Rebel Wilson’s dog-grooming competition series Pooch Perfect won’t be taking any more walks at ABC. The Disney-owned network has canceled the unscripted series after one season.
Separately, ABC has parked the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. While the game show, which is based on the long-running British format, has not been officially axed and its status is currently to be determined, there are no plans to make further episodes. The network has, reportedly, left the door open for it to return in the future, not particularly surprising given that it is hosted and exec produced by its late-night star Kimmel.
The Pooch Perfect cancelation is also not a huge surprise given that the series was one of the network’s lowest rated reality series of last year and it was not mentioned when the network made a slew of unscripted renewals last year.
The show, which is based on an Australian format, showcased ten of the best dog groomers in the country, along with their assistants, competing in a series of challenges. Each week, teams competed in two challenges: the Immunity Puppertunity challenge and the Ultimutt Challenge showdown. The teams will face off in the grooming challenges, showcasing their creations on the ‘dogwalk’. There was one elimination each week until the season finale, where the top three teams competed for a giant cash prize and the Pooch Perfect trophy. The Bridesmaids star hosted, as she did the Australian version, and was joined by Lisa Vanderpump, celebrity dog groomer Jorge Bendersky and veterinarian Dr. Callie Harris as the trio of judges.
The series was produced by Beyond Media Rights.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire aired two seasons in 2020. The reboot was produced under unusual circumstances. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, filmed the weekend of March 14 – as Covid first began to hit the U.S. – without an audience and the second season was produced in August 2020 under strict Covid protocols and a minimal crew.
Celebrity contestants, playing for charity, who appeared on the reboot included Eric Stonestreet, Will Forte, Tiffany Haddish, Kaitlin Olson, Jane Fonda and Anderson Cooper. They were handed a new “Ask the Host” lifeline given the lack of an audience. Season two also featured frontline workers and others severely affected by COVID-19.
Hosted and exec produced by Kimmel, the show is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Embassy Row, Kimmelot and Disney’s Valleycrest Productions.

Flying by the seat of our pants, it's the first Yay & Yawn of 2022.
The Yay: GSN and Buzzr. They paid tribute to Betty White the right way. Nice work you 2.
The Yawn: Legends of the Hidden Temple. Low ratings can't work in an adult remake of a kids classic. Apparantely, Cristela Alonzo was here for the paycheck.

NBC has decided to cancel Ellen's Game of Games starring host Ellen DeGeneres after four seasons. DeGeneres is also winding down her self-titled talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which comes to an end after 19 seasons.
The last new episode of Ellen's Game of Games aired in May 2021.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the ratings for Game of Games decreased this past season, most notably when it moved to Sunday nights.
"When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore," DeGeneres told THR after the news of her talk show ending broke.
"Although all good things must come to an end, you still have hope that truly great things never will," Warner Bros.' unscripted TV president Mike Darnell said regarding The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He added that the series was "an absolute phenomenon," along with presenting itself "as the premier destination for both superstars and incredible heartfelt human-interest stories."

On Wednesday, NBC announced its “America’s Got Talent” spinoff, “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” will finally premiere four months after the near-fatal stunt accident that left performer Jonathan Goodwin with multiple broken bones in both legs, as well as cuts and burns.
In the stunt, Goodwin, attempted to escape from a straitjacket while hoisted 70 feet in the air and suspended between two swaying cars. After freeing himself from the straitjacket, he became wedged in between the two cars. The impact caused the cars to explode, and when Goodwin finally landed, he hit his head.
Producers have not yet decided how they’re going to address the on-set accident, a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
The accident was part of the a rehearsal, so it was never filmed for the show. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, the person said.
Contestants on the show will vie for a $500,000 prize and the ultimate title, the champion of “America’s Got Talent: Extreme.” Creator and executive producer Simon Cowell will judge alongside WWE superstar Nikki Bella and motocross and rally car driver Travis Pastrana and “America’s Got Talent” host Terry Crews. Simon Cowell, Sam Donnelly, Jason Raff and Richard Wallace are the executive producers.
“America’s Got Talent: Extreme” is co-produced by Fremantle and Syco Entertainment. “AGT: Extreme” will premiere Monday, Feb. 21 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT).
TheWrap also reports that the premiere of “American Song Contest,” has been bumped back a month to Monday, Mar. 21 as it’s a live audience show and there are concerns about COVID.

