 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

With 2018 being the 2nd year of Game Show Live!, GSN decided to add some classics on Saturday. Each Saturday night beginning December 23, our little game show network will run a four-hour oldies block 7:00 PM-11:00 PM (Eastern time). The block for the first few weeks will be an hour each of Match Game, Press Your Luck, Jim Perry's Card Sharks, and Monty Hall's Let's Make a Deal

As far as Buzzr is concerned, Supermarket Sweep will bow on January 15th. This marks the first time in over a decade that the classic shopping game show is coming to the network. Plus, 3 shows from the 2000s decade will be on Fridays next month. Celebrity Name Game, Karn Feud and.....if you can skip it.....Temptation will hit the airwaves. Also, The network will do an interesting refresh of their B&W offerings. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the original Password, The Name's the Same, and the original Beat the Clock will get an afternoon run.  Body Language, Blockbusters and Child's Play are now outta here. What a way to ring in 2018!

After this comemrcial word, Ninja Warrior goes head to head. That's...............when Game Show Live! returns.

First off.......

Epic competition series American Ninja Warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja is bringing more heat to USA Network's spring line-up, pitting three-person athletic teams against one another on physically demanding, side-by-side obstacle courses that test endurance and speed. Hosted by comedian Matt Iseman and former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila, the show will feature even more challenging obstacles than ever before - incorporating human agility, meticulous skill, and a whole new strategy of racing.

For the 16-part season, fan-favorite competitors from the primetime "American Ninja Warrior" franchise will form 36 teams, each with two men and one woman, all competing to become the ultimate champions. In addition to hosts Iseman and Gbajabiamila, FOX Sports' Alex Curry will serve as sideline reporter, rounding out the talent commentators.

American ninja warrior: Ninja vs. Ninja is executive-produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions' founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed (Hell's Kitchen, The Dunk King, Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge), along with Brian Richardson as executive producer. The show is a spinoff of "American Ninja Warrior" which is based on the "Sasuke/Ninja Warrior" format from Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc., and airs on NBC.

Here's a follow along on the HQ android app.

Quiz show app HQ Trivia is getting ready to expand to Android: HQ Trivia, which has been a hit on iPhones in recent months, will be publicly available for Android users on January 1, the company announced this week.

HQ Trivia had originally planned to expand to Android in time for the holidays, but ended up only releasing the Android app to a smaller subset of users as part of what the company called a limited beta test. "(We) are working quickly on patches, so we can continue to roll it out to more testers throughout the week. Our goal is to make it available to ALL by Jan. 1," the company said in a tweet.

A chaser is about to chase families.....

The Chase’s Governess, aka Anne Hegerty, has been given her own family quiz show by ITV, which puts families to the test.

The brand new quiz show will see a range of families from across the country battle it out in a bid to be named Britain’s Brightest Family.

It’s not only about answering questions, though, as the families will have to know each other pretty well if they’re to correctly guess what their nominated family member answered.

Anne explains what the show is all about: “It’s a knockout competition to find Britain’s brightest family. Sixteen families going up against each other to face challenges including word and number puzzles, problem-solving and general knowledge skills.

“Each team has been selected by its teenage captain, so it’s a chance for the whole family to show what they know, and how well they know each other.”

On making the move to ITV prime time, she says: “It’s a bit of a responsibility being the filling in a Coronation Street sandwich [in the ITV evening schedule]. But it’s lovely to be trusted with such an amazing opportunity.”

The new series begins on Wednesday January 10 from 8pm on ITV.

Cover this is you will........

Game Show Network, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today the premiere of its new documentary special, "COVER STORY: The Press Your Luck Scandal," premiering Sunday, January 14 at 7 pm ET. Additionally, the original scandalous Press Your Luck episodes featured in the special will air following the show at 8 and 8:30 pm ET.

The COVER STORY special will explore the story of Michael Larson, an air conditioning repairman from Ohio who cracked the game board algorithm and walked away with over $110,000 in cash and prizes. There was a one-in-six chance that each spin he took would erase his winnings, but Larson managed to evade the dreaded Whammy and accumulate the record breaking amount. Audiences went wild, but game show producers wanted to know how he did it. Had he cheated? Or did he simply outsmart the smartest minds in Hollywood?

"COVER STORY: The Press Your Luck Scandal" is produced by Game Show Enterprises, LLC for Game Show Network.

January 4 is National Trivia Day and iconic game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" is celebrating in fitting style, with fans getting the chance to answer questions and win prizes all day long.

"Millionaire" will mark the occasion on the show's website and across all of the show's social platforms. On Jan. 4, fans can log onto Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to check out a special slate of questions. If they comment with the answer, using the hashtag #MillionaireSweepstakes, they'll be eligible to receive a $100 Visa ® gift card. Two winners will be selected by random drawing every two hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Ready, catch this!!!!!

Global Road Entertainment has pacted with DRG for quiz show format, Catch Phrase. Under the deal, Global Road (formerly IM Global) has acquired an option for North and Latin America as well as China. Based on a property created by Pasetta Productions and Steven Radosh, Catch Phrase pits three contestants against each other, requiring them to identify well-known phrases and sayings contained in animated picture puzzles, in order to win big cash prizes.

It originally had a U.S. syndicated run in 1985-86 and has been a mainstay of ITV primetime in the UK for over 20 years. The recently re-booted version was renewed for a 6th cycle last month.

Global Road’s Phil Gurin calls it “a gem of a format. It is brilliantly simple, highly visual and has great play-along for the whole family.” Catch Phrase adds to the newly-rechristened Global Road’s development slate that also includes King Kong Skull Island; Cat’s Cradle; and I, Rebel as well as unscripted shows Oh Sit!, Grudge Match and Fittest Family.

Other producers to have licensed Catch Phrase include Shine in France, Endemol in Italy, Pernel Media for Switzerland and FremantleMedia for Australia. The UK version is produced by STV Productions.
