 The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.

Our first story is under a spoiler alert!

If you have not seen This, skip teh whole thing to a open piece of the blog, otherwise, read this if you have:

The 32-year-old Los Angeles-based music executive proudly claimed the $250,000 grand prize. Alan Lin, a 26-year-old software engineer, earned $100,000 in second place, while Austin Rogers, a 38-year-old bartender from New York City, took home $50,000 in third place.
“Going backstage after Game 1 there was definitely a little pit in my stomach at first,” Cohen admitted in a statement sent to Fox News Friday. “I was consoling myself saying, ‘Alright, well you won $50K, that’s nothing to slouch at.’ A few folks on the crew were trying to help me not get too down, but after a little moment I just said ‘Well, you can’t have a Cinderella story if you’re already in first.’ I was kind of joking, but I think it helped me reframe the situation to my advantage.”
A big Daily Double wager in the Double Jeopardy! round proved to be the turning point for Cohen, who bet everything he had – a whopping $10,800 — on a clue in “The Body Human” category.
“Even in the first round of the second final game I think I was [still] in third place, but then I caught fire… moving into first place by the time I hit the Daily Double,” explained Cohen. “It was in a category that we hadn’t been in yet, so there was a big question mark, but I knew I had to make it a true Daily Double. When I got it right, I knew that I was back in this competition and just did my best to get all the way home.”
Cohen, who is currently in talks with his wife about how to spend his grand prize, said winning a quarter million dollars is “unbelievable.”

End of Spoiler Alert.

In 2018, the Alphabet network has a new one and an old one to the mix.

The series premiere of "Child Support," a one-hour studio-based series from Golden Globe(R)- and Emmy(R) Award-winning Ricky Gervais and Banijay Studios North America, will make its debut on FRIDAY, JAN. 5 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Produced by Banijay Studios North America, the primetime series will feature adult contestants and priceless interactions between funnyman Ricky Gervais and a group of five kids who say the most unpredictable things. Hosted by Fred Savage, contestants are asked to answer 10 questions correctly to earn the top prize. If they answer incorrectly, the contestants have a chance to be saved by the five kids who have been asked the same question by Gervais. Ricky Gervais, David Goldberg, Caroline Baumgard and Jeff Krask are executive producers.

"Match Game," produced by FremantleMedia North America (FMNA), returns to primetime on WEDNESDAY, JAN. 3 at 10:00 p.m. EST for Season 3 and will once again be hosted by Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin. "Match Game" is a panel game show that features two contestants as they attempt to match the answers of six celebrities in a game of fill-in-the-missing-blank. Baldwin received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Host in 2017. Executive producers include Alec Baldwin, FMNA's Jennifer Mullin, Scott St. John and Mallory Schwartz.

"We are excited to grow our game show slate with the comedic charm that Ricky Gervais and Fred Savage bring to 'Child Support,'" said Robert Mills, senior vice president, Alternative Series, Specials & Late Night. "When you add Alec Baldwin's quick wit as host of 'Match Game,' you are sure to start your year with a lot of laughs."

Wheel heads into NYC.......kinda.

“Wheel of Fortune” is taking a spin in New York City.

The popular Hangman-inspired game show starring Pat Sajak and Vanna White is the focus of a new exhibit titled “Wheel of Fortune: 35 Years as America’s Game” at the Paley Center at 25 W. 52nd St. through Dec. 3. On display will be some of White’s favorite gowns, wedges from the wheel and scale models of the set, along with videos featuring some of the show’s most memorable moments. You’ll also spot Sheldon, the ceramic Dalmatian that sold for $154 during the series’ early days when contestants used their winnings to shop for prizes.

While “Wheel” began in 1975 as a daytime show on NBC with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford, this exhibit is meant as a celebration to the syndicated edition with Sajak and White that has been on a roll since 1984.

“The viewers think of them as friends and one of the most satisfying and heartwarming things to watch is people’s faces when Pat and Vanna enter the studio,” says “Wheel” executive producer Harry Friedman.

And while it costs $250 to buy a vowel on the show, admission to the exhibit, which is open Wednesdays through Sundays, is free. For more info, go to paleycenter.org.

Fox once did Mr. Personality, but now.....it's Mr. Personality.....on the Voice?

Fox is developing a remake of Asian singing competition The Masked Singer – its latest shiny-floor entertainment format.

Deadline reports that the network is developing and casting a U.S version of the format with Smart Dog Media, the production company run by former NBC reality chief Craig Plestis, who has produced long-running game show Minute to Win It with Guy Fieri and Syfy’s Robot Combat League.

The Masked Singer is a celebrity singing gameshow with a twist: Contestants wear elaborate masks and costumes to conceal their identity.

The show sees celebrities, including actors, musicians and comedians, face off head-to-head in a series of singing competitions. As they sing, a panel of judges and viewers are guessing who is behind the mask as they vote for the winner. As contestants are eliminated, their true identities are revealed and they are unmasked on stage. The battles rage on until there is only one masked singer left standing.

The format originally aired in Korea via Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation and has been remade for China’s Jiangsu Television, Thailand’s Workpoint TV and Vietnam’s HTV7.

Paradigm Talent Agency, which represents Plestis and Smart Dog Media, brokered the format deal.
