 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

We are only 2 1/2 months away from 2019 and the outlook of the Broadcast and cable landscape is looking good for the set starting with the Peacock network.

Looking to begin the new year with off-the-charts alternative muscle, NBC's January lineup is set to include the premiere of "The Titan Games," the new epic physical competition series from Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia; the debut of "America's Got Talent: The Champions," the global winter edition of the network's summer powerhouse; and the second season of the highly popular series "Ellen's Game of Games," from superstar executive producer Ellen DeGeneres.
THE TITAN GAMES Premiere: Wednesday, Jan. 2 from 8-10 p.m. and will start airing in its regularly scheduled 8-9 p.m. timeslot beginning Wednesday, Jan. 9 The 10-episode series from Universal Television Alternative Studio ("World of Dance"), A. Competitors will push their bodies to the limit by battling opponents in unforgiving head-to-head challenges. "The Titan Games" will not only test the competitors' physical strength, but also their mental and emotional fortitude. In this uplifting series, hard work and determination will be rewarded and a new breed of heroes will emerge. Titans aren't born, they're made.
"The Titan Games" is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Seven Bucks Productions. AMERICA'S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS Premiere: Monday, Jan. 7 from 8-10 p.m. Coming off a summer in which "America's Got Talent" continued as the #1 alternative series on television, "America's Got Talent: The Champions" will bring together some of the world's best acts from the international "Got Talent" franchises, spanning 194 territories, and come to share their talents and compete against one another in an Olympics-style ultimate celebration of worldwide creativity and talent. "America's Got Talent" finished the 2017-18 season as television's #1 alternative series in adults 18-49 and total viewers, with the Tuesday edition averaging a 2.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 14.2 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" results from Nielsen Media Research. "AGT" once again dominated the summer television landscape, towering by +5.4 million viewers over the summer's next most-watched entertainment program.
The series, from NBC, Syco Entertainment and Fremantle, will feature the star-studded judges panel from "America's Got Talent" - executive producer Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel - and will be hosted by Terry Crews.

Last season "Ellen's Game of Games" averaged a 2.3 rating and 9.2 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" Nielsens, making it the season's #1 new alternative series in both adults 18-49 and total viewers, as well as the top-scoring new in-season alternative program since "Little Big Shots" debuted in spring 2016.
"Ellen's Game of Games" is executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin A. Leman II, Mary Connelly, Ed Glavin, Andy Lassner and Jeff Kleeman and Derek Westervelt. David A. Hurwitz also serves as executive producer. The series is produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted and Alternative Television in association with Telepictures and A Very Good Production.

And we move over to the CW.

Continuing to bulk up its slate of original summer programming, The CW Network has acquired the British action drama BULLETPROOF from Sky Vision and ordered second seasons of the legal drama BURDEN OF TRUTH, starring Kristin Kreuk, and the fantasy-adventure series THE OUTPOST; all are set to air in Summer 2019. The CW has also ordered new seasons of the hit magic series PENN & TELLER: FOOL US and MASTERS OF ILLUSION, and the classic improv comedy WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? for Summer 2019. Premiere dates and times will be announced later.
PENN & TELLER: FOOL US is a one-hour competition series celebrating magic and featuring the legendary duo Penn & Teller. On each episode of PENN & TELLER: FOOL US, aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try and fool the world-famous team of Penn & Teller. Anyone who succeeds wins the right to perform with Penn & Teller in their celebrated show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The live studio audience and the TV audience watch along with Penn & Teller as they try to figure out the secrets. Penn & Teller see the trick only once and have to immediately try to work it out. The live studio audience knows there are no camera tricks, secret edits or helpful camera cuts. This is all real magic. PENN & TELLER: FOOL US, hosted by actress Alyson Hannigan ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "How I Met Your Mother"), is created and executive produced by Penn Jillette, Teller, Peter Adam Golden ("Penn & Teller's BS - Showtime," "Penn & Teller Tell A Lie") and Andrew Golder ("Win Ben Stein's Money," "Solitary"), in association with 1/17 PRODUCTIONS and September Films (part of DCD Media).
Hosted by comedian Aisha Tyler, WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? features cast members Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, who helped make the original U.S. version of this comedy improv series such a hit. Along with a special guest comedian in each episode, the cast members must put their comedic skills to the test through a series of spontaneous improv games. Prompted only by random ideas supplied by the studio audience and host Aisha Tyler, our four performers must use the little information they have and their wild imaginations to depict different characters and an array of scenes, as well as perform songs. After each round of improvisation, Aisha will dole out points to our four performers and declare a winner at the end of every episode.

