Lebron James successfully did it with "The Wall." Stephen Curry successfully did it with "Holey Moley." Now, a retired Miami Heat player is next on the list.
WarnerMedia is bringing the adrenaline-fueled, award-winning British game show reboot of The Cube stateside with a series order, executive produced and hosted by NBA legend Dwyane Wade.
The show features pairs of contestants who must demonstrate skill, nerve and determination by braving The Cube, where they attempt seemingly simple physical tasks within the nerve-wracking confines of a glass box in the hope of winning a major cash prize. Working against the clock, each pair has nine lives to complete seven games, each worth an increasing amount of money, as they move closer to the jackpot. The ten-episode, 60-minute series is slated to premiere next year.
"The Cube is a massively popular national treasure in the U.K. Honestly, I can't believe it hasn't been snapped up here in the U.S. before now," said Corie Henson, EVP and head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT and truTV. "It is a visually stunning, but super simple game that everyone can play and almost no one can win. Stepping into The Cube takes focus, determination and calm under pressure, and I can't think of anyone who demonstrates those qualities more than Dwyane Wade. Dwyane is a legend who sets the standard on and off the court, and now Americans will have the once in a lifetime chance to compete with him by their side."
"I'm excited to join my WarnerMedia family in bringing this exciting and entertaining game show to the U.S.," said Dwyane Wade. "As a former athlete, I enjoy competition and I appreciate the skill set needed to compete in high-tension and fast-paced environments. As executive producer and host, I'm looking forward to teaming up with contestants to embark on a quest that is both physical and mental, as well as adding my own flavor to the show that will make this a fun family viewing event."
Building upon the existing U.K. fan-favorite format, the game show will include new twists and turns to keep the contestants on their feet and allow Dwyane to show his own skills. The updated series will introduce a "helping-hand" component, a call-to-action for our sports phenom host to enter The Cube and lend his athletic prowess and compete on behalf of the contestant. Additionally, the series will have an elevated feel, launching with the latest augmented GFX and camera technology.
"We are hugely proud of The Cube - it is a game show like no other. With Dwyane at the helm this series promises to be high-octane and jaw-dropping," said Layla Smith, Objective Media Group CEO. "It's very exciting to be bringing it to the WarnerMedia family, and we know viewers are going to be on the edge of their seats watching it." .

ABC gameshow The $100,000 Pyramid is returning to the studio in the last week of August.
The Michael Strahan-hosted series shoots in New York and it is thought that it is one of the first major non-scripted entertainment shows to return to the studio in New York, where Strahan films Good Morning America.
It comes after The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon moved back into 30 Rock a couple of weeks ago with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert planning to return to the studio next week.
The show, which is based on the Bob Stewart-created 1973 format, is a word-association game in which two celebrities and their partners face off in a race against the clock to make it to the winner's circle and take home $100,000.
Heading into its fifth season on ABC, the series was originally set to start production in June but was hit by the COVID-19 production shutdown. It is produced by Strahan's SMAC Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television and exec produced by Strahan, Constance Schwartz-Morini and Vin Rubino.
The series will be shot with all of the usual health and safety protocols with crews and contestants having their temperatures tested, with PPE equipment and social distancing measures. While the show usually shoots with a studio audience, as you can imagine, there won't be any in the studio this time around.

YUtv, a family entertainment network available over cable, satellite and free streaming, today announced at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour that "All-Round Champion" season two will premiere Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT.
The inspirational unscripted series, co-produced by BYUtv and marblemedia, assembles ten of North America's most decorated young winter athletes to compete in the ultimate winter sports competition. The catch? They won't be competing in their own sports; they'll be competing in each other's. Scored on skill, sportsmanship and improvement, the athlete with the most points at the end will be crowned the All-Round Champion.
Two-time Olympian and two-time world champion hurdler Perdita Felicien returns to host the series, which also features internationally renowned guest mentors, including Olympic gold and silver medalist Derek Parra in speed skating, Olympic gold and silver medalist Jennifer Heil in freestyle skiing, two-time Olympic gold medalist Kaitlyn Lawes in curling, Olympic gold medalist Jamie Salé in figure skating, Olympic gold medalist Beckie Scott in cross-country skiing, Olympic silver medalist Noelle Pikus-Pace in skeleton, Olympic silver medalist Max Parrot in snowboarding, Olympic bronze medalist Erin Hamlin in luge, world champion Sarah Hendrickson in ski jumping, two-time North American champion Gordon McArthur in ice climbing and three-time Iditarod champion Mitch Seavey in dog mushing.
"The first season of 'All-Round Champion,' featuring summer sports, was one of our bright stars this past spring," said Michael Dunn, managing director of BYUtv. "As one of our top-rated shows in linear, since the season one finale in May it's found even more viewers on digital as families binge the entire season on the free BYUtv streaming app. Not only are these talented, young athletes the future of their individual sports, but they are also role models of sportsmanship and respect for their competitors."