Fox has filled the gap left on Tuesdays at 9/8c with Monarch‘s delay to fall 2022, and it’s bringing celebrities onto the dance floor to do so.
The network has announced that it is celebrating one of the most iconic movies of all time with its new celebrity dance competition, The Real Dirty Dancing, hosted by So You Think You Can Dance contestant and judge Stephen “tWitch” Boss. The special event series will air Tuesdays at 9/8c on February 1, 8, 15, and 22.
The Real Dirty Dancing features celebrities reliving the classic film’s most memorable dance moments in hopes of becoming champions and the next “Baby” and “Johnny.” The eight celebrities competing are: entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, and WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Brie Bella; actor, singer/songwriter, and dancer Corbin Bleu; The Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron; world-renowned chef, author, restaurateur, and the first female Iron Chef Cat Cora; Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough; future NFL Hall of Fame Tight End Antonio Gates; comedian, singer, actor, and social media sensation Anjelah Johnson-Reyes; and comedian and The Real host Loni Love.
The dance competition sees the celebrities fully immerse themselves in the ultimate Dirty Dancing experience. At the real location used for the film’s fictional Kellerman’s Lodge, Virginia’s Mountain Lake Lodge, they’ll partner up and learn the iconic dance routines of Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze’s movie — including the legendary lift. Special guest judges will decide if the couples continue on and which will be “put in a corner.”
The Real Dirty Dancing is produced by Eureka Productions and Lionsgate Television. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, and Dave Emery serve as executive producers, with Dan Martin serving as both executive producer and showrunner.

Stephen and Ayesha Curry's new game show, which will pit celebrity couples against each other, is officially coming soon. About Last Night will debut eight episodes on HBO Max on Feb. 10.
The show will feature pairs of celebrity couples competing against each other in challenges and trivia.
The show is executive produced by Stephen and Ayesha. The couple will also serve as co-hosts, tasked with quizzing each episode's three celebrity couples, which will include Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott, Terry Crews and Rebecca King-Crews, and Tituss Burgess and Pablo Salinas.
During the game, the couples will need to match their answers to "uncensored" questions about their personalities and tastes. A bonus round will have the couples take on the Currys for an additional donation to a charity of their choice.
"We'd actually always wanted to do something together and wanted something around the premise of a date night," Ayesha tells PEOPLE. "We don't get to do a lot of them, but we love going on them. And so we said, 'Hey, this is a great excuse to get some work done and also have some date nights.' It's really that simple."
Adds Stephen, "We tried to make it something we'd do normally anyway. I feel like that's how you spend your time, hanging out with some cool couples, like we have on the show. And game nights or any type of couple competition or something that brings personality and fun out of it, that was the exciting part about what it could be."

The popular award-winning quiz show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has received a new spin-off format titled Fastest Finger First, which will be presented by Countryfile lead presenter Anita Rani.
Fastest Finger First originated from the idea that an astounding amount of people apply to be on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? each year in hopes of bagging the million-pound prize. Unlike before, this new format helps guarantee the contestants a place in the Millionaire hot seat opposite show host Jeremy Clarkson. Currently, there have been 6 lucky players to walk away with the jackpot prize.
The show expands on the first round of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire where contestants have to put their answers to a multiple-choice question in a certain order. The game works that 5 contestants play against each other to take it in turns to work their way up the question ladder. At the end of the round, the two players with the highest score will go head-to-head in a Fastest Finger First duel. By the end of each episode, whoever is in the seat when the klaxon sounds will win a fast-tracked place to compete on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, skipping the usual Fastest Fingers First round that opens the show.
Presenter Anita Rani said of the show: “I’ve always loved Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and was thrilled to be invited to host this spin-off. I’m a huge fan of quiz shows, and there is no doubt that Jeremy is a formidable host. I’m just relieved that in Fastest Finger First, there isn’t a round for contestants to ask for my answers to the questions!”
