Welp, after 2 decades, he got the final rose.

It’s officially the end of an era for one of television’s most enduring — and prolific — reality franchises.

Following reports this morning that Chris Harrison has left ABC’s The Bachelor after reaching a settlement with producer Warner Horizon, Harrison posted a farewell message on his social media channels.

“I’ve had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise and now I’m excited to start a new chapter,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we’ve made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime.”

His exit from the franchise was also confirmed in a joint statement by Warner Horizon and ABC Entertainment. “Chris Harrison is stepping aside as host of The Bachelor franchise,” the companies said. “We are thankful for his many contributions over the past 20 years and wish him all the best on his new journey.”

Harrison had fronted the Mike Fleiss-created The Bachelor and all its lucrative ABC spinoffs since 2002.

As part of the breakup deal Deadline reports that he will receive a mid-range eight-figure settlement.

The split comes after Harrison departed the shows amid controversy over comments he made during an Extra interview, in which he defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who had posted photos that she attended an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity formal.

The news comes after ABC aired the season premiere of The Bachelorette last night. Bachelor in Paradise is airing this summer. While the flagship The Bachelor is generally a lock for January, there’s had been no official word on whether it will be back at the start of 2022.

Although the Season 17 premiere bowed to 3.59M viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, per early Nielsen Live+Same Day numbers, it marked the lowest premiere in the series’ history. The top-rated program in the 8-10 p.m. time slot, The Bachelorette premiere fell from its previous bow in October 2020 (4.76M, 1.3) by 24% in viewers and four-tenths in rating.

The Bachelorette saw Katie Thurston in the spotlight and alums Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe taking up hosting duties in Harrison’s absence.

Following The Bachelorette‘s two-hour season premiere, The Good Doctor Season 4 ender (3.91M, 0.5) kept ABC at the top Monday evening. The episode, which bid goodbye to Antonia Thomas’ Dr. Claire Browne, also saw Lea’s (Paige Spara) marriage proposal to Shaun (Freddie Highmore).

The Good Doctor finale was up against a rerun of Bull on CBS and a new Small Fortune (1.21M/0.2) on NBC. Like other recent finales, The Good Doctor saw a drop in ratings and viewers from its previous season ender (1.1, 7.58M).

Going up against The Bachelorette season premiere from 8-10 p.m., NBC’s American Ninja Warrior held its own, raking in 3.07M viewers and a 0.5 rating. Fox’s Monday evening consisted of new Hell’s Kitchen (2.42M, 0.6), Housebroken (.97M, 0.3) and Duncanville (.70M, 0.2). The CW showed reruns of All American and Penn & Teller: Fool Us.

The classic musical guessing game with Jim Lange finally found a new home. And that new home is: Tubi. The all time great is sharing the confines with the current version being done by Jane Krakowski and Randy Jackson. So download Tubi today and take your pick. BTW, these are 20 shows now shown anywhere on TV in years and there will be more to come. Trust us on that.
