Who Watched the Courtship? Perhaps about 7 people, but good news for the peacock network.
Nicole Rémy will no longer be looking for love on NBC. After airing just two episodes, NBC is moving The Courtship to USA Network, starting with the upcoming third episode.
The Jane Austen-inspired dating show will now air on Wednesdays right after Temptation Island. The Courtship Episode 3 will debut on Wednesday, March 23, on USA instead of Sunday, March 20 on NBC. The Courtship series premiere will air on USA on Wednesday, March 16 at 11 pm ET following the season premiere of Temptation Island Season 4. Episodes 2 and 3 will air back-to-back on March 23. Episode 4 will debut on March 30 and weekly thereafter at 11 pm ET on Wednesdays. The move comes after The Courtship struggled to bring in viewers for the first and second episodes. Episodes will remain available for next-day streaming on Peacock.
Vulnerability and Mr. Darcy-like grand gestures were the name of the game in 'Acts of Chivalry.' NBC described The Courtship as the “ultimate social experiment in romance” where a heroine would look for her duke, much like Bridgerton. Think The Bachelorette, but in Regency-era England.
“Transported to a Regency-style England, a group of eligible hopeful suitors will have to win the heart of our heroine, and her court,” the series description says. “Housed in a castle on the countryside, set on a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, the heroine and suitors will experience that with which dreams are made. From carriage rides and boat rides on the lake to archery and handwritten letters to communicate, they will be immersed in a time-traveling quest for love. In the end, our heroine and her suitors will discover if the ultimate romantic experience will find them true love.”
The reality dating show was originally ordered by Peacock, but it was moved to NBC shortly before the series debut. It was originally titled Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance.
An episode of The Weakest Link will take The Courtship‘s time slot on Sunday, March 20 at 8 pm ET, followed by an Adele concert special.

CBS announced today PICKLED, a new comedic, celebrity-packed pickleball tournament from Stephen Colbert's Spartina, Funny Or Die and CBS Studios, to air later this year as a two-hour special event on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.
As the New York Times states, "pickleball is ready for primetime." The buzziest new sport in a generation is a classic American cocktail - mix one part tennis, a splash of badminton, muddle in some ping pong, toss a couple of ibuprofens in there just in case, and add a heaping scoop of passion. Shake vigorously, then pour yourself a tall glass of FUN. In the special, PICKLED will curate the best all-star competitive teams to play against each other in the name of charity, and ultimately vie for the coveted totem of excellence: the Golden Gherkin. Additional details about the special and celebrity competitors will be announced at a later date.
"I love hosting THE LATE SHOW, but at the end of the day - and I'm specifically talking about the hours between 8 and 10 PM Eastern - I see PICKLED as a chance to bring lots of different people together for something playful and unpredictable," said Colbert. "And since the supply chain snarl has delayed delivery of my Margaritaville(TM) Frozen Drink Machine, I find myself with some free time. I'm honored to be a part of the PICKLED family."
"Funny Or Die is thrilled to partner with our friends at Spartina and CBS Studios on PICKLED," said Mike Farah, CEO of Funny Or Die. "We can't wait to bring together celebrities from the worlds of comedy, sports and beyond, to play in the highest-stakes and lowest-impact pickleball tournament ever created for television. This idea was inspired by playing pickleball with my mom back in Michigan, and she has LOTS of ideas for this show. Is this an appropriate forum to let Stephen know my mom wants to be showrunner?"
PICKLED is produced by Funny Or Die in association with Spartina and CBS Studios. Executive producers are Funny Or Die's Mike Farah, Joe Farrell and Henry R. Muñoz III and Spartina's Stephen Colbert, Carrie Byalick, Evelyn McGee Colbert and Tom Purcell. .

Following the success of LOL: Last One Laughing Canada, Prime Video today announced that stand-up comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer Patrick Huard (Bon Cop Bad Cop, Starbuck) will be the host of Canadian Amazon Original series LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier?, the Quebec version of the global hit comedy format. Produced by Attraction, it will be shot in Montreal and feature a cast of popular French-speaking comedic actors and stand-ups competing to make each other laugh first. LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? will be available exclusively on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide.
"I am so excited to be hosting LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? - I know that many people fantasize about seeing what happens when 10 comedians are trapped together in the same room. It's happened to me many times and things usually spiral quite quickly!" said Patrick Huard. "You know that comedians revel in making people laugh, but what you probably don't know is that they are often big fans of other comedians and it's torture for them not to laugh. I am also very happy to be hosting, because I would have no chance of lasting even 10 minutes! Especially with this group of comedians who accepted the challenge. It's sure to be madness!"
The Amazon Original series will use dozens of cameras to catch all of the hilarious action during the unpredictable six-hour competition, and follow a select group of established comedy stars and up-and-coming talent who bring various styles to the table, including stand-up, character, improvisational, and physical comedy.
"Quebec has a reputation as a leader in comedy, with the world's largest international comedy festival and comedians playing in front of sold-out crowds across the province," said James Farrell, head of local Originals, Amazon Studios. "In addition to that reputation, having a host the calibre of Patrick Huard - who is not only a celebrated actor and director but also a beloved comedian - means all the pieces are in place for another hilarious version of LOL: Last One Laughing for Quebec."
LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? is the latest adaptation of Documental, the successful Japanese Amazon Original series created by and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto and owned by Yoshimoto Kogyo, where Matsumoto leads 10 comedians in an anything-goes "battle of laughter behind closed doors." The fan-favourite format includes local versions in Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Germany, Italy, France, India, and Spain. Local celebrity hosts include Jay Baruchel, Eugenio Derbez, Fedez, Michael "Bully" Herbig, and Rebel Wilson. .

