At one time, CBS did a show focusing on stars doing hidden talents live entitled "Secret Talents of The Stars." After one show........................gone. That means no more Kelsey Wingert singing a current hit. But, CBS did them a favor.

CBS announced today the NFL players who will compete to be crowned the MVP: MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER on a new, live, one-hour interactive talent show hosted by LL COOL J, to be broadcast Thursday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

After a nationwide vote, Brandon Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Justin Tucker, Alex Collins, Cody and Jacob Hollister (performing together), and Kevin Zeitler have been named the finalists who will compete in the talent show to find the current NFL player with the best off-the-field talent. If any player is unable to perform due to their football obligations, Domata Peko and Robert Nkemdiche have been named as alternates.

Players will perform their talent live from the Avalon Hollywood, and viewers can vote from the final three on CBS.com, with the winner revealed during the live broadcast.

"These six NFL player finalists are about to show viewers another side of their personalities and skillsets," said Bob Horowitz, JUMA Entertainment President. "As they prepare for next Thursday night's competition, it's impressive to watch these athletes focus and train in much the same way as they approach a game on Sunday. And just like their day job, their primetime performance will be LIVE!"

But there's more.

CBS announced today the celebrity judges and mentor for MVP: MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER, a new, live, one-hour interactive talent show hosted by LL COOL J. SCORPION actress and recording artist Katharine McPhee, SUPERIOR DONUTS actor and comedian Maz Jobrani, and New York Giants wide receiver and INSIDE THE NFL on SHOWTIME analyst Brandon Marshall will judge the special on Thursday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. THE TALK host Sharon Osbourne will mentor the NFL players to ensure the transition from pro athlete to star performer goes off without a hitch.

During the special, NFL players will showcase their off-the-field talents, such as singing, playing instruments, dancing and more, live from the Avalon Hollywood. Then, the three judges will draw upon their unique backgrounds in musical theater, acting, hosting and sports to evaluate their performances and each choose one player to advance to the final three. During the broadcast viewers can vote from the final three at www.cbs.com/shows/most-valuable-performer with the MVP: MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER winner revealed live.

Katharine McPhee - Judge

Katharine McPhee is an accomplished actress and singer. She first burst onto the scene in 2005 on season five of "American Idol." McPhee boasts many television and film credits, including starring as Paige Dineen in the CBS drama SCORPION. McPhee has recorded five studio albums, including her self-titled debut album, which landed at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2007. Her most recent album, I Fall In Love Too Easily, on Nov. 17, 2017, went to #1 on the iTunes jazz charts and has been in the top 10 since its release. In her Café Carlyle debut, she sold out all five nights and received standing ovations and much fan praise.

Maz Jobrani - Judge

Maz Jobrani is a comedian, actor and author who currently stars at Fawz in the CBS comedy SUPERIOR DONUTS. Jobrani performs stand-up live around the world, including the Middle East where he performed in front of the king of Jordan, and at the White House in spring of 2016, where he had the privilege of introducing Michelle Obama. In addition to his television and film credits, Netflix premiered his latest comedy special, "Immigrant," last summer, and his book I'm Not a Terrorist, But I've Played One on TV was a Los Angeles Times bestseller.

Brandon Marshall - Judge

Current New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall is on his fourth year as an expert analyst on the weekly series INSIDE THE NFL on SHOWTIME. He was nominated for a 2016 Sports Emmy in the category of Outstanding Sports Personality (studio analyst) for his work on the show. Marshall and his wife, Michi, are the co-founders of PROJECT 375, a non-profit foundation that aims to raise awareness to combat the stigma surrounding mental health disorders.

Sharon Osbourne - Mentor

Sharon Osbourne serves as host of THE TALK, CBS' Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show. Osbourne won the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Hosts Daytime Emmy for the first time in 2017. In addition to her many television credits, including the cable reality series "The Osbournes," she has returned to her role as a judge and mentor on the U.K. version of "The X Factor." Osbourne's career in the music industry has spanned more than 30 years. In addition to managing the career of her husband, she has managed numerous artists, such as Black Sabbath, Electric Light Orchestra, Smashing Pumpkins, Motorhead and Slade. In 1996 Osbourne created and produced Ozzfest, the biggest hard-rock touring festival in America.

Due to their NFL obligations, Cody and Jacob Hollister (now playing in the Super Bowl) are not eligible to compete in MVP: MOST VALUABLE PERFORMER.

This will be fun.

After this commercial word, Millionaire has 17 ways to make money.

That's...............when Game Show Live! returns.

Madison: Some members of our viewing audience will receive.....

Starbucks Coffee, where you'll sign up now for their rewards program and earn enough stars to buy free food or drink including one on your birthday. Isn't that something? Now back to our telescope Tranny,   Pierre Kelly!