ITV is moving its celebrity reality show I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! from Australia to the UK after staging the show in its usual New South Wales home proved too challenging amid coronavirus.
Ant and Dec will host Season 20 as usual, but it will be set in the ruins of a countryside castle, rather than the tropical jungle of Australia. Celebrities will undergo all the usual grueling challenges and one will be named King or Queen of the Castle.
Richard Cowles, director of entertainment at ITV Studios, said: "We pulled out all the stops to try and make the series happen in Australia. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn't possible for us to travel and make the show there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stephen Mulhern knows a thing or two about gameshows. Over the course of his TV career, he's hosted a lot of them, including Magic Numbers, Catchphrase, Big Star's Little Star and Pick Me. His In for a Penny segment on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway proved so popular, it became a series in its own right and saw Stephen roaming the streets of Britain, challenging members of the public to take part in a series of silly (but sometimes unexpectedly tricky) tasks.
So, it's easy to see why he's been entrusted with ITV's new gameshow Rolling in It, as he's definitely a safe pair of hands. But even this genre veteran has been surprised by the series. That's because Rolling in It finds members of the public teaming up with celebrities, and while you might expect the virtual strangers to be almost painfully polite with each other, apparently that hasn't always been the case.
He says: "It's really weird when you see a relationship of a celebrity with a contestant – they don't know each other, have only met that morning and they argue like they are family."
Perhaps it's the pressure that's causing the bickering as there's a big cash prize at stake.
Rolling in It is a game of chance, where three teams – each made up of a player and their celebrity partner – roll coins down a moving conveyor belt towards slots which are labelled with large cash sums to win. But there are also 'Bankrupt' slots which mean the player loses everything.
As the game progresses, the prizes get bigger, but so do the potential losses. And by the end, the roll of one final coin could decide whether a member of the public goes home 'rolling in it' or not.

And merrilly, we keep on rolling with a segment we haven't done in a long while......

"The Bachelorette" is getting an unprecedented shakeup. The ABC reality show has cast a new lead for season 16, roughly two weeks into filming. Clare Crawley, who was announced as the Bachelorette in early March (before production was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic), has been replaced with Tayshia Adams, ET reports.
As ET previously reported, Crawley's journey will "still be a part of" this season of the show. Fans will have to tune in to watch what happens with Crawley and the contestants, but ET has learned that the 39-year-old did fall for one of her men, which is why her time with the show came to an end.
I don't get this. Why did the very popular dating franchise go take a Bledsoe for Brady? Well, it's because Claire wanted to find true love because she had enough of staying around at home because of covid-19 and decided that she wanted out. Rumors circulate that after a few weeks of filming, she was dating Dale Moss who in fact according to gossip writers is engaged. So if Claire came on the show had it not been for COvid-19 and wanted to look for love, will it turn out to be a turn for the worse? Good thing WarnerMedia decided to go with a more different Bachelorette who is......single. Yes, single. So ABC did the right thing in doing so. But will the viewers think it was a smart or a dumb move?
That's it for this week. Today's consolation prize is a kissing booth somewhere in a city park. For just $1, you've got 4 photos to make out. Please keep it PG-Rated. This isn't Cinemax.
Madison: Game Show Live! is a presenation of Jackbox Media Services, Spy Fox Entertainment and Pluto TV Networks which may or may not be responsible for the mess we made. I'm not joking. Really.
