 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

Last week , we told you about the cancer scare of Alex Trebek and after about a week, guess what? He came with this video. Take a look.

Alex Trebek is taking a moment to show his gratitude for the flood of support he has received since revealing that he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
"Hi everyone, I just wanna take a few moments to say thanks to the, believe it or not, hundreds of thousands of people who have sent in tweets, texts, emails, cards and letters wishing me well following my recent health announcement," he explained in a short video posted on the Jeopardy! Twitter account. "I've heard from former contestants. Even Watson, the IBM computer, sent me a get well card."
"Now, obviously I won't be able to respond to all of you individually but I did want you to know that I do read everything I receive," Trebek continued. "And I am thankful for the kind words, the prayers and the advice you have offered and I am extremely touched by the warmth you have expressed in your comments to me. I'm a lucky guy."
Tuesday was the first scheduled day of production at "Jeopardy!" since Trebek's announcement last Wednesday. "We are taping today, and Alex is here and behind his lectern as scheduled," a spokeswoman for the beloved quiz show said Tuesday.
"Jeopardy!" occupies a stage on the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City, California. The show normally has two production days a week, when multiple episodes of the daily show are taped in a row.
So the show remains on track, which is consistent what Trebek said in his taped announcement.
The TV industry and fans around the world have rallied around Trebek. The Twitter and Facebook accounts for "Jeopardy!" posted a thank you message last Friday. "The outpouring of good wishes and support in response to Alex's recent health news has been humbling and overwhelming," the show wrote. "Please know that your messages are being conveyed to him and are deeply appreciated. From everyone at Jeopardy! — thank you."
Through thumb prints of their "buzzer fingers," a video compilation and multimedia scrapbook, former "Jeopardy!" contestants are creating mass tributes for Alex Trebek, who announced Wednesday that he's battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Sally Neumann, a mental-health counsellor in Seattle who competed on the hit quiz show in March 2016, said Thursday she's spearheading the projects through a secret "Jeopardy!" contestants Facebook group that has thousands of members.
"I spend a lot of time doing grief counselling for kids in an artistic medium, so I suggested everybody mail me their buzzer fingers — their thumb prints in the mail in various colors in ink — and I'm going to cut them up and make it into a collage of the buzzer fingers and send it to him," Neumann said in a phone interview. "It's like we're buzzing in one last time, giving him a thumbs up, imbuing the piece of art with all of our touch and gratitude."
Another former contestant is in charge of the multimedia scrapbook, while two others are editing the video compilation, Neumann added.
They're among a slew of "Jeopardy!" fans and contestants expressing support for Trebek and applauding the way he announced his diagnosis through a YouTube video, in which he stoically vowed to continue working and "beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease."
Trebek, 78, said in a video posted to YouTube he will attempt to finish out this season of "Jeopardy!" "Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week, I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer," he said. "Now, normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I'm going to fight this, and I'm going to keep working, " he said in the video. "And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rates statistics for this disease."
Trebek has hosted the show since 1984. He took a leave of absence in January 2018 after surgery to remove blood clots from his brain. In October 2018, he renewed his contract with Sony Pictures Television to continue as host of the quiz show through 2022.
Ken Jennings, who holds the record for the longest winning streak on "Jeopardy!" said on Twitter that Trebek is an institution like Walter Cronkite.
"I've said this before but Alex Trebek is in a way the last Cronkite: authoritative, reassuring TV voice you hear every night, almost to the point of ritual," Jennings said. "One thing I know for a fact: Alex is very aware of how much he means to millions of people, and how we will be pulling for him...I hope that's a comfort."
Pat Sajak, the host of "Wheel of Fortune," said he "would never bet" against Trebek.
"The Sajak family is deeply saddened to hear of Alex Trebek's struggle with cancer," he said in a tweet. "Our hearts go out to him and his family. But there is no one I know who is stronger and more determined, and I would never bet against him. We, and the entire country, are pulling for you, Alex."
Sajak's co-host Vanna White, tweeted her well-wishes too. "The clue: "He has the strength and determination to beat his cancer diagnosis." The response: "Who is Alex Trebek?" My family and I are sending love and tons of healing prayers to you Alex." she wrote.
"In the name of all that is good, please God, grant #AlexTrebek all of the health and vitality that you can! #teamtrebek," wrote LeVar Burton.
"The Bachelors" host Chris Harrison wrote: "Thinking and praying for fellow game show host and absolute legend Alex Trebek as he starts his fight with pancreatic cancer. God's speed my friend"
"Sending the wonderful and kind Alex Trebek and his beautiful family nothing but love and strength," wrote "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Brad Garrett.
"Sending all my love, thoughts and prayers to Alex Trebek. You are my hero." wrote "Dr. Ken" star Ken Jeong.
"I'm actually not sure if it should be its or it's, and in such a case pronouns don't really matter, so let me put it this way: Alex, kick pancreatic cancer's a--," wrote author Stephen King.
Mr. T shared a Bible verse in support of Trebek, who asked for prayers in his video message. "God Bless you Alex Trebek and anyone else who is Fighting Cancer. "Don't just keep the Faith.. Share the Faith!" Proverbs 3:5&6..." he wrote.
"Smart money says Alex Trebek beats this damned thing," wrote "Chopped" host Ted Allen.
"I'm saddened to hear about Alex Trebek's stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Stay strong, friend," wrote Dr. Oz.
"Alex Trebek is hands down the person I've seen on my TV the most over the years and @Jeopardy is one of my favorite shows ever. Pulling for you Alex" wrote comedian Ike Barinholtz.
"Oh my God. If anyone can beat this, you can. Sending heartfelt good thoughts and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. We love you, Uncle Alex," wrote former "Jeopardy!" contestant Brad Rutter.
"Sending so much love to Alex Trebek," wrote Busy Philipps.
"Our hearts go out to you, #Alextrebek, a member of our Disney-ABC family for so long. We admire your courage and determination, and in the words of Winston Churchill: "never, never, never, never give up," wrote Disney CEO Robert Iger.
"I pity the disease that messes with Alex Trebek. He is as formidable as he is likable. If you've met Alex then you know that makes him extremely formidable. #AlexTrebek is super human and superbly human," wrote comedian Dave Foley.
"Sending Love & Prayers To Alex Trebek. I've Been Playing JEOPARDY With Him Since I Was In My 20's,..Ahhh..30's," wrote Cher. "40's,..50's, OMG..60's I'LL NEVER BE TOO OLD TO PLAY. SON Used To Say "Cher...You're Such a Kid."
The CIA on Thursday tweeted in support of "Jeopardy!" host Trebek: "Q: This game show host visited CIA HQs & won the hearts of CIA's workforce," the CIA tweeted. "A: Who is Alex Trebek? On behalf of the entire CIA family, our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. This is not final @Jeopardy! You can beat this, #AlexTrebek!" the intelligence agency added.
Sony Pictures Television Chairman Mike Hopkins said Trebek has the company's support "as he tackles this challenge." "If anyone can beat this it's Alex," Hopkins said. "He has our full support as he tackles this challenge head-on."
"We commend Mr. Trebek for making this brave announcement and having such a positive attitude while facing pancreatic cancer," said Julie Fleshman, JD, MBA, president and CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). "We are working diligently to change outcomes for patients, but we need more people to get involved and help fund critical research."