We move on over to the History channel.

As HISTORY is on pace to finish the 10th consecutive year as a top 10 ad supported cable network among the key adults 25-54 demographic, the network has announced today the expansion of its nonfiction programming slate with six renewals and five new series orders.
Renewals include a massive 30-hour season six order of "The Curse of Oak Island," cable's #1 nonfiction series among total viewers in Live +3 delivery averaging over four million viewers; a 10-episode second season of "The Curse of Civil War Gold," the #1 nonfiction series launch across cable this TV season with total viewers; "Truck Night in America," HISTORY's #2 new series this year; along with new seasons of perennial hits "Alone," Mountain Men" and "Swamp People."
Additionally, new projects include "Yamashita's Gold," about the last great mystery of WWII in which Japanese soldiers, led by General Yamashita, buried a treasure deep in the Philippine jungle; the competition series "American Butcher" (working title) where master butchers carve their way through historical challenges and "Ax Men Reborn," along with two new series premiering in November, "Knight Fight," a competition series in which modern-day warriors battle using era-specific weaponry and armor, and "Brothers in Arms" about two Army veterans who are experts at historical military weaponry.
"Alone" Season Six - 10 X 60 min. Separated by miles and completely isolated, ten survivalists attempt the boldest survival experiment on "Alone." Season six will introduce a new set of men and women to face brutally freezing conditions in the most punishing environment yet - deep in the Canadian Arctic. In this new location, at the edge of the Arctic Circle, they must build their own shelters, hunt their own food, and overcome numerous deadly obstacles - such as a thriving grizzly and black bear population, territorial moose, packs of wolves and the increased risk of freezing - if they want to be the last person standing. With only a small rucksack of tools, enough camera gear to self-document their experiences and a cash prize of $500,000 on the line, season six will bring higher stakes, impressive levels of ingenuity and a greater desire to succeed than ever before. No camera crew. No gimmicks. Through all telecasts this past season, "Alone" reached 21.4 million total viewers in Live +3 delivery.
"Alone" is produced for HISTORY by Leftfield Pictures. Shawn Witt, Gretchen Palek, Simon Thomas, Zachary Green and Ryan Pender serve as executive producers for Leftfield Pictures. Zachary Behr serves as executive producer for HISTORY.

"Knight Fight" - 8 X 60 min. - Premieres Wednesday, November 28 at 10PM ET/PT Live by the sword, die by the sword: knights were some of history's most brutal warriors. With armor of steel and a will of iron, they took part in some of the bloodiest battles ever fought. These warriors were so dedicated that between bloody battles, they would challenge one another to extreme trials of combat. Today, the blood sport lives on in the form of the full-contact Armored Combat League - often referred to as "Medieval MMA" or "Knight Fight Club". Rooted in historical traditions, these modern-day warriors battle in over eighty pounds of plated armor with real steel weapons. Now, for the first time, these modern knights are set to wage war in this eight-episode series. Each episode will feature six fighters who will customize era-specific armor and weaponry and engage in a series of full-contact battles to see who has the skill and the strength to win the ultimate Knight Fight.
"Knight Fight" is produced by Matador Content for HISTORY. Executive Producers for Matador Content are Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin with Vincent Cariati serving as Showrunner and Executive Producer. Jim Pasquarella and Mary E. Donahue are the executive producers for HISTORY.
"American Butcher" (working title) - 6 X 60 min. Throughout history, the skilled craft of the butcher has been a lynchpin to survival. In early civilizations when foodborne diseases were claiming lives, it was the butcher with their sharp tools and sharper skills who kept death at bay - eventually becoming a fixture in every town across America. Today, there are thousands of people who cut meat but only a select few with the skills and expertise to be considered a "Master Butcher." Now, for the first time comes an extreme competition series where the best-in-class butchers battle each other in a showdown designed to put their skills, strategy and technique to the ultimate test. With knives drawn and machines at the ready, these Master Butchers will carve their way through painstaking challenges, use their expert knowledge to adapt to every historical twist, and reveal the fascinating secrets of the butcher's world.
"American Butcher" (working title) is produced for HISTORY by Railsplitter Pictures. Matt Ginsburg and Tim Healy are executive producers for Railsplitter Pictures. Jim Pasquarella, Dolores Gavin and Mary E. Donahue are the executive producers for HISTORY.

