Sharon Osbourne is saying goodbye to The X Factor — for now. The longtime judge of the British version of the reality competition series, which she first joined in 2004, confirmed her departure in a statement on Facebook Sunday, saying she "decided to pass on the series this year."
"After watching the new season #XFactor unfold, I've seen the new judges finding their rhythm and are doing brilliantly," began Osbourne, 65. "Simon [Cowell] was so gracious to find me a spot on the live shows but at this point I really don't think I'm needed and I would honestly feel odd coming in at this point. So I have decided to pass on the series this year."
She concluded, "I wish the show continued success and as much as I love to get my face on TV you will have to do without me this season. Loves ya, Mrs. O."
On Monday, Osbourne thanked her supporters on Facebook: "Thank you all for your messages of support regarding my X Factor announcement. It really means so much to me. A huge thank you and I hope to see you all on British TV very soon Big Kiss….Always, Mrs.O."
The series also confirmed her exit in a statement to Deadline.
"The X Factor can confirm Sharon Osbourne has decided not to return to this year's show," a spokesperson for the show said.
"Sharon will always be a big part of The X Factor family and we wish her all the best for the future."

Meanwhile, one judge on The X Factor is trying to one-up Simon Cowell by bringing in Britain's Got Talent star David Walliams for the Judges' Houses round.
Walliams is crossing over ITV talent shows later in the month, but not to help Simon pick his Girls squad. Instead, the comedian will be joining Robbie Williams to narrow down the field of Groups before the live shows. "The thing about this show is I'm actually a fan of it," David said today (October 2).
"I've always loved watching The X Factor, I've never missed a series. I've actually always wanted to do Judges' Houses. I like that I've now done it with Rob because I want him to win, I don't want Simon to win!" .

Amazon Studios today unveiled plans for Eco-Challenge 2019, the toughest global outdoor multi-sport endurance race on Earth from MGM Television and prolific Emmy Award-winning producer and Mark Burnett, to be hosted by survival and adventure phenom Bear Grylls.
The ten-episode event series will pit teams of four competitors selected from around the world against each other and nature's harsh elements in this grueling 24-hours a day, multi-day race. If one teammate quits the entire team is disqualified, which magnifies the pressure. The 2019 location for the international, epic adventure will be unveiled later this year.
Eco-Challenge 2019 will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.
Using state of the art cinematography, Eco-Challenge 2019 tests the limits of human physical and mental endurance in the most rugged natural landscapes on earth. Each team, comprised of both men and women, compete in grueling challenges over a 350+ mile race course. Past Eco-Challenge disciplines have included whitewater rafting, canoeing, mountaineering, horseback riding, scuba diving, and mountain biking - those for the Eco-Challenge 2019 event will be revealed to the selected teams later this year. To finish requires teamwork, courage, skill, and commitment; to win demands the extraordinary.
"I owe so much to Eco-Challenge. I came to the competition after I spent a few years competing professionally in expedition competitions," said Burnett, who is also Chairman of MGM Worldwide Television Group. "I went on to produce Eco-Challenge for a decade. It started my entire TV career and afforded me my first Emmy. I've been asked one question over and over. When is it coming back? Now it is. With Bear Grylls at the helm and the Amazon Prime Video team delivering it to a worldwide audience, we will make an amazing team, and the audience will see that this little race eats Ironmen for breakfast."
"Mark Burnett and Bear Grylls are a dream pairing when it comes to the world of ultimate survival. The STAKES and the emotions will run high for the teams on Eco-Challenge 2019," said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. "Our Prime Video audience is in for a high-octane edge-of-your-seat experience as these fierce competitors find their limits and are asked to push BEYOND them in an adventure unlike any other."
"Eco-Challenge is the ultimate survival-adventure race, against the elements, against the clock, and against some of the greatest extreme athletes the world has ever seen," said Bear Grylls. "Amazon Studios have such incredible global reach and the ability to unite so many countries and territories around this race, that shows human endeavor at its most powerful."

The real live online quiz truth in real live online quiz news, suckers!