ABC is doubling down on its game-show revival business, adding both Card Sharks and Press Your Luck to its roster of retro redos, where they will join Match Game, $100,000 Pyramid, (Celebrity) Family Feud and To Tell the Truth.
Pre-production on hour-long episodes is underway, with an eye on spring premiere dates, Vulture reports.
Card Sharks debuted in 1978 with Jim Perry as host, inviting contestants to guess audience survey results on a variety of topics, for a chance to flip oversized playing cards on the big board. There, they would guess if the next card would be higher or lower, or "freeze" their play if things get iffy.
The most recent regular Card Sharks revival, hosted by Pat Bullard, aired in September 2001.
Press Your Luck first aired in 1983, with Peter Tomarken as host. Three contestants would answer trivia questions to amass "spins" on the Big Board. But if their spin landed on the dreaded Whammy versus a dollar value/prize, they risked losing all winnings.
Per Vulture, the revival will add a bonus round where one player goes head-to-head with the Whammy for a chance to win a "fortune." Among its previous revivals, a version titled Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck premiered in 2002.

The Great British Bake Off will remain on Channel 4 in the UK until 2021 after the broadcaster and Love Productions agreed a new two-series deal.
The broadcaster has also commissioned Junior Bake Off for the first time, extending the format for younger contestants and audiences. A younger skewing version previously aired on CBBC.
The move comes after rumblings at the end of last year that Sky-owned Love Productions was playing hardball over a new deal with rumors that it was considering taking the format to another broadcaster or streaming service – a move that would have been hugely controversial after its move from the BBC.
The tenth season of Bake Off will air on C4 later this year with a further two seasons following that. Junior Bake Off, meanwhile, will run as a 15-part series later this year.

"Jersey Shore Family Vacation's" DJ Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino are gearing up for the dating experience of a lifetime with the new MTV show "Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D and Vinny," premiering Thursday, April 11th with back-to-back episodes.
The iconic duo is looking to step out of the shore house and into the arms of their 'Ride-or-Dies.' The new show features 20 contestants who will face off against one another in hopes of winning the love of DJ Pauly D and Vinny. The boys may get to choose who stays and who goes, but the ladies hold the ultimate power to decide whose love they're competing for - making this a reality-dating show unlike any other.