Me: Thank you Madi and welcome back.  How did 2 adult film stars die? Karina Longworth will join us later to talk about the incident that happened. First off........

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire isn't going anywhere.

The long-running game show has been renewed for a 17th season on ABC-owned stations. Also ordered is another season of viral video show RightThisMinute. The renewals will keep the pair of reality series on the air through 2019.

Millionaire, currently in its 16th season in national syndication, is hosted by The Bachelor's Chris Harrison. The series, produced by Valleycrest Productions, continues to be the only game show that offers a $1 million prize to each and every contestant. Since the program debuted in syndication in 2002, contestants have won more than $95 million. James Rowley serves as an executive producer.

According to ABC, both shows are posting year-to-year household ratings gains and are among only four out of more than 30 nationally syndicated first-run strips that have generated ratings increases this year.

And now we take a trip into the future.................

Make that, in a the form of a panel show.

Romesh Ranganathan is piloting a gameshow for Sky One about predicting the events of 2018.

Romesh's Look Back To The Future will involve the comic asking three celebrities to guess what could happen in the coming year ahead.

It is being recorded at Sky Studios in Isleworth, West London, this Sunday.

The news comes on the day that the Dave channel announced Judge Romesh, in which the comedian would sit in judgement on real-life disputes.

Chortle can also reveal that Ranganathan's documentary about trying to crack America, Breaking Romesh, will air on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Switching topics now.....

Switch, a game-show format created by Panenka and represented by Lineup Industries, is getting a local version in the Netherlands that will be produced by Tuvalu Media.

Switch sees contestants solve word puzzles and answer trivia questions for the chance to win a cash prize. The format will be stripped daily on AVRO Tros on NPO3 in the Netherlands starting January 29. This Dutch commission follows the show’s success in Belgium, where it has just been ordered for a third season on VRT.

Julian Curtis, co-founder of Lineup Industries, commented: “Game shows are perennially popular and we are seeing strong demand for daytime quiz formats as well as access prime-time shows that the whole family can enjoy. Switch is both—it is compelling but simple—and ideal programming to strip across the week with increasing risk and reward!”

Now to some award news.

Ant and Dec swept the board at the National Television Awards, picking up 3 awards.

The pair arrived just in the nick of time to accept the Best Challenge Show award for I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!

Joining the cast of 2017 onstage the jubilant pair thanked everyone for voting.

Ant McPartlin, who made his first public appearance since he revealed he is splitting from his wife, said:

We love making I'm A Celebrity ... Get me Out Of Here! Thank you for loving it too. We want to make it forever!"

– ANT
Declan Donnelly said:

Just a huge, huge thank you to everybody who took the time to vote for us, to ITV for their continued support. But the biggest thanks is of course to the class of 2017 everybody!"

– DEC
Stars also paid tribute to the late all-round entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth at what was the first National Television Awards since his death.

The awards remembered the former presenter, singer, dancer and gameshow host as Ant and Dec took home the first prize in his memory for their Saturday Night Takeaway show.

Presenting the award, Sir Bruce's widow Lady Wilnelia Forsyth said she was "proud and honoured that this special award is named after my darling Bruce".

She added: "I know he would have loved it because show business was his life."

Now we continue Joeykat January.

And our last story: The popular NPR podcast Snap Judgement is forming into a spinoff called "Snap Out of It." 2 "snappers" face off as they listen to stories and ask questions based on the stories they've just heard.  As if that wasn't enough, they'll make their own stories to music......like the podcast and the live show itself. The prize for winning a season long tournament is a spot on the live show in their hometown. With the companion of teh Soon-to-be TV adaptation of the long-running "Whad Ya Know?" radio program, Glynn Washington will don his Botany 500 suit and.........

The Lightning Rant. 90 seconds to talk about GSN's newest documentary series starting from.................

http://www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/mtg-buzzin2.wav

Now.

GSN has decided to do a series entitled Cover Story. Yes, Cover Story. The first one focused on the Michael Larsen Press Your Luck scandal. It was a rehash of the more popular 2003 documentary, but added in newer things to keep the viewers entertained. The next show featured Meghan Markle and getting linked to the Prince and her game show years. The upcoming 3rd one will be about MIT and a lottery ticket that was turned into big money......and an investigation. To think of it, the title is a inspiration to another GSN program "Anything To Win." I remember the 1980 Pittsburgh 6-6-6 daily number scandal and the MIT students going into card counting which later inspired the movie "21." Now GSN isn't like it was in 2004..............but it's close. So if Cover Story can copycat Anything to Win again........I say it's a one-and-done for the show.

That's it for this week. Today's consolation prize is a copy of Super Mario Brothers. It proved why it didn't have nothing to do with the game itself. Trust me on that.
