The whatstrending.com Opening Toss-Up story.
Word play was a nice welcome to the Buzzr schedule. everything was fine.....but come a clear Wednesday night......Match Game was replaced. So why did Buzzr decide to replace it? Well, Some sources believe that is was all of clearance issues. That's not all. The network's FB page had this to say:
Buzzr Fans – We would like to apologize for the abrupt schedule change last night. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we needed to adjust our previously planned schedule. We understand you are disappointed and we hope you can understand that these things occasionally happen. Tonight, and next week you will see episodes of Match Game in the place of Wordplay. We will do our best to keep you informed of future changes. As always, thank you for watching #Buzzr.
Which brings us to this revised poem......

YEAOH!
Mr. 5 Questions Craig Reid says....
"Hmm...
Would it be possible then to move “Trivia Trap” to the weeknight 8:30pm slot until this issue gets resolved? This way, the schedule still seems “fresh” with a new show in at prime time. #Buzzr"
But our Resident frenemy David Downs says this.....
I know its your channel, and you can run what you want (that you own, since this clearly shows you don't even seem to know what those are anymore), and sure, Wordplay isn't spectacular, but more Match Game (and the boring early episodes to boot) is not good, even if most people here seem to like this. It's already about a third of the schedule, and you honestly want more??? Let's see how much you guys like it when you see the same ones 176 times by this point next year.
I really don't know what to say. You guys still don't have a clue two years in, and you're making GSN look really good right now. Sad, sad, sad.
John Fenner went with....
"If you must add more Match Game to the schedule, why not throw on one or two airings of the Ross Shafer version from 1990? You never aired that version. OK, it wasn't as popular as the Gene Rayburn version, but it did decent enough that it got an entire season."
Michael Hetrick says.....
Honestly, "Wordplay" was a boring show that more less showcased the celebrities than the contestants. This was why Peter was probably replaced from the pilot. He was more a contestant host then panel moderator.
Yes, I enjoyed that it was something new on the schedule and something that hadn't aired since it's original broadcast on NBC. Fremantle owns the show through the acquisition of Pearson Television (previously All American) in the early 2000s. Syd Vinnedge, an EP of the show, actually worked as a Fremantle Exec for a long time. The problem more than likely boils down to how the contracts for celebrity appearances were negotiated. This was probably a stickler as to why GSN couldn't get the show from Fremantle to air it prior. Maybe they are working the issues out, but who knows?
I still enjoy BUZZR and I think they are trying to do the best they can within the parameters and limited budget they have.
William Sydnor, Jr. also says.....
"WHAT A BUMMER! Nothing against Match Game '73 of course, but please bring Wordplay back on the schedule ASAP!"
Guess nobody wants to watch a boring old definitions game show.
And now, a segment that isn't actually boring at all. It's the Yay & Yawn of September.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPmdM8mMFys
The Yay: Buzzr's Lost & Found. New ones being put into the mix and old ones we've seen before.
The Yawn: Funny You Should Ask. First week out and.....not in the ratings books? What's wrong with it anyway?

Something new is coming in October and we can't wait to tell you what it is.......

So why did they get Billy Off the street? Well....
Billy Eichner will no longer be stalking New York pedestrians — at least not on truTV’s dime.
Billy on the Street, Eichner’s long-running variety show, will not return to the basic cable network for Season 6, Variety reports. It has not, however, been cancelled.
Eichner on Tuesday first hinted that Billy on the Street would not continue on truTV, tweeting, “We have had a fantastic, life changing, Emmy-nominated time working with my friends at truTV and I can’t thank them enough. They’re the best.” A second statement indicated that the show would return, possibly in a new format or on a new network:
For those asking, yes BILLY ON THE STREET will be back! But we're shifting gears a bit...exciting things ahead...more will be revealed soon!
- @billyeichner
Billy on the Street first debuted on the cable channel Fuse back in Dec. 2011, where it ran for three seasons. Beginning with Season 4, the show made the leap to truTV, where it’s been airing since 2015. All five seasons are available to stream on Hulu.
In addition to Billy on the Street, Eichner is one-half of Hulu’s Difficult People, which releases its Season 3 finale on Tuesday, Sept. 26. It has not yet been renewed for Season 4.
And here comes yet another talent show launch....
With a musical pedigree spanning across multiple genres and decades, CTV announced today an additional roster of celebrity mentors for THE LAUNCH: Culture Club alumnus and Grammy® Award-winner Boy George; international pop sensation, Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara; rock icon and founding member of legendary rock band Mötley Crüe Nikki Sixx; sought-after songwriter with her own current hit single "Issues", Julia Michaels; and Grammy Award-winner and co-founder of country-pop duo Sugarland Jennifer Nettles. "We have assembled some of the most gifted and highly decorated talent in the music industry today to skyrocket THE LAUNCH into a new stratosphere of experience for both the emerging artists appearing on the series and for viewers across the country," said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media. "We look forward to watching the emerging artists draw from the cumulative wealth of knowledge and experience that our mentors represent, and the sheer excitement of watching these musical industry powerhouses place their imprint on music's next big songs."
THE LAUNCH is an all-new, six-part music television series and international TV format delivers an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of a new original song. The first season of the Canadian version of the program is currently shooting in Toronto, before the format is rolled-out internationally later this year.
And now a Game Show Live! follow along on the AI judging situation.
Country singer Luke Bryan reportedly is on board to serve as a judge on Season 16 of American Idol, according to our sister site Variety. He joins anchor judge Katy Perry, whose deal for the ABC revival was confirmed in May.
As previously reported, Ryan Seacrest will return as host of Idol, which is slated to premiere in March 2018.
Word of Bryan’s hire comes just one week before auditions in front of the judges are set to get underway. (Open call auditions, which are not filmed for television and are conducted without the judging panel, have been underway since mid-August.) A third judge has yet to be named.
ABC declines to comment at this time.
Ringing in the greek stuff......
Greek television network Star Channel has ordered 5 Gold Rings, a successful interactive game show format by Netherlands-based producer Talpa Media and ITV Studios production company Possessed.
Greece is the fifth country to pick up the program, following the Netherlands, France, Israel and the UK, where it was ordered by commercial broadcaster ITV.
The game show sees contestants answering questions by placing rings across an interactive LED floor. Using the program’s app, the program audience can play along.
Since August, the game has been available to the app’s users even when the program is not on the air.
“We’re very excited to start up this new partnership with Star Channel,” says Talpa Global MD Maarten Meijs in a statement. “Having a format appealing to so many broadcasters around the globe is an incredible accomplishment we’re very proud of.”

Does Anyone Remember..........
To give you a better idea, The Dr. Fad show ran in the late eighties and before the advent of Dragon's Den and later Shark tank, and had 3 inventors make something in the fad lab. The scoring of the first part was like Tattletales. Keeping things in line was his assistant Jim Fyffe, because Dr. Fad actually spoke broken english. No joke. The final part was bringing in their own inventions. Using some applause-o-meter, the winner went to Disney World's Epcot Center. This of course, was a kids show and all kids received prizes of the Double Dare/Fun House variety. then the process repeats to fit the half hour. To make it fit, skits and facts about inventions plus appearances from people made it a variety half hour. So if you didn't remember The Dr. fad Show, let Game Show Live! know and we'll explain.
