BritBox has acquired a raft of hit U.K. shows, such as thriller "Line of Duty" and gameshow "Pointless," to bolster its lineup of British programs on its North American streaming service.
BritBox, a joint venture between BBC Studios and ITV, closed new deals at Mipcom on Wednesday with Kew Media Distribution and Endemol Shine International to bring more than 250 hours of content to its U.S. and Canada platform.
Jed Mercurio-scripted police thriller "Line of Duty," starring Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar, Vicky Mclure, Keeley Hawes, and Thandie Newton, has been a huge hit for the BBC over its five series. BritBox has acquired the first four seasons of the show. Acorn TV has the US window on season five and the future season six.
Other shows included in the deal include Sky crime dramas "Thorne: Sleepyhead" and "Thorne: Scaredy Cat," starring David Morrissey and Aidan Gillen, and "Pointless," a popular BBC One game show.
Also included is long-running panel show "8 Out of 10 Cats" hosted by Jimmy Carr and the mystery-spy series "MI5," starring Peter Firth, Matthew Macfayden and Hawes.
Soumya Sriraman, president of BritBox, said: "This new deal is just another instance that BritBox is committed to bringing the best of British content to our communities all on one service."
BritBox is available for $6.99 per month in the U.S. and Canada, offering a range of British shows. ITV and the BBC are set to launch a similar service in the U.K. this quarter.

Having previously announced a deal with Zense Entertainment in Thailand for its action-packed new gameshow format BLOCK OUT, Nippon TV announced today that the format they developed with Red Arrow Studios will be created by QV Media and air on VTV in Vietnam, and also has been licensed to PT Cakrawala Andalas Televisi and air on ANTV in Indonesia. Both versions are slated to start airing this November.
The Thai version of BLOCK OUT started airing on Channel 7 from July and immediately rose to the top position in ratings.
Atsushi Sogo, President, International Business Development, Nippon TV said: "We are delighted to announce the Vietnamese and Indonesian adaptations of BLOCK OUT, just a few months after its smashing success in Thailand. Proving that this hilarious yet thrilling studio game show format can grab the hearts of viewers across the globe in this multi-platform era, BLOCK OUT is sure to become a hit in Vietnam and Indonesia."
In each episode of BLOCK OUT, two teams of four players – each with their backs literally against a wall – battle it out in a variety of physical games, combining trivia, strategy, and chance. Each team plays on a separate identical wall comprised of more than 100 giant blocks. Across several nail-biting games, wrong answers, and bad judgments, "blocks" will be pushed out in a variety of combinations and speeds, forcing contestants into crazy positions to try and avoid being knocked down into the pit below. The team who keeps the most players on the ledge for the longest wins the game.
Red Arrow Studios International has worldwide rights, excluding Asia, to BLOCK OUT, and is launching the format at MIPCOM 2019. Nippon TV distributes BLOCK OUT in Asia..

HGTV has raised the stakes for its female-led, super-charged home reno competition series Rock the Block, premiering Monday, Oct. 21, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The grand prize winner of the competition still gets bragging rights and a street named after her, but now each weekly challenge winner will score a showcase episode of her own HGTV series immediately following the one hour airing of Rock the Block. Home renovation/design experts Leanne Ford (Restored by the Fords), Mina Starsiak Hawk (Good Bones), Jasmine Roth (Hidden Potential) and Alison Victoria (Windy City Rehab) will go head-to-head in an explosive showdown to max-out four identical properties and add the most property value to each home. With just four weeks and an individual budget of $175,000, the competitors must renovate and design such spaces as a master suite, kitchen, great room and outdoor living space.
"Rock the Block is an 'on-the-edge-of-your-seat' competition event," said Jane Latman, president, HGTV. "Each week is full of surprises as these renovation and design powerhouse women battle it out to see who will ultimately get the crown."
At the end of each weekly Rock the Block challenge, a special guest star from HGTV will judge the rooms and crown the winner. Tarek El Moussa (Flip or Flop) will judge the reveals of the master suites, Mike Holmes (Holmes & Holmes) will review the kitchens, and Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (100 Day Dream Home w.t.) will evaluate the great rooms and outdoor living spaces. In addition, Nicole Curtis (Rehab Addict) and Tiffany Brooks (HGTV Smart Home 2019) will make special guest appearances during the series. Once the homes are completely overhauled, Rock the Block host Drew Scott, star of Property Brothers: Forever Home and real estate expert, will do a full top-to-bottom inspection of the newly renovated homes. He will determine which designer added the most overall value to her home to become the ultimate winner of the competition. .

Grab your glue guns and get ready to laugh as NBC's "Making It," from executive producers and hosts Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, returns with a multi-night crafting event beginning Monday, Dec. 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
In a binge-worthy holiday treat, "Making It" premieres Monday, Dec. 2 and continues Dec. 3-5 (10-11 p.m.), Dec. 9 (10-11 p.m.) and Dec. 10 (10-11 p.m.) before concluding with a two-hour grand finale telecast on Wednesday, Dec. 11 (9-11 p.m.).
"I'm so happy to be back in the barn for season two of 'Making It' with my pal Nick, where the Makers create masterpieces and everyone continues to aggressively like each other," Poehler said. "I'm so excited for America to see our new crop of crafting champs," Offerman said. "Their creativity and pluck make my job feel like I'm getting paid to cheer at the Olympics."
The wow factor is raised in season two as the country's most imaginative Makers from Miami to Portland take fans on a journey through everything from office makeovers to three-dimensional holiday creations. Working with mediums from food to felt, and no shortage of electricity, this season's Makers vie to impress returning judges Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy trend expert and Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador for Barneys New York.

Which brings us to this question: In what year did the Statue of LIberty reopen most recently?

We'll tell you about it after a Google Play music interlude as Svengoolie gives us yet another hit.

And I'm getting whiplash. Anyway, the answer is..........the same year rap decided to have a meet cute with rock............1986.

July 3–6, 1986, was designated "Liberty Weekend", marking the centennial of the statue and its reopening. President Reagan presided over the rededication, with French President François Mitterrand in attendance. July 4 saw a reprise of Operation Sail,[150] and the statue was reopened to the public on July 5.[151] In Reagan's dedication speech, he stated, "We are the keepers of the flame of liberty; we hold it high for the world to see."[
