IATSE and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have agreed to return to the bargaining table on Tuesday following the union’s historic strike-authorization vote. It will be the first time in more than two months that the two sides have engaged in collective bargaining.
“I hope that the studios will see and understand the resolve of our members,” IATSE president Matthew Loeb said today after 98% of the union’s voting members authorized him to call a strike if the upcoming talks fail to produce a fair film and TV contract. “The ball is in their court. If they want to avoid a strike, they will return to the bargaining table and make us a reasonable offer.”
Following the vote, the AMPTP said that it “remains committed to reaching an agreement that will keep the industry working. We deeply value our IATSE crew members and are committed to working with them to avoid shutting down the industry at such a pivotal time, particularly since the industry is still recovering from the economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic. A deal can be made at the bargaining table, but it will require both parties working together in good faith with a willingness to compromise and to explore new solutions to resolve the open issues.”
Loeb said today: “The members have spoken loud and clear. This vote is about the quality of life as well as the health and safety of those who work in the film and television industry. Our people have basic human needs like time for meal breaks, adequate sleep, and a weekend. For those at the bottom of the pay scale, they deserve nothing less than a living wage.”
The DGA’s national board of directors, meanwhile, issued a statement saying that it “stands in solidarity with our IATSE brothers, sisters and kin. The quality of life and living wage issues they are fighting for are important to all workers on set. We urge the producers and studios of the AMPTP to return to the bargaining table and make a fair deal addressing these critical issues.”
Signers of the DGA statement include some of the biggest directing names in Hollywood. Newly elected DGA officers who signed include president Lesli Linka Glatter; national vice president Mary Rae Thewlis; secretary-treasurer Paris Barclay; first vice president Betty Thomas; second vp Ron Howard; third vp Barry Jenkins; fourth vp Seith Mann; fifth vp Ava DuVernay; sixth vp Lily Olszewski; assistant secretary-treasurer Joyce Thomas, and board members Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Jon Avnet, Norberto Barba, Karen Gaviola, Julie Gelfand, Duncan Henderson, Todd Holland, Nicole Kassell, Kathleen McGill and Millicent Shelton.

Here's some DWTS for you.
Cheryl Burke will be absent from the Dancing With the Stars ballroom for at least 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19 ahead of Monday’s live broadcast.
The pro dancer — who is fully vaccinated against the virus — broke the news to fans in an Instagram video posted on Sunday night, in which she revealed she’d been feeling rundown and decided to get tested as a precaution.
“OK, guys, so I have really bad news. I am positive, which means I have COVID,” Burke shared in the emotional video. “I’ve been feeling progressively worse. The PCR test came back, and it came back positive, and I just feel so bad. I feel so bad for Cody, I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s—t, to be quite honest.
“It’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday, and the show is tomorrow,” she continued. “I just hope I didn’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s f—king real, dude.”
Burke has been instructed to quarantine at home for 10 days following her positive test.
The Voice kept its grip on Monday primetime steady, leading the way as the highest-rated program for the second consecutive week. The Voice earned a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.66 million viewers, per fast affiliates. Tying for second were Dancing With the Stars on ABC (0.8, 5.16M) and 9-1-1 on Fox.
So that means it's instant elimination right? Wrong. Because here's how they did.
This proves they can dance even from far away.

Buzz-GSN where we ask you guys on the Game Show Network Facebook page anything and everything.
We begin with Vinny Vasile.
I totally enjoy the game show Network. Why are there so many episodes of America says and family feud. You have many other great game shows such as common knowledge, people puzzler in addition to many others. In the evening hours there is only so many episodes of America says that can be watched. It gets boring. Perhaps you can change the schedule a little bit so that your audience can see other shows in the evening that are only available in the day. The working class will be happy! Thank you.
It's nice to appreciate someone who is a GSN nut. Next we go to Jackie Holly Wood.
omg I am such an embarrassment to pop culture! It’s so different with lights and cameras and a split second to think! HOW DID I GET SPIDERMAN WRONG I knew the right answer as SOON as I said the wrong one lol. I had such a blast filming for #PeoplePuzzler with Leah Remini on Game Show Network though! here are the highlights of me on the season 2 premiere
Enjoy your moment in the sun, Jackie. Next, Ricki Lindsay.
I am LOVE, LOVE, LOVING the Master Minds segments on the weekends. I am really missing this program and new shows. It’s my favorite!