The Walt Disney Company has invested in mobile entertainment app HQ Trivia's parent company Intermedia Labs, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. An Intermedia Labs spokesperson declined to comment.
A Disney spokesperson said that the company made the investment through its Disney Accelerator program. That program is a three-month startup incubator in which Disney mentors and invests a small amount of money in 50 emerging media and entertainment companies.
The investment is the latest example of the entertainment giant looking to evolve its business as traditional distribution outlets continue to lose ground to digital platforms and direct-to-consumer properties.
Disney's stake in HQ Trivia could create more opportunities for Disney to market its businesses through the app and incorporate the app's branding into its other businesses, such as producing an HQ Trivia-branded show for ABC's broadcast network or ESPN's ESPN+ streaming service.
And for HQ Trivia, Disney's backing could bolster the year-old app's ad sales efforts and expansion into new show formats as well as reassure any advertisers or other business partners wary of HQ Trivia CEO Colin Kroll's sordid history. (Disney investing in HQ Trivia's maker is not the same as Disney buying HQ Trivia, a distinction that could be connected to Disney's troubled acquisition of digital video network Maker Studios.)
The size of Disney's investment wasn't available. Intermedia Labs disclosed earlier this year that it was raising $15 million and was still looking for someone to invest $2.46 million to close the funding round, according to a regulatory filing published in March..

As far as their UK partner is concerned.....

HQ Trivia has just announced two brand new quiz shows are set to launch in the UK. There's HQ Sports, which launched Stateside back in July, and a new quizzical winner-takes-all show called The One, which won't be letting a group of winners share the prize pot amongst themselves.
The One will have a prize of £5,000, presented by HQ mainstay Sharon Carpenter, and will air this Sunday (7th October) at 9pm BST.
The downside is that this seems to be a one-off show for the time being, but HQ does have plans for the format with Dan Glassman, Head of International at HQ Trivia, saying: "Our 'one winner takes all' games are exciting, tension-filled events that offer us the opportunity to positively impact a lucky winner's life. We plan on further building out 'The One' format to deliver more excitement and larger cash prizes to our amazing fans."
The UK edition of HQ Sports will launch this Sunday at 2pm, with hosting duties handed over to Tyler West, a presenter who also happens to be a former member of Team GB - representing Britain in handball of all things. The launch is building on the success of sport-themed specials earlier this year, including those tying into the World Cup, and will be broadcast every Sunday to complement the range of weekend football people already enjoy.

Meanwhile, Swag IQ yesterday did 4 games and all hosted by Nathan Ondrackek covering all factets of pop culture. The first was movies, Music was the second, Toys & Games was 3rd and TV rounded out the group all starting at 5 central on the dot. Boy is he working hard for his buck.

Who needs mashed potatoes when you can have.....Gravy? Yep, the popular ios game not only lets you win money in a shopping contest, but lets you raise money for causes. Isn't that cool? And yes, there are amazing deals you can't get enough of.

Finally, all her time on Joyride has led to this.....

Heck hath no fury like a chef scorned. Kimberley Crossman (SMILF) has joined the pilot of ABC’s Sue-centric Middle spinoff, TVLine has learned, playing Remi, a talented hotel chef still recovering from a messy breakup that ended with her boyfriend driving away with their food truck — taking all of her dreams with it.
If you’re wondering what puts Sue (Eden Sher) in the path of this particular chef, we’ve got another bit of scoop for you: When Sue moves to Chicago, she’ll find herself working at the same hotel. Speaking with TVLine back in July, Sher said the new project — which has not yet been ordered to series — would focus on “Sue being Sue as a young adult.” (It will also be set prior to Sue marrying her neighbor Sean, as seen in a flashback during The Middle‘s series finale.)

And that sadly was the real live online quiz truth in real live online quiz news, suckers!!!!!

BBC Studios is taking Mastermind to Kazakhstan, where a 21 episode series will air on the Khabar channel later this year.
As in the UK version, contestants will compete to win the honor of being crowned Kazakhstan's Mastermind as they take to the black chair to be tested on their specialist subject and general knowledge.
One of Britain's most enduring and best loved quiz shows (debuted on BBC in 1972), Mastermind has previously sold to nine territories including Australia, Ireland and Russia, and is known for its "I've started so I'll finish…" catchphrase.

Sumi Connock, Creative Director of Formats, BBC Studios, commented: "We're thrilled that a huge heritage brand like Mastermind, which has been on air in the UK for over 40 years is still being welcomed into new territories."
