“Dancing with the Stars” tapping Tyra Banks as host hasn’t exactly gone over well with longtime fans who are upset over Tom Bergeron‘s and Erin Andrews‘ dismissals, but Carrie Ann Inaba is fully behind the new energy the supermodel brings to the show.
“I mean, it’s been controversial, yes — let’s just say it — it has been,” Inaba told “Us Weekly.” “But what I think is that she has an excitement to her that is sort of hard to put words to. That’s what makes people want to tune in. And she’s so passionate about what she does, and I’m loving that she’s bringing this fashion game to the show.”
That does not mean Inaba isn’t feeling Bergeron’s and Andrews’ absences. “I miss Tom and Erin, seeing them, of course, because we’re like family. I don’t get to see them every week,” she said. “But I do think Tyra’s brought an amazing energy.”
“It is not easy for any of us, and I think that she’s stepped in and she’s filled the shoes and she’s done an amazing job and taken it in her own direction,” she continued.
Bergeron and Andrews were dropped in July as part of a creative overhaul to “evolve” the long-running show, now in its 29th season, showrunner and executive producer Andrew Llinares has explained. “I think it’s all about evolution. I think any show like this that’s been on for many, many seasons needs to continue to evolve,” he said last month. “I think changing the host was all about evolution. It was about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new, kind of make it reach out to a new audience, as well as the audience that’s been there for years.”
She has it going on like a pot of neck bones
Landing in the bottom two was not Peta Murgatroyd‘s biggest concern on Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars”: She pulled her neck, but she is expected to be OK for next week.
“Sorry everyone tonight on @DancingABC I was absent from our spots after our dance. I pulled my neck and had to run to therapy,” the pro tweeted shortly after the show. “I’ll be ok but I needed to get it seen to ASAP. Thanks for the concern. Love you all and I’m looking forward to next week.”
Murgatroyd and Vernon Davis scored a 21 for their tango to Bon Jovi‘s “Livin’ on a Prayer” on ’80s Night and found themselves in the bottom two alongside Jesse Metcalfe and Sharna Burgess, who were eliminated. Murgatroyd appeared to be in discomfort as the pair received their critiques from the judges, at one point grimacing, stretching her neck and grabbing her right shoulder. She was MIA in their couple’s box following the routine, but returned to the stage for the elimination.
The two-time champ further clarified in an Instagram Story that her stern demeanor was due to her injury as some fans started speculating that she was upset with Davis or their scores. “Vernon did a great job tonight and I’m proud of him,” she wrote. “I’m sorry if it came off any other way. I was in a lot of pain when the judges were giving their critics [sic]. Again, love my Vernon, nothing to do with him.”
Series 10 of gameshow Taskmaster is about to land on our screens, with Greg Davies and Alex Horne returning to set a new line-up of comedians various pointless tasks for the chance to win a bust of Davies’ head.
The upcoming series marks several firsts for Taskmaster – not only is it the first to air on Channel 4 following a move from Dave, but it’s also the first to have filmed during a pandemic with socially distanced protocols in place.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Horne revealed that “95 per cent” of the tasks with the Taskmaster line-up were luckily filmed before the coronavirus outbreak, however most the challenges they had to face revolved around scenes shot in the studio.
“So obviously in the studio, we have the live tasks where they’re all up on stage, so for those ones they all had to be two metres apart,” he said.
“But that was quite fun because you just sort of work it into the rules and you make it part of it so it’s been something we’ve had to think about but we always have limitations – normally on budget – the Taskmaster house is quite small but limitations just make you more creative I think so it’s not been a problem.”
Greg Davies added that social-distancing requirements also meant that both him and Horne couldn’t interact with the other comedians outside of filming.
“The other effect it had which I think’s interesting is we couldn’t hang about. We couldn’t hang about and chat before we started the record, so it’s almost, it sort of adds to the feeling that we’re now in Taskmaster world because the first time that we all chatted during all of the day’s filming is when we walked onto the set just before the cameras start rolling.”
He continued: “I actually think that added in a way because it gets you into the mindset that this is the world we all live in now, this strange world where people are set challenges and they do well or badly and so it’s an added claustrophobia that works to our advantage.”