Ten's troubled 6pm timeslot has a new occupant, with Grant Denyer set to host Celebrity Name Game.
Denyer previously fronted Family Feud in the competitive timeslot, however it was axed last year due to declining ratings and audience fatigue with the format.
Family Feud went out with 213,000 metro viewers last year, with Denyer admitting Ten had accelerated the program's decline by running it too frequently. "It did good things, but we are probably guilty of driving it into the ground a bit too early," he said on his Sydney 2Day FM Breakfast show. "We gave it a bit too much. It's six days a week, twice a day, plus All Star Episodes."
Family Feud was replaced by quiz show Pointless, hosted by Dr Andrew Rochford and Mark Humphries, however this format also struggled to secure solid ratings. It premiered with 493,000 metro viewers, across Ten's main channel, as well as multi-channels Eleven and One (now known as 10 Peach and 10 Bold), however the numbers steadily declined from there.
"Celebrity Name Game is a new, fast-paced game show that will leave you on the edge of your seat, with the biggest names on pop culture on the tip of your tongue," a statement from Ten said. "True to Family Feud form, you'll be left screaming the answers at the television and playing along from the comfort of your couch."
Ten called the program the "most unpredictable game show on television", with a $10,000 prize up for grabs. Other Ten personalities will also assist with the competition, including former Goggleboxers and recent jungle participants Yvie Jones and Angie Kent, Beau Ryan from Chris and Julia's Sunday Night Takeaway, and Dancing With The Stars' Courtney Act.

Catch This!

addy McGuinness presents Catchpoint - BBC One's gameshow with difference. This is the very first physical game show where contestants need quick reflexes and brains in order to win the cash prize.
Ten giant screens have balls hidden above them which drop from the correct answer. Contestants must think fast because if they choose the wrong screen and miss the ball falling they risk losing their place in the game. The series begins on Saturday 23 March.
The premise of the game is simple - don't drop the ball! In the studio, ten large rectangular LED screens are positioned along the back wall of the Catch Zone. These screens will display the answers to each question that the players will face. Suspended above the Catch Zone are ten trapdoors - each containing a ball. Only the trapdoor that is located directly above the correct answer screen will open and send a ball plummeting to the ground.
All the players must do is stand in front of the screen that they think is displaying the correct answer, press the button to release the ball and then catch the ball when it drops from the correct answer trapdoor. If the player is standing in the right place, it should be a piece of cake but get it wrong and they'll have to rely on fast moves and quick reflexes not to drop that ball!
With a variety of rounds, all leading up to an exciting finale where a cash prize is at stake, Catchpoint is a brand new family-friendly game show, combining physical fun with general knowledge questions, in the ultimate battle of brains and balls.

In Food Network's newest bake-off, winners get to have their cake and eat it, too. Or perhaps more accurately, viewers will be able to eat it.
Hosted by "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro, the newly ordered baking competition series will test not only contestants' oven skills, but their business savvy as well. "Bake You Rich" lets four entrepreneurial pastry chefs face off for the chance to have one of their custom-made creations sold to the public on the Carlo's Bakery website, per the popular cable channel.
The four-episode series features new obstacles that go beyond tasting good and looking pretty. Each episode involves three challenges, with the final two competitors going head-to-head to mass-produce their confections at Carlo's, all the while dealing with machinery malfunctions and last-minute recipe changes. The rotating panel of judges includes Valastro, Chad Durkin, Erin McGinn, Vincent Tubito, and Valastro's wife Lisa, who must decide which tasty treat is best poised to sell big in Carlo's online marketplace.

Now.

Last year, That's Right wanted to be like HQ, but without all the numbers stuff and the gimmicky graphics. Just a game show on your phone on its own. Well, going into 3 months of this year, Orkan Arat, the founder, desperately wanted to get above 10k to keep it going, but fell a few people short. Look at HQ, they were riding the wave to popularity, but many got tired and some hung on and it still does today. Orkan even snuck in a few games like Confetti for example and asked everyone to come to the little game show that could. Nowadays, it's off until May. Why? To reboot and restart the whole thing all over again. Look at last year, they restarted it with a new option and newer sponsors. With those kind of gimmicks he may add, I wonder why if the team of Dr. Allison, Coach Ceasar, Holli, Benjamin and himself could roar itself back and get over the 10K mark the app tried to do.....and more importantly, I would say move the whole thing to 7:15 CDT just so to not logjam with other trivia apps and give it room for the competition after OOT or SB live. Because......it's Monroe, Louisiana's business and Orkan's own.
