll probably fail. I want to thank everybody who watched and supported me. I want to thank all my fellow contestants who were, to a person, exemplary human beings," Long began his thread.
He noted in another tweet that he wanted to thank his "momma" and "everyone who put me in the position to do this."
"I owe them everything. Sometimes it seems like society put you in a box, and you are classified as a certain thing with a certain destiny, even though you may feel different person could really break out of that box," he continued.
Long is set to return for the game show's "Tournament of Champions," airing this fall, where he will battle other Season 38 players, including Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio and Mattea Roach.
He went on, "But I feel like this thing that just happened is proof that you can. Trust yourself, hold on to your dreams, you know who you really are. Take your shot, and don't let anybody tell you you can't do this or that, or you should be doing things a certain way.
"As my grandmom would've said, never let ANYBODY steal your shine. Much love to everybody. See you in the fall," he concluded his tweet..

It's a case of what went wrong for an old Nickelodeon show back to life but ending up dragged in the water. Like Clarissa, we'll explain the details in a bit.

Now a story that doesn't fit the critera of the blog but perfect enough to get it trending and get it done. This is...............
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Internet Explorer is finally headed out to pasture.
As of Wednesday, Microsoft will no longer support the once-dominant browser that legions of web surfers loved to hate — and a few still claim to adore. The 27-year-old application now joins BlackBerry phones, dial-up modems and Palm Pilots in the dustbin of tech history.
IE’s demise was not a surprise. A year ago, Microsoft said that it was putting an end to Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022, pushing users to its Edge browser, which was launched in 2015.
The company made clear then it was time to move on.
“Not only is Microsoft Edge a faster, more secure and more modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility for older, legacy websites and applications,” Sean Lyndersay, general manager of Microsoft Edge Enterprise, wrote in a May 2021 blog post.
Users marked Explorer’s passing on Twitter, with some referring to it as a “bug-ridden, insecure POS” or the “top browser for installing other browsers.” For others it was a moment for 90′s nostalgia memes, while The Wall Street Journal quoted a 22-year-old who was sad to see IE go.
Microsoft released the first version of Internet Explorer in 1995, the antediluvian era of web surfing dominated by the first widely popular browser, Netscape Navigator. Its launch signaled the beginning of the end of Navigator: Microsoft went on to tie IE and its ubiquitous Windows operating system together so tightly that many people simply used it by default instead of Navigator.

The CW has lost more Legends.
The network's reboot of Legends of the Hidden Temple has been cancelled after one season, TVLine has confirmed.
Hidden Temple over its 13-episode run averaged not quite 300,000 total viewers and just a 0.1 demo rating — and that's with Live+7 playback factored in. Out of everything The CW aired this past TV season, it only drew a larger audience than Killer Camp and March.
The Season 1 finale, now serving as the series finale, aired Jan. 16.
A nostalgia-filled reboot of Nickelodeon's 1993-95 game show, The CW's Legends of the Hidden Temple pitted four teams of two adults against one another in physical and mental challenges, until the last duo standing got a chance to run through Olmec's temple and potentially win $25,000 in the final round. Actress and comedian Cristela Alonzo (Cristela) hosted this new iteration, while OG Legends alum Dee Bradley Baker returned as the voice of Olmec.
It's been an atypically cancellation-happy year for The CW, likely due to the network's rumored upcoming sale (perhaps to the Nexstar affiliate group) and thus its uncertain future. Last month alone, The CW axed Legacies, Charmed, 4400, Naomi, Dynasty, In the Dark and Roswell, New Mexico, all of which joined the previously cancelled Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. Riverdale, meanwhile, will end with Season 7, set to premiere in 2023..

Sony Pictures Television has brought on unscripted executive and producer Michael Weinberg as senior vice president of development in its newly-formed game show production unit, Variety has learned exclusively.
In the new role, Weinberg will develop game shows across all platforms and will identify new growth opportunities for the game shows division, which is focused on expanding the company's footprint in the category. Sony Pictures Television is behind mega-powerhouses "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!"
An Emmy-winning producer, Weinberg's extensive list of game show credits includes "Press Your Luck," "1 Versus 100," "To Tell the Truth" and "Don't Forget the Lyrics."
Sony Pictures Television president Jeff Frost is leaving the indie studio. The exec, who had been with Sony since joining from ABC Studios in 2008, had led the studio since he and Jason Clodfelter and Chris Parnell were promoted to co-presidents in 2017 following the departures of Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg to Apple.
Earlier this year, Sony made a major push into unscripted content expansion with the $350 million acquisition of Industrial Media. At that time, the company also announced that longtime Sony exec Suzanne Prete would oversee production in a newly-formed game show division. Weinberg will report to Prete, executive vice president of game shows.

Now, I need your help here. What fills in the mini puzzle?

Here she is on the Wonderama Stage in Times Square doing a cut called "As We Walked Away." you will like it.
Oh yeah, America says. The show that brought GSN back to its prominence in cable TV history. Looks like Elia games, the company behind it was a huge fan of the show and thought to themselves, why not copy and paste it but with different questions? The result was............um..............................something. So next time if you watch a Game Show Network original based on something like Get a Clue being copied off Hot Streak and Pyramid and think it's in the app, then figure out that it's all a ripoff of something to avoid copyright issues and the fact of the matter is, will there ever be an app based on the Buzzr show Whew! before it's too late?
That's it for this week, today's consolation prize is an Everbelt.