Amazon and MGM said Thursday that their $8.5 billion deal has closed. The storied, nearly century-old studio — with more than 4,000 film titles, 17,000 TV episodes, 180 Academy Awards and 100 Emmy Awards — is now part of Amazon “and will complement Prime Video and Amazon Studios’ work in delivering a diverse offering of entertainment choices to customers,” Amazon said in its announcement.
Amazon Studios and streaming service Prime Video are led by Amazon’s Mike Hopkins. No news on management structure in terms of how the two studios will fit together; an Amazon spokesperson said the digital giant is planning to make offers and welcome all of MGM’s current employees.
It’s early days yet with the deal just closed this morning, but here’s what else could be gleaned about the new entity:
- In terms of production, Amazon is excited by MGM’s slate and doesn’t anticipate changes in release dates or on projects that are in progress.
- Amazon is not planning to make all MGM content exclusive to Prime Video.
- On theatrical, Amazon intends to continue supporting theatrical release, not as a one-size-fits-all proposition but something to be determine case by case.
- There are no plans to make changes to the Bond franchise.
“MGM has a nearly century-long legacy of producing exceptional entertainment, and we share their commitment to delivering a broad slate of original films and television shows to a global audience,” said Hopkins, whose title is SVP of Prime Video and Amazon Studios. “We welcome MGM employees, creators, and talent to Prime Video and Amazon Studios, and we look forward to working together to create even more opportunities to deliver quality storytelling to our customers.”
Amazon Studios and Prime Video are part of a larger Amazon division called Global Media & Entertainment led by Jeff Blackburn that includes Music, Podcasts/Wondery, Audible, Games, Twitch and other services. Blackburn, the longtime Jeff Bezos lieutenant, returned to Amazon in 2021 to take the new position.
Chris Brearton, chief operating officer of MGM, said, “We are excited for MGM and its bounty of iconic brands, legendary films and television series, and our incredible team and creative partners to join the Prime Video family.”
“MGM has been responsible for the creation of some of the most well-known and critically acclaimed films and television series of the past century,” he added. “We look forward to continuing that tradition as we head into this next chapter, coming together with the great team at Prime Video and Amazon Studios to provide audiences with the very best in entertainment for years to come.”
This morning’s news means the U.S. Federal Trade Commission declined, as expected, to sue to block the merger or impose conditions on the historic deal, which comes just as another mega-combo of WarnerMedia and Discovery gets set to close in April. The FTC deadline passed overnight.
Earlier this week, Amazon won unconditional EU antitrust approval for the merger when the European Commission decided it wouldn’t pose competition concerns in Europe.

And now for some square dancing.
Nick Jonas is joining NBC competition series Dancing with Myself as Shaquille O’Neal exits.
The move comes as technical difficulties during rehearsals for the non-scripted show hit production, forcing producers to push things a few days. Deadline reports that there were issues with some of the elaborate stage design.
Jonas, who was a coach on NBC’s The Voice, will sit alongside actress Liza Koshy and Shakira as one of the dance creators. The series is hosted by Camille Kostek.
Rehearsals were held last week and production is expected to start over the next few days.
The series will see a group of everyday people compete each week in a number of high-energy dance challenges designed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators.
Isolated in their own pods, contestants have a short time to learn the new routines, add their unique flair and then perform their hearts out in front of a live studio audience. As each round of the competition progresses, the creators on the judging panel provide instant feedback and choose their favorites to advance, along with the audience picks. But ultimately, it’s the studio audience that decides who’s the best dancer of the night and gets to take home the cash prize.
Dancing with Myself is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio group, and Irwin Entertainment. John Irwin, Dave Kuba, and Eli Frankel executive produce for Irwin Entertainment. Tina Nicotera Bachman, Ben Thursby-Palmer, Jaime Levine, and Shakira also executive produce. The series is licensed by NBCUniversal Formats, a division of Universal Studio Group.
