Close to 2 seasons in, Hip Hop Squares took the old Hollywood Squares format and made it its own. Take that, Jon Bauman. But CMT decided to take matters into their own hands.

CMT today announced that its new gameshow series, "CMT's Nashville Squares," will kick off with a two-episode premiere on Friday, November 1st at 8p/7c. Hosted by comedian Bob Saget, the all-new series puts a country music twist on the classic game show "Hollywood Squares," following in the footsteps of hit series "VH1's Hip Hop Squares," by staying true to the beloved tic-tac-toe format and infusing it with some of the most influential and charismatic personalities in country music, pop culture, entertainment, sports, fashion, comedy and more.
Celebrity contestants and squares include Bill Engvall, Caroline Rhea, Carson Cressley, Chris Sullivan, Deana Carter, Devin Dawson, Fortune Feimster, Gary Busey, Jana Kramer & Mike Caussin, Jimmie Allen, Kenya Moore, Kyle Busch, Mark Ballas & BC Jean, Marie Osmond, Melissa Peterman, Mickey Guyton, Mitchell Tenpenny, Sara Evans, Tanya Tucker, and Ty Pennington.

Food Network has picked up primetime competition series Girl Scout Cookie Championship for a four-episode season. The news was announced Wednesday by network president Courtney White.
Hosted by "Penn & Teller Fool Us" host, actress & former Girl Scout Alyson Hannigan of How I Met Your Mother and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the series challenges professional bakers to transform their favorite Girl Scout Cookies into new dessert creations.
Judges Nacho Aguirre and Katie Lee are joined each episode by a rotating third judge, including confirmed panelist Carla Hall. Lee and Hall are also Girl Scout alums.
Production is currently underway and the series is slated to premiere in Q1 2020 during Girl Scout Cookie season..



Food Network has picked up a thirteen-episode second season of Supermarket Stakeout. In its freshman year, the show, which sets up pop-up kitchens outside local supermarkets, was seen by over 8 million viewers, a +12% growth for its timeslot versus year-ago for P25-54 and a +27% increase among millennial viewers.
Alex Guarnaschelli hosts as chefs square off in a competitive pop-up kitchen outside a grocery store. To make their challenge dishes, the chefs must size up shoppers as they exit the store and beg, borrow, and deal for their grocery bags.
Tenatively, season 2 will launch in early 2020.



Food Network and Cooking Channel are preparing for food's biggest holiday with a full slate of Thanksgiving-themed programming, including a live on-air event and first-ever, interactive Thanksgiving streaming event on the NEW Food Network Kitchen app, marking a 40% increase in Thanksgiving content compared to 2018. The November primetime lineup on Food Network includes: Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge, a four-episode competition hosted by Giada De Laurentiis premiering Sunday, November 3rd at 9pm ET/PT; Worst Cooks in America: Thanksgiving Redemption with Anne Burrell and Scott Conant on Sunday, November 10th at 10pm ET/PT; brand-new special Thanksgiving Pie Fight hosted by Sunny Anderson on Thursday, November 14th at 9pm ET/PT; a turkey-focused Good Eats one-hour special with Alton Brown on Sunday, November 17th at 8pm ET/PT and Macy's Thanksgiving Cake Spectacular with Maureen McCormick on Sunday, November 17th at 10pm ET/PT. In daytime, Food Network goes live on air on Saturday, November 23rd at 11am ET with special two-hour interactive event The Kitchen: Thanksgiving Live with The Kitchen co-hosts Sunny Anderson, Alex Guarnaschelli, Katie Lee, Jeff Mauro and Geoffrey Zakarian, joined by Alton Brown. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have charged six people with drug crimes who were allegedly linked to the overdose death of Colin Kroll, the co-founder of the HQ Trivia game app.
The six men, charged in an indictment unsealed Wednesday, were members of a drug-trafficking organization that called itself Mike's Candyshop, prosecutors said.
"This illicit enterprise allegedly allowed people to order heroin and cocaine to their doorstep simply by calling the business phone number with the same convenience as if they were ordering a pizza," said Peter Fitzhugh, special agent in charge of the New York field office of Homeland Security Investigations.

It's tough to tell you this next story.....


CBS is extending its relationship with Phil Keoghan: The network has handed a 10-episode order to Tough as Nails, a new competition series hosted by the Amazing Race vet.
Tough as Nails will shine a spotlight on "real people who are real tough in real life as a result of their physically demanding, everyday jobs," according to the official logline. Competitors will face "challenges that take place in the real world" that test their "strength, endurance, agility and mental toughness" and "redefine what it means to be tough, proving that it comes in all shapes and sizes." Keoghan will serve as an executive producer alongside his wife/longtime producing partner Louise.
"Tough as Nails was inspired by my proud, working class family of farmers, gold miners, builders and coalminers," Keoghan said in a statement. "I was lucky enough to spend my school holidays working alongside my grandfather, an A-grade mechanic, World War II aero mechanic, gunsmith and inventor. I'm excited to celebrate the skills of those who sweat on factory floors instead of gym floors, and those who wear work boots instead of workout shoes."
A nationwide casting search will commence in November; additional details can be found in the links below.
In addition to Tough as Nails, Keoghan continues to serve as host of The Amazing Race, which was quietly renewed for Season 32 back in May; a return date has not yet been announced..
