Colin Murray is reportedly set to step in as temporary Countdown host for the rest of the year – and has already started filming new episodes.
The Northern Irish presenter is said to be taking on the role temporarily after it was revealed last week that Anne Robinson was stepping down after less than a year in the role.
It's not the first time he's sat in the presenter's chair: he previously guest-hosted several episodes last year while Nick Hewer was shielding from COVID-19 – and proved very popular among fans of the long-running daytime game show.
According to The Mirror, he's not currently being considered as a permanent replacement – but that could change if the temporary stint goes well.
Countdown host Anne Robinson has announced she will be taking a step back from the show to spend time with her family.
The TV host joined the quiz show last year, becoming its sixth host and the first woman to don the title. She took over from The Apprentice's Nick Hewer. And despite having stayed only one year, the presenter has already filmed 265 episodes – a number higher than she intended, it appears.
In a statement, Robinson disclosed that while she had "a blast" hosting, she had stayed on Countdown "longer" than she had "signed up for".
"Now it is time for an older woman to take the reins," she added.
Her biggest hope, as a 77-year-old presenter, was that she had proven that age does not play a role when it comes to doing a good job.
"I hope too I've encouraged TV bosses to realise that not all women at the wrong end of their 70s are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks," she said.
"In fact the genius of Countdown is that it's a brilliant way to keep the brain exercised. I run 5k most days of the week. And I can now do an anagram at twice the speed I could this time last year."
Robinson is set to continue to appear in shows until summertime, but will be retiring afterwards as it is time for her to enjoy some family time back in America. "I have grandchildren, a large garden and a home in New York, all deserving more of my attention," she said.

Netflix's hot game show Floor Is Lava is returning for a second season next month – with some familiar faces. AEW wrestlers Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor and Kris Statlander are set to appear in the new series, even though they're not featured in the trailer.
The stakes promise to be "hotter than ever" in Season 2 of Floor Is Lava, Netflix's competition series that marries Wipeout with… well, bubbling hot, skin-melting lava (or a gooey, relatively harmless facsimile thereof).
Netflix has released a first trailer for Floor Is Lava's sophomore run (linked below), and it teases "bigger obstacles, higher stakes, and even hotter lava" — as well as the brand-new element of a slippery AF volcano that players must ascend (or not, as the trailer suggests happens more often).
Floor Is Lava debuted in June of the year 2020, became a bit of a pop culture sensation/guilty pleasure, and was renewed in April 2021. The series will release its second batch of five new 30-minute episodes on Friday, June 3.

Surf's up, Dude.
From fresh west coast fish tacos to buttery east coast lobster rolls, beach bites coast to coast are undeniably delicious. On Sunday, June 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Antonia Lofaso challenges the foremost cooks from both coasts in the ultimate battle to determine which coast does summer food best on Beachside Brawl on Food Network and discovery+.
Acclaimed East Coast chef Tiffani Faison and elite West Coast chef Brooke Williamson lead teams of four cooks in this beachside showdown. Both captains will mentor and cook alongside their teams throughout the competition with one goal - prove that their coast does it best. One team member will be crowned Best of the Beach and win a dream beach getaway worth up to $25,000.
"Antonia Lofaso's culinary expertise and ties to both coasts, makes her the ideal host to preside over this coast vs. coast battle for the best beach eats," said Jane Latman, President, Home & Food Content and Streaming, Warner Bros. Discovery.
"With my strong connection to both coasts - being born on the east and growing up on the west - I'm so thrilled to oversee this competition as my two talented friends, Tiffani Faison and Brooke Williamson brawl on the beach to prove their coast is best," said Antonia Lofaso. "Audiences will love cheering for their favorite beach foods and rooting for their coast."
Tiffani Faison will lead the team of talented East Coast chefs, including Jared Brown (Long Branch, NJ), Edward Lordman (Pensacola, FL), Ben Porter (Cape Cod, MA), and Jada Vidal (Tampa Bay, FL). Brooke Williamson will guide the accomplished chefs of the West Coast, including Kaleena Bliss (Seattle, WA), Brian Madayag (Edmonds, WA), Joshua Mazoukes (San Diego, CA), and Jessica Roy (Newport Beach, CA).

Now we move on to a Mistplay Game Break. Idiotest time! Let's go!
See what the answer is after we invite Mumford & Sons into the Spotify Soundstage to remember the Class of 2012.
So did you figure out what it was? The 3rd person that says "you're in trouble." Which means urine trouble. I must go to the potty, so in the meantime, check out a dance break from Sunrise & Haley J.

Duets are like tag teams in wrestling. But in 2012..........
ABC decided to do one. 9 singers paired up with 4 singers to pony up. Among them, Future coach of The Voice and talk show host Kelly Clarkson, Another future coach of The Voice and Mrs. Chrissy Teigen himself, John Legend, Future judge of the Go Big Show on TBS, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland fame and Future Masked Singer panelist Robin Thicke. Guess this show was a training ground for being a judge on future reality shows. The bottom 2 had to go solo for saving themselves for staying around and only one had to go. Later in the season, American Idol at the time was live, so ABC decided to do it. J Rome ended up being the winner of the whole thing. It had much later success in China running from 2013-15. Guess a one season wonder from 2012 can have much more success overseas.
