NBC is bringing back hit British import and international game show phenomenon "Weakest Link," co-produced by BBC Studios' Los Angeles production arm and Universal Television Alternative Studio. The network has greenlit 13 episodes of the rapid-fire quiz show with Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning host and actress Jane Lynch ("Hollywood Game Night," "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") set to host and executive produce. "Weakest Link" will begin production later this year.
The new version of "Weakest Link" will deliver the fast-paced and quick-witted pillars of the original British format created by the BBC with a few modern twists. The hybrid game show sees contestants answer general knowledge questions to bank prize money across multiple rounds. At the end of each round, the contestants vote out who they perceive to be the "Weakest Link" remaining.
"I've been a longtime fan of this game-changing quiz show since it first debuted," said Lynch. "Each time the phrase 'You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye.' passes my lips, it will be with great reverence and delight."
"'Weakest Link' became an instant fan-favorite when it first aired on our network, and we are excited to bring a fresh, new take to the timeless format," said Meredith Ahr, President, Reality and Alternative Group, NBC Entertainment. "Jane Lynch has been a beloved staple in our NBC family for years, and her sharp wit and engaging personality will be the perfect match for this highly entertaining game show."
"'Weakest Link' is an iconic format that BBC Studios has distributed across the globe for the past two decades, capturing audiences and earning a place in pop culture history," said Matt Forde, Managing Director, International Production & Formats, BBC Studios. "Our Los Angeles production arm is proud to partner with NBC to bring the fastest and fiercest game show on TV back to America, and Jane Lynch is the ideal host to bring her own signature brand of fearless comedy to this fresh version of 'Weakest Link.'"
Casting is currently underway. Contact WeakestLinkCasting@gmail.com for more information.

To Tell The Truth......
R-Truth filmed a pilot for a game show on the WWE Network three years ago. It finally happened, but it was filmed during a pandemic. That means it is a different kind of program. The first episode of The R-Truth Game Show dropped today.
Alexa Bliss and Sheamus were the first contestants in this debut episode.
WWE went ahead and released the entire premiere episode on YouTube.
This is not a typical game show, but it wasn't expected to be. R-Truth showed off some exceptional hosting abilities as he had fun with his Superstar guests. Truth said he keeps track of all the points himself. At the end of the season the two contestants with the most points will compete.

On to news about the 2-sided streaming company.
Trevor Noah is getting in the Quibi game. The Daily Show show host will put his self-professed gaming skills to the test in Player vs. Player with Trevor Noah, a series he'll host for the nascent shortform digital service.
Comedy Central Studios and Noah's Day Zero Productions are producing the series, which will see him going head-to-head with some of the biggest names in the gaming world. After all, Noah claims to be the best non-professional FIFA player on the planet.
The series will spotlight the late-night talker host's skills against players ranging from true esports pros to celebs with a stake in esports teams to top Twitch streamers — battling within different known titles on various consoles. And expect no shortage of competitive banter between Noah and his prospective rivals.
Noah and Haroon Saleem are executive producing for Day Zero Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin for Mainstay Entertainment and Bob Bain for Bob Bain Productions.

But there's more.......
Struggling startup mobile streaming service Quibi won an important court ruling Monday afternoon, when a federal judged denied a plaintiff's request for a preliminary injunction of the platform's core technology feature, Turnstyle.
Judge Christina Snyder said in a heavily redacted ruling that the plaintiffs, listed in the patent infringement lawsuit as "JBF Limited 2019 - Israel" and doing business in New York under the name Eko, did not establish the necessary burden of "probable" harm from the alleged infringement, as opposed to "possible" harm.
"We are extremely pleased the Court ruled today that Eko has not presented a credible case for a preliminary injunction," Quibi said in a statement. "Eko has no case against Quibi—this is a frivolous lawsuit brought by a company and CEO looking for a payday. We will continue to aggressively defend ourselves.".

Now for a Mistplay Game Break. What toy from the 1990s is this?
Think about that after a Pandora song break from Joanna Lauren. She's a very young singer and she has this for you.........
And the answer.....it ain't Sailor Moon, It's.......
Not only there was an animated series, but this grim fun fact:
While the foam wings on the dolls provided a limited amount of safety, nonetheless, there were over 100 injuries reported, ranging from temporary blindness to facial lacerations requiring stitches. Galoob, the manufacturer of the toys, recalled them in June 2000 after less than six years on the market.
More depressing than Skip-it. And now a word from our sponsor.
