I'll take game show hosts with a nasty fall for $800.
Alex Trebek has provided fans with an update on his health, and though he didn’t answer in the form of a question, he says his “prognosis is excellent.”
In a video shared via the Jeopardy YouTube page, Trebek revealed he had surgery over the holiday break to remove blood clots on his brain caused by a fall he suffered in October. Wearing a Jeopardy hat, Trebek appeared in good health and good spirits, saying, “I expect to be back in the studio taping more Jeopardy programs very, very soon.”
This is not the first time Trebek has suffered a health setback. In 2011, he tore his Achilles tendon while chasing a burglar from his hotel room, and in 2012, he suffered a mild heart attack. More recently, in 2015, he had to host while seated due to a full knee replacement.
However, none of these setbacks have deterred the longtime Jeopardy host, even if they occasionally cause postponements in taping the game show. Trebek has hosted Jeopardy for 33 years and counting, and just extended his contract through the 2019-2020 season (which will be the show’s 36th year on air). For $1,000, what is longevity?

Don't bang the gong just yet......
ABC has announced that it won't be gonging its popular summer series "The Gong Show" and has renewed it for a second season. Celebrated film and television actor/comedian Mike Myers has finally confirmed the rumor that he is, indeed, the show's host - British comedic legend Tommy Maitland.
"Being the host of 'The Gong Show' is a blast! Pure fun," said Myers. "It is with great delight that I can finally admit that there is indeed a Tommy Maitland, and that I portray him."
"The Gong Show," which is executive produced by actor/comedian Will Arnett, will go into production later this year, and an airdate will be announced at a future date.
"I was just as surprised as the next guy when I heard 'The Gong Show''s host, Tommy Maitland, was a character portrayed by the insanely talented Mike Myers," Arnett revealed. "Despite this shocking news, I'm in total awe of the man, and we are so fortunate to have him as our brilliant host."
Last summer, the iconic and irreverent talent show competition made its way into the 21st century with a bang, celebrating unusually talented and unique performers on a primetime stage for 10 episodes. A revolving panel of judges featuring Hollywood's biggest stars, often including Will Arnett, praised, critiqued and gonged contestants in this revival of one of TV's all-time great variety shows. Most performers went home with their unique talent that only a mother can love, but the winning act with the highest judges' score received "The Gong Show" trophy and a check.

Idol......gets kinder.
What almost seemed like a hallucination in 2017 is now a fast-approaching reality. American Idol, the most popular show on television for a large chunk of this still-young century, is returning to the airwaves on March 11 on ABC two years after it was canceled by Fox. And, per producers and stars, it's not changing (with one small caveat).
ABC trotted out the cast of its revived Idol for the first time on Monday (Jan. 8) at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, posting up Ryan Seacrest and company for reporters — many of whom expressed skepticism about the timing of the reboot. Seacrest seemed to share their concerns. The returning host offered up his thoughts on why the last few seasons of the Fox version didn't produce any breakout talent and why that's such a priority this time around.
"What was important to me [about the reboot] was that there were going to be stars on the show that were going to come on to collaborate and take this seriously and give the franchise what it deserves," he told one TV critic. "The legacy of this franchise is important to me and to its fans."
The question of finding breakout talent, the way Idol did for so many years, was a more dominant thread in the conversation than ones about ratings and singing-show fatigue. Katy Perry, the show's $25 million marquee judge, referred to it as her top priority.
"Literally, we are wasting our time if we are not finding another star," said Perry. "I take it very seriously, sometimes to my detriment."
"That makes us work harder as a judging panel," added Luke Bryan, when no one onstage could immediately name an American Idol winner from its last few seasons on Fox. "Because there are a few years where you don't remember those contestants, we don't want it to go that way. We want it to go right back to what it was known for."
One thing Idol was known for was its mocking of bad singers during the early audition rounds, an aspect famously rebuked by NBC's The Voice when it premiered in 2011 and ultimately stole Idol's thunder. Showrunner Trish Kinane said that would no longer be the case, though she was also quick to note the original version of the show had leaned away from that in its later years.
"It doesn't feel comfortable to put borderline unstable people up on stage and laugh at them," said Kinane. To her point, reality television has largely evolved past the kind of personality profiteering and audiences are savvier about how people get on camera.

And now, Michael Anthony Castellon's most over reactive, most overthrown, most so over whine of the month!
"I know why Verizon is dropping you because you have too much Feud on and your viewers are complaining of too much Feud the same thing viewers complain about the weather channel having too much reality shows instead of Live weather and that's how the weather channel got dropped and you're about to be the same way getting dropped because of too much Feud and that's on you getting dropped."

Now.
If Fox had 5th Grader, then ABC has a new cousin on its hands. Child Support. The premise is simple: A contestant in the studio will be asked an open-ended question by Savage. If their response is correct, the contestant's possible winnings will become the value of that question. In the event the contestant is wrong, their position in the game is at risk. Five youngsters are asked the same question by Gervais and if any of them give the correct response, the contestant is saved and will be able to continue playing. Being saved in this manner will cause the top prize of the game and subsequent prize amounts to be moved to the next lower amount. If the contestant is wrong on the final question, their total possible winnings will become the last correct answer's value. However, if no correct response from the kids is given, the contestant's game is over and they leave with nothing. After playing the 4th and 8th question, the contestant is given the opportunity to walk away from the game with their winnings up to that point.
If it feels like Fifth Grader adding in it's save option, then it looks like Child Support went to High School. Great. Now if ABC continues to keep that up,it'll be hard competition when NBC gets Genius Junior on the air.