Whet your appetite! ABC announced today that world-renowned chefs, authors, restaurateurs and television personalities Cat Cora and Graham Elliot will be serving up some knowledge as judges on the upcoming culinary competition series "Family Food Fight," based on Australia's hit format. Hosted by restaurateur, food maven and NY Times best-selling cookbook author Ayesha Curry, the competition series will feature eight families from across the country sharing a common kitchen and a common goal: to claim the title of America's No. 1 Food Family.
Cat Cora has shattered the glass ceiling as one of the first females to dominate the culinary industry, becoming the first female inducted into The American Academy of Chefs Culinary Hall of Fame. As a mom of six, Cora's passion for health, wellness and food extends beyond the kitchen, having been at the forefront of creating a nationwide revolution of eating well, opening more than 18 restaurants across the U.S. and globally. Having made a commitment to promoting nutrition education, hunger emergency relief and humanitarian aid to reduce hunger worldwide, Cora also created her nonprofit Chefs for Humanity in 2004. She continues to be a leader in her industry as she masterfully synchronizes her award-winning talents with mainstream accessibility, all while she evolves into a space beyond the culinary world.
At age 27, Graham Elliot became the youngest four-star chef to be named in any major U.S. city. The recipient of many prestigious accolades, including multiple James Beard Foundation Nominations, Elliot opened his eponymous restaurant, Graham Elliot, in 2008, which went on to become one of only 15 restaurants in the U.S. to be awarded two Michelin stars. Most recently, Elliot launched his first restaurant project in Asia, Coast at MGM Cotai, in addition to unveiling his new concept, Gideon Sweet, a collaboration with his friend and mentor, Matthias Merges, in Chicago's West Loop. Elliot extends his relationship with Endemol Shine North America after having participated in 10 seasons of the company's hit "MasterChef" and "MasterChef Junior" franchise. He is also currently a judge on Bravo's "Top Chef."
On "Family Food Fight," family teams will pull out their best culinary moves in the kitchen, serving up authentic family dishes rich in cultural heritage, taking homestyle cooking to a whole new level. Cora and Elliot, along with host Curry, will lend their expert palates to help determine which family team will walk away with the coveted title of America's No. 1 Food Family and take home the $100,000 prize. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles later this month. An airdate will be announced at a later date.
Produced by Endemol Shine North America, "Family Food Fight" was created by Endemol Shine Australia with Nine in Australia and was recently renewed for a second season. Curry, Robert Flutie and Shab Azma are serving as executive producers through Yardie Girl Productions; and DJ Nurre, Georgie Hurford-Jones and Faye Stapleton are serving as executive producers for Endemol Shine North America.

Zig Zag Productions and Wingman Productions are co-developing a fast-paced shiny-floor game show, The Tower, funded by A+E Networks International.
The Tower is a new half-hour game-show format in which contestants answer quick-fire questions with the aim of taking control of a giant glass cylinder pierced by rods holding up 21 colored balls. The strategy-based game will see players pull as many rods as possible out of the tower, causing the valuable prize balls to fall while avoiding dropping the negative penalty balls or the game-ending black ball.
Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions, said: "Zig Zag have recently made a concerted effort to be in the studio game space and we are delighted to have partnered up with Wingman Productions and A+E International to bring The Tower to the international market in what we believe is a breakthrough format."
Andrea McLean, co-founder of Wingman Productions, said: "We are really looking forward to working closely with Zig Zag and A+E Networks in bringing the energy and excitement of The Tower to screens around the world.".

Now bounce to this.....

Fox has picked up Big Bounce Battle, an obstacle course competition reality series based on an European format, which will be produced by Endemol Shine North America.
Originally created by Endemol Shine Netherlands and co-developed with Endemol Shine Germany for RTL, Big Bounce Battle features trampoline obstacle courses that contestants have to complete as fast as they can. The trampoline tracks become more difficult as the series progresses toward the final where the fastest contestant wins a cash prize.
Executive producing the series, in the vein of American Ninja Warrior done entirely on trampoline surfaces, are Endemol Shine North America's Sharon Levy and DJ Nurre as well as Michael Heyerman.
The format made its debut on Germany's RTL earlier this year under the title Big Bounce – Die Trampolin Show, averaging 3.14 million viewers and an 9.8% market share. According to the producers, it was RTL's top rated non-scripted show debut this year and the network's highest rated new game show in four years among persons 14-49.
The Big Bounce Battle also has been commissioned by TF1 in France.
