From one Queen to Another

Jennifer hudson is all set to play the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

The 37-year-old singer and actress said on Wednesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that it's a dream come true to portray the late singer in a new biopic.
"It's always been my dream to play Aretha, and it's actually happening," she told host Ellen DeGeneres.
"The Voice" coach confirmed Franklin handpicked her for the film, which is in early production.
"It blows my mind," she said. "I've always looked up to Aretha and to portray her -- I can't even speak about it because it's like, 'Oh, that's a huge task.'"

We all know Bill Cosby is getting 3-10 years in the klink for getting into the #metoo movement, but.......

Sixteen years after bestowing the Career Achievement Award to Bill Cosby for his many contributions in the entertainment industry, the Television Critics Association has voted to rescind that honor, the organization announced Tuesday. This came just moments before the 81-year-old actor was due to be sentenced for the 2004 sexual assault of Andrea Constand, one of dozens of women to come forward and accuse Cosby of abuse.
“For over 30 years the media organization of more than 200 professional TV critics and journalists from the United States and Canada has recognized outstanding television programming and actors in a variety of categories,” reads a statement from the TCA. “This includes the prestigious Career Achievement Award, which is presented to an individual who has influenced television through his or her work on the small screen. Cosby received that award in 2002. This marks the first time the TCA has repealed an award.”

Josh Segarra, Michael-Leon Wooley, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere join the cast of AJ and the Queen, the upcoming Netflix comedy series starring Emmy Award-winning RuPaul Charles.
The series is written by Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City) and RuPaul Charles who will both serve as executive producers.
Josh Segarra will play Hector. Segarra can also be seen in as 'Jason' in the feature remake of Overboard (MGM), 'Adrian Chase/Prometheus' on Arrow (The CW), and 'C.O' Stefanovic on Orange is the New Black (Netflix). Other recent credits include Judd Apatow's feature film Trainwreck and as 'Billy Cepeda' in the comedy series Sirens on USA.
Michael-Leon Wooley will play Louis. Wooley is a Broadway, TV & film actor who was the voice of Louis, a high-strung jazz singing, trumpet playing alligator in Disney's Oscar nominated animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog. Michael has also appeared in Grace & Frankie, Dreamgirls, Premium Rush, Ghost Town and My Father's Will.
Katerina Tannenbaum will play Brianna. Tannenbaum is best known for her recurring role of Becky in the Starz series Sweetbitter and the recurring role of Lelia in Freeform's The Bold Type. As a model, Katerina has worked with brands including Gap, Adidas, Nordstrom, L'Oreal, and more.

Talk isn't cheap.....or is it?

We say goodbye to a man with many jobs in the media world and say hello to an AI alum who has been more successful.

Comedian and talk show host Steve Harvey has become a household name on the radio, big screen and TV.  Now the comic is about to lose one of his crowning entertainment jewels, his daytime talk show, “Steve.” The talk show is scheduled to reach its series finally at the end of the year, however, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it has been replaced with a new show in the same slot in some markets.

The talk show series will be hosted by pop star, “American Idol” winner and “The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson, who reportedly filmed the pilot episode earlier this year. NBCUniversal has already begun airing the show in markets including  Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and Washington, D.C. NBCUniversal canceled “Steve” after two seasons on Sept. 19, 2018, due to low ratings two weeks after the second season debuted on Sept. 4, 2018. But at 61, Harvey’s star is far from declining. Harvey continues to host the hit TV game show “Family Feud” and his production company and stays busy with charitable works. Recently, it was also announced that his weekly radio show was being pulled from the Dallas market, however, he remains a strong force in other urban radio markets.

But in the long term, the casualty could turn out to be the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, which has aired on NBC since 1965 but is only renewed through next summer. Days has been on the cancellation bubble for years as one of the last classic soaps still airing in network daytime.

A bit  of a news story from Monroe, La and something's not right here......

The people at That's Right was supposed to have a game today, but.....the little green countdown counter showed at least 33 days. We checked and it's right at Halloween which is the earliest. The reason why is that there are problems with players not seeing the questions and the answers for some people in the iOs field. As soon as the bug is squashed, it'll be back to game play. I'm guessing it might be dead in the water, but who knows?

An incoming Brookfield business allows guests to immerse themselves in popular television game shows.
Owners David Sauer and Kevin Letnes are opening their second location of Game Show Battle Rooms at 12565 W. Feerick St. The pair launched their first venue in Minneapolis last year and plan to open their Milwaukee-area location Nov. 9.
Sauer said he met Letnes – who is a part owner of the Milwaukee Burger Co. – in college, and they determined they wanted to start a business together. The Minneapolis location is doing “extremely well,” Sauer said, so they looked around for another city where they could bring their concept.
“We felt like the greater Milwaukee area would be perfect,” he said.
Guests can sign up a group of up to 12 people on Fridays and Saturdays for a one-hour game package. Classic Showdowns includes rounds of “Friendly Feud,” “Wheel of Phrases” and “Name that Price.” The Primetime Showdowns package also includes a round of “Friendly Feud,” plus “Minute Games” and “Matchup.”
Sauer said Game Show Battle Rooms also welcomes larger groups from businesses, clubs and teams by appointment during the week for team-building events.
“It’s a business that can appeal to everyone,” he said.
Game Show Battle Rooms tries to make the experience unique and personalized with name tags, a game show host and technical features like audio, lights and a score board to track “battle points.” The winner can take a picture with the champion trophy and appear on the Wall of Fame.

And here's the link to it:

Now it's only in Minneapolis and Milwaukee as I  mentioned, but if you add Miami, Memphis, Myrtle Beach, Manhattan Beach, Montgomery and Macon, Georgia, watch out!!!!!

All throughout September, we had Remote Control redhead Christa nannos play a single lady looking for love in a web musical comedy entitled Super Single and we're going to end with the 5th episode of teh series. But don't worry, we'll have new ones next September. For now........watch.

That's all for now, but remember one thing: If you want a seminar on how to create a live trivia app from somewhere not in Los Angeles or in New York, get Scott Rogowsky to host it. That'll give business owners a way to turn it into a growing genre.

So until next time and all the time....play on playas.