In these desperate times, the virus asked the govenors of all 50 states and the enitre world to stay home. But staying home doesn't mean you're bored and want to watch TV. You entertain to a virtual neighborhood and invite those you haven't seen as if you were going out. The stay at home orders forced us all to play Animal Crossing and Jackbox, but trivia nights are what we were missing when everybody remained in the house. Now the feeling of game nights are being brought to you on the internet thanks to this new segment called:
The Quarantine Olympics!
Going across.......the pond to this new thing the kids call Lockdown Trivia. That's LockdownTriviaUk as a Twitch name and as a companion to SMRT Trivia, it's hosted by a professional musican named Sam. Here is his story.
In August 2014, I was asked by my good friend Andy Turner to help him out with a quiz he was hosting at The Sun, a cosy little pub I worked at in Carshalton in South London.
His quiz would be quite unconventional, with tasting rounds, origami rounds and other madness and he wanted me to play a 'live music round'.
I brought along my Casiotone MT-45 and played a bunch of TV themes that the audience would have to guess!
Sadly, in June 2015, we lost Andy to Sepsis. In August of that year I was honoured to be asked to continue the legacy of Andy's silly quizzes and have done so ever since.
In April 2020, after the 'c word' had been around for a bit.. I decided I'd do one of my quizzes online for a few friends. Little did I know this would turn into weeks of online quizzes that helped to keep me and everyone else sane during the lockdown!
I'm back doing the pub quizzes at The Sun now every Sunday at 7PM but I've enjoyed the online ones so much that I've decided to carry on! Check the schedule to find out when you can join in!

The holiday season is upon us!

It’s tough to top Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek announcing your pick, although the Ottawa Senators hope that the players they choose end up being an even bigger deal.
The Senators headed into the 2020 NHL Draft with interesting options at picks three and five, and now we know how they handled them. The Senators selected Tim Stutzle with the third pick, then turned around to grab Jake Sanderson with the fifth.
Delightfully, Trebek announced the Stutzle draft pick for the Senators. When the fifth pick came around, Senators GM Pierre Dorion did the duties.
(Too bad there wasn’t some “Celebrity Jeopardy” Trebek parody action for the Senators at the NHL Draft, SNL-style. OK, maybe I’m getting greedy.)
In between those picks, the Red Wings selected Lucas Raymond fourth overall.
Paula Ayotte, a former Hawaii resident, earned a moment of a lifetime as a contestant on FOX’s singing game show I Can See Your Voice.
Ayotte is using her time to shine to prove that dreams can and do come true.
“I don’t think it was intimidating and I think it was more fun,” said Paula Ayotte, a former Hawaii resident.
The California-native moved to Hawaii Island to attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Ayotte later worked for NOAA Fisheries and called Hawaii home for 20 years.
When the opportunity came to be on I Can See Your Voice, the former scuba diver couldn’t resist bringing a touch of Hawaii with her.
“I would wear a wetsuit to work. Sometimes to keep ourselves up, we would dance and sing. So I’m used to dancing around in my wetsuit. I feel like I brought a bit of the island.”
Ayotte was tasked with fooling the judges to think she was a star-studded singer. She brought the heat and gave the judges a run for their money.
“I was determined to come out there and be like you guys are going to be sorry, because I can really sing.”
Ayotte was eventually revealed as one of the not so good singers, but her message remains clear.
“I want to show people it doesn’t matter how old you are. I’m 58 and so no matter what age and no matter how good you think you are, if you want to perform and show yourself to the world, then do it.”
Ayotte now lives in Los Angeles and continues to pursue her professional dancing dreams. She’s making it her life mission to show people how to live life to the fullest.
And now.....Very Scary Stories.......with our Game Show Live! Horror movie analyst......Sapphire Sandolo.
